  I have trouble knowing what to do and where to go in what concerns a device driver for my laptop hardware system.

  The CD/DVD-ROM drive is not working properly, or it will not read any disk and it is not detected by the system at all.  It does not appear in Device Manager, so all the help online, I read in the forums regarding the use of this administration tool to fix the problem is not an option.

  There he was however detected and showing in the system BIOS.  The forums have gotten me up to now.

  But now I'm at a bit of a loss.  Material still functions, otherwise he wouldn't be showing in the BIOS (if I have that right) and so to replace the CD player is not so guaranteed immediately.  And I'm unable to use the Device Manager to detect the device and configure its settings.  So I'm assuming that a pilot is missing or more and I just need to find and install them.

• wireless problem: how to test hardware and software

  all of a sudden my wireless connection is gone. don't know if my router or laptop. Here's what I did

  (a) all other devices work. My mobile phones (5) and XBox work on routher

  (b) computer laptop at McDonald's, connection Wi - Fi does not

  (c) took the laptop to Chick-Fil-A, see the Wi - Fi connection, but wouldn't connect. Troubleshooting says problem with adapter.

  (d) force the connection to the existing connection. Name appears in but does not connect. Name disappears.

  I would check with Device Manager.  Click Start and right-click computer.  Click Properties, and then click Device Manager.  Watch the entrance of network adapters to see if there is! or? next to one of them.  If so, you must obtain the correct.  If it is not, right-click the entries wireless and WiFi and see if there is an option to ENABLE it.  If so, click it, because something has somehow it disabled.
