Windows 7 - new update - Code 646 - that occur repeatedly for about a month now
Hi all!
I use Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. For the last month, my automatic updates continually seem to fail with an error Code 646. My only option so far has been to manually download the updates myself.
Just curious to know if anyone knows if there is some kind of problem that MS is currently studying, or if there is a fix out there somewhere that I forgot. Let me know if any information is needed to help solve this problem and I'll give you a pleasure all necessary information!
Thank you!!

There is a problem with these models of Leica cameras providing accurate information in the EXIF data F stop. Photomerge for HDR and Panorama will use this information to "mix" the image files. A solution has been found using an EXIF here Editor:

This may or may not be the source of your problem, but worth investigating. Try to use any other device non-Leica and do a quick test Panorama or HDR and see if you get the same message.

Under programs right click wups2.dll and choose Properties, when the Properties window opens, click the Details tab.

Now do the same for c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
He, too, should show file version and product like 7.4.7600.226
If the version is earlier than that, you will need to install the more recent Version of the Windows Update Agent.
The easiest way to do this is therefore download and Save the Fixit found here - How to reset the Windows Update components?
Once the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
Run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi and choose its default mode.BUT, if the installed firewall antivirus/security suite or a 3rd party is causing the "reading check error" then the Fixit may/does not work.
If this is the case, then Configure the system to boot after download and Save the Fixit.
Then, run the Fixit after the reboot to clean boot state.
Restart and Cancel the clean boot steps, restart again to normal Windows mode.
NOTE: in the boot minimum state all the 3rd party firewalls will be disabled. When you run the Fixit either unplug the system from it is the network connection or make sure the native firewall of Windows 7 is now on by opening the control panel > Windows Firewall.Expert MowGreen Windows IT Pro - consumer safety

I tried all day install the following updates:
1 security Update for Microsoft Office Excel 2007 (973593 KB)
2. security Update for Microsoft Office System 2007 (973704 KB)
3. Update for Microsoft Office Word 2007 (974561 KB)Updates have been through to 4 am cst, but when I turned on my pc today, Windows Update showed that I needed to install updates 3 mentioned above. I tried all day to make install, but each attempt failed. I clicked the button 'Try Again' and always updates does not pass.
I deleted the files that I no longer use of haven't used in a year or two. I also deleted some files that I have no use for out the files in the folder my documents. I even emptied my recycling bin to help clear up some disk deespace, still nothing.
I tried the suggestions that are currently on the forum, but do not always help.
When I went to manually download updates an error pops up saying "Package of Installation failed."
Help, please. I need of new suggestions or something.
I had to disable the "User Account Control" (UAC), which allows you to run as administrator in Vista. After that I turned it off, all 4 of these updates installed and it doesn't require manual installation. Follow these steps:
In the case of Vista view:
1.) go to start; Control Panel; "User accounts and family safety"; User accounts.
2.) click on 'Enable user account control or disable' (last point on the page)
3.) clear the checkbox "Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer" and click "OK."
4.) restart the computer, and then run the installation of the system and they work.If you are in Classic view:
1.) go to start; Control Panel; Security Center
2 screen.) in the "Windows Security Center", go to the last item "User Account Control" and click the button to turn off.You can also see the security shield in your Start menu. You can also access the UAC via this.
After that the installation of the system have been updated, make sure that you go back and turn the UAC "" and then restart your computer so that unauthorized updates do not occur. Always try this turn off if install doesn't work.

Everytime I turn on my laptop, I have a little message that says: I have an update - so I click to install it and it gives me the same error code every time. Error code 646. This update is for security for Microsoft Works 9. The funny thing is, when I turn my laptop libere‑moi said it is necessary to install the update, but how can this be if it does not first place? Does anyone else have this problem?... and if so, how I eliminate it?

Hello
Method 1:
I suggest you to reset the Windows Update components manually by following the steps in the section Let me fixit myself .
Warning: the section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/back-up-the-registry .
Method 2: Analysis of SFC (System File Checker)
SFC scan will find all missing or incorrect system files and repairs them.

As noted, my motherboard has failed. IDE only AGP CPU core. Not much use trying to find anotherof those. Replaced the motherboard with a newer version. It has SATA, multi core processor, etc. Processor and HARD drive had to be replaced.
My Vista home premium 32 bit running on my machine for years. I loaded it on the upgrade with no problems. Went to windows update and SP1 and then SP2 and all other windows updates suggest and worked very well, for a few days.
Now, I get a message that the product key is already used and need to buy AnotherOne coming soon.
