Hard to get win install me in a virtual machine

I need to have Win XP installed on a Win 7 laptop to run the company issued VPN software. The single XP disc I have is an upgraded version of the House, which isn't really a big deal.

When initially, I installed VMWare Player this morning, I jumped my upgrade XP disc in (forgetting that it was an upgrade and not a complete OS) and the system has started the installation as usual, got the blue screen of Windows in my virtual machine installation, and installation took place right until the moment when she had to remind me that he was not a previous operating system installed, which pushed a 'Oh' of me , and a return to the House of my Win ME to full installation disc.

When I try to install Me, the new virtual machine recognizes that there is me install the drive in my d: drive, but when he starts to put up the virtual machine, it does not autorun installation disc. A BACK screen opens, and I get messages saying: AMD Network Boot and trying to install from a MAC address of the client before you don't say 'no received startup file. Then I get a message saying "Exit Intel PXE ROM", followed of a message that says "Not found operating system".

What I'm doing wrong here?

The WinME installation disc was not bootable.  You should have a BACK bootable diskette that accompanies it.  Boot from the floppy (with support of the CD-ROM), run fdisk to partition the virtual hard disk, and then run Setup from the WinME CD.  If you do not have the boot BACK disk, you can find images of floppy disks BACK on the Internet.

Otherwise, no not the upgrade CD allow you to burst in the WinME CD to check the upgrade eligibility, without installing WinME?

I intend to install the OS on a Mac, but the MS download site only allows you to download a setup.exe file and not the file ISO integer required by the virtual machine. How can I get a full installation file? I bought the software for download on the store and do not want to buy a DVD version. Can anyone help?

You need the full version if you plan to install on a virtual machine:

There is no full retail version of Windows 8. If you need a full version, you will need to purchase the Pro OEM Windows 8 of new eggs. To do this, install an own custom.

  • How to get the MAC address of the virtual machine on which vmware tool is not installed

    Hello

In our project, we communicate to vCenter/ESX and details of virtual machines using the VI - Java 4.0.0 SDK APIs

    I use PropertyCollector for details.

    But in the following cases

    1. a virtual machine is poweredOff.

2 VMware tool is not installed on the virtual machine.

I am not able to get the mac using the PropertyColector address.

To get the macaddress property I use after crossing spec:

rootFolder (folder)-> childEntity (data center)-> hostFolder (Folder)-> childEntity (ComputerResource)

    -> host (Hostsystem)-> vm-> guest (GuestInfo)-> net (GuestNicInfo)-> macaddress (in Virtualmachine)

I know the vSphere client uses the VI SDK to perform all operations, and I am able to see the macAddress of VirtualMachine in cases using vSphere client.

Is any body please help me get the macaddress of VM in the two cases.

    Thank you

    Deepak

Take a look at the dashboard feature of the virtual machine and specifically "VirtualEthernetCard": http://www.vmware.com/support/developer/vc-sdk/visdk400pubs/ReferenceGuide/vim.vm.device.VirtualEthernetCard.html

When you assign a new vNIC to each virtual machine, a unique MAC address generated is given by default. If you still want to map the actual interface of the guestOS, then you would take a look at guestInfo as you may have noticed IF you have the VMware Tools. Although the default is whence the MAC address

  • Why the * My Genuine Windows 7 Key fails every time I have install on a new virtual machine?

    Hello

I spend computers constantly in my work.  I have often install new hard drives and move machines, as part of my work.  I bought Windows 7 and have never installed on a machine at a time.  Calling your woefully inadequate to voice recognition phone system to tell you that I indeed expect to install the operating system I paid for * the * out of me.

I already spent a MacBook for my main machine; you're lucky I am on Windows at all.  In general, I installed Linux on my other machines.  Each installation of my Windows 7 key is a new chance for you to make me not interested in Windows 10.  Each. Unique. Time. (I have to call to 'allow' my installations because that your automatic authorization is either one) broke, or b) is set up to discourage people to install your operating system either.

Is it possible to add it please my Windows 7 key to a list of 'Yes, this person's owner  Cause I'm in anger.

    Sincerely,

    William Curtis Jarrell

There is a limit to how many times you can move a version of Windows from one computer to another, once you exceed this limit (typically 5 times) then phone activation is required.

Why; too often people install Windows on more than one PC without deleting the previous computer. (A license is a key a PC).

  • where and how much Vcenter must be installed? as a virtual machine or physical host? -config is 2xESXi40 - CX4 - 120 1xEMC2 - DAS mode

    "BEST PRACTICE RECOMMENDATION.

I work with 1 ESXi40 in DAS mode very good and everything is fine.

I have still a few servers production of Phisical aditional to be virtualized, but before that

We cultivate our virtual infrastructure by adding a second Esxi40 and installing the Virtual Center software and license to use HA, Vmotion, etc..

the questions and the thing is, if I'm migrating all my hosts physic to the VMs system, do I need a new physical server to install Virtual Center, yes or no.

    and why?

If this is not the case, the Vcenter can be virtualized, and what is the best practice to do this.

which of the following configuration might be valid, the best recommendation and why and why not.

    (a) create 1 Vcenter VM, located in a data store on the hard drive that comes a host of Esxi40

    (b) create 1 Vcenter VM, created storage located in a data store that comes from the CX4-120, and the group contains 1 ESXi40 physical host

    (c) create 1 Vcenter VM, created storage located in a data store that comes from the CX4-120, and the group contains 2 ESXi40 physical hosts

    (d) create 2 Vcenter VW, created storage located in a data store that comes from the CX4-120, and the group contains 1 ESXi40 physical host

    (c) create 2 Vcenter VM, located in a data store that comes from the CX4 - 120, ahd, the storage group created containds 2 ESXi40 physical hosts

    Thank you

    MC.

    You're too complicate things...

Do the vCenter as a virtual machine, which gives the requirements for processors, RAM, etc... Place it on a data store available to BOTH hosts. In fact, I would make sure that ALL s LUN where sit all VM are available for BOTH ESXi servers.

I recommend also using a full SQL Server for the db, is not using SQL Express. If you have a SQL 2005 server, use it. If you want to future proof, vCenter things, put on a 64 bit OS (so you're ready for vCenter 4.1 and ESXi 4.1). Having the SQL database on a real SQL Server (other than the server vCenter Server/VM) makes things a lot easier on the road...

  • Failed to get the IP address of the virtual machine of win7 with bridge.

    1.png2.png

    Hi guys,.

My VM is win7 in the workstation9 with network bridge. Sometimes I can't get IP from DHCP, but sometimes I am able to.

And I don't really know what causes it? Please help me.

    Thank you

This problem is solved. Click on modifier modify-> Virtual Network Editor, select connected by a bridge. Then check the Panel under the list, focusing on bridged-> gateway

There are 3 options in the drop-down list (auto, vpn, physical network), automatic is the default, just to select the physical card. Then throw on your virtual machine,

IP is back, the problem is solved.

  • Get the IP address on the virtual machine to deploy

We use the Pools of IP for the assignment of intellectual property, but we want to follow the assignments, what org use what IP etc., to integrate with external systems.

Is there a good way to do this? I was thinking about a block in Orchestrator task, but that seems like overkill? I was hoping that the INVESTIGATION period would be included in the message sent by MQ when a virtual machine is deployed, but this doesn't seem to be cases of tha.

    All good ideas?

In fact, I think that it is not supported for the level of the virtual machine. But it seems that you can in fact get it anyway even without "Mode OVF" (could work in VCD 1.5).

  • Get the date of creation of virtual machines

It is possible to get the exact time of creation of a VM?

I see here in the tasks and events, but is not found. Maybe some PowerCli exclusive cmdlet for reports?

These settings mean that there is no retention period.

All events and tasks are stored in the database of vCenter forever.

It could be that your virtual machines are created in a special way and that this method does not generate the eventtype is looking for the script.

A way to discover, create a new virtual machine as you normally do.

Then collect all the events of the last hour and list the eventtypes.

    Something like that

    Get-VIEvent-beginning (Get-Date). AddHours(-1) - MaxSamples ([int]: MaxValue) |

    Group-object - property {$_.} GetType(). Name}

Maybe the list will shed light, why you do not see your virtual machine creation dates.

If you see a lot of TaskEvents, we will have to look at the type of tasks.

    Like this

    $events = get-VIEvent-start (Get-Date). AddHours(-1) - MaxSamples ([int]: MaxValue) |
    where {$_.} GetType(). Name - eq "TaskEvent"} |
    Group-object - property {$_.Info.DescriptionId}

    Hello world...

I need help to get the MAC address of a virtual computer, I'm stuck in it.

Here's a vSphere SDK for Perl script that extracts the MAC addresses for all your virtual machines - http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-10490

You should be able to take it and translate it into any language vSphere SDK you plan to use. Basically you'll be listing through virtual hardware for the virtual machine to search for devices of type VirtualEthernetCard and then retrieve the MAC address of each device.
