Hardware and software device drivers - find, download and install correctly

Hello

I have trouble knowing what to do and where to go in what concerns a device driver for my laptop hardware system.

The CD/DVD-ROM drive is not working properly, or it will not read any disk and it is not detected by the system at all.  It does not appear in Device Manager, so all the help online, I read in the forums regarding the use of this administration tool to fix the problem is not an option.

There he was however detected and showing in the system BIOS.  The forums have gotten me up to now.

But now I'm at a bit of a loss.  Material still functions, otherwise he wouldn't be showing in the BIOS (if I have that right) and so to replace the CD player is not so guaranteed immediately.  And I'm unable to use the Device Manager to detect the device and configure its settings.  So I'm assuming that a pilot is missing or more and I just need to find and install them.

I searched the web and have had no chance to solve my specific problem and even the manufacturer Web page was unable to solve the problem, because they do not have the specific part of the equipment listed under "Download drivers".  And nothing relative happens when I do a search on their site either.  I keep emaling them, but haven't heard back (it's been several months now).

Help please, someone;

How do I locate and download the drivers for my specific laptop?   -HP Pavilion DV6000

And, once this is accomplished, how to properly install them on my computer to make the drive running again?

Thank you very much

any person who takes time out of their schedules to respond to that.  It will be much appreciated.

All the best!

Check the status of the device and the driver Version:

    b. double-click the category containing your device driver and thendouble - click the device name.

    c. check the status of the device tab click on driver tab arencontre, checkDriver provide, Date of the driver, the driver Version, digital signer. Please provide this information.

    d. click OK, exit Device Manager.

    Method 1:
You can update the drivers on the manufacturer's Web site and check.

    Method 2:

Here is some other information about the Windows updates for you, I put in place some time and which you may find useful if you are having problems with Windows updates:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You must only obtain the latest drivers for them to the site of the real hardware manufacturer, like Microsoft normally does not have these latest drivers available as Microsoft invokes the material part 3rd RTOS provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

'Remove an update - Windows 7'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/remove-update#1TC=Windows-7

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

"How to hide or restore the updates of Windows hidden in Windows 7 and Windows 8"

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Software device driver has not been installed successfully. __This device cannot start (Code 10).

I am running Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion a1600n and sometimes in the last month the CD/DVD drive stopped recognizing DVDs and CDs. It is opening and closing, and turn the disc when I put them in the drive, simply do not recognize anything beyond that.

The State of the device reads that this device cannot start (code 10).

From what I could find online code 10 was a general hardware error. I tried switching to another Cd/DVD drive and even changed the cable to the inside to see if it was the error, it was not. When I plugged the DVD/CD drive second he tried to locate the drivers online and and informed me it software device driver was not correctly installed. I tried to find some kind of solution online, nothing helps. If there are some ad where this has been previously resolved for someone else and you could point me in the right direction, or if you have a solution to this problem, please help.

  • my software device driver has not been installed successfully. How can I get my computer to thank that has my printer?

I am trying to add a printer. I went to the control panel. Click devices and printers. Click Add a printer. Located in my HP photosmart c4200 series and then he asks me a port. choose which port? I chose the lpt1 printer port and it went through windows update, but then a report of said error operation could not be completed (error 0x00003eb... what this means and what should I do?)

    Hi Charles,

Unplug the printer. It uses a USB cable and therefore using LPT1 for parallel printers older is not possible.

Download the latest software from the HP Web site (or use your installation CD) and run it.

Do not connect the printer until told to do so by the installation routine.

Can remember you if the beginning of the problem coincided in the installation of Nero?

Also, have you considered, or it would be convenient to use the system restore using a restore point before the beginning of the question.

Another possibility is to reinstall or 'repair' Nero over himself.
