  I posted the 3/22 on having missing NTLDR. Joel suggested the Seatools and it turned out to be a bad hard drive. Replaces and I tried recovery with a set of newly purchased recovery disks. Recovery did not work, I was told I needed work for drives cd-rom drive to work. Just put in the new rom but the recovery still does not work. It says it's from recovery, but does nothing. Very quiet PC and no action on the drive light. I tried the Seatools and it failed the short test.   Sorry for the confusion. Re-reading the post looks that I speak in square circles. I was on my way to the door when I decided to make the post, just got back. The disk set is new. I got it computer surgeons, a third-party provider, exclusively for HP/Compaq recovery kits. I got for them through HP. HP initially sent me the wrong set, when I contacted them on this matter, they said that they no longer have the number build for my pc.  The guy at computer surgeons is one that says that I need a cd rom to work to perform a recovery, the multi media player would not work. It always seems strange to me. I did the Seatools test you advised on the first HARD disk, I had and he failed. The place where I had sent me another. He said that he would go several tests on her before shipment to make sure it was ok, and if I still had a problem it was probably the discs. I got this drive yesterday and it included the results of Seatools test with it. After installing it I ran again the Seatools. I wanted to make sure it was ok before I did anything. If something went wrong, I knew that I could not blame the HARD drive. Hope this clears it a bit for you.

  UPDATE: HANG THE FLAG! Issued either solved!  I tried the recovery discs again but this time I hit retry on two mistakes, that I continue to do - cannot recover, recover Windows 32 and couldnot, creator of tools. I gave up after several retrys who kept popping up but has not left the installation. I am in the process now of to update and delete.

  If I am right, it is actually PC-doctor, Inc. Hardware Diagnostic tool which is distributed by some computer program of PC Doctor OEM manufacturers.  The number seems to be a somewhat older version (possibly published with XP systems).  They still do and I have versions for XP, Vista and even Windows 7. If you have upgraded your operating system, the program may or may not work more.  It doesn't seem to be something that you can buy directly (and I don't think that it can be upgraded) - but your computer manufacturer might be able to say more about it.

  Here is the current information on Program OEM's PC Doctor: http://www.pc-doctor.com/pcd_windows.php.  I know that HP and Compaq and Acer and Fujitsu used and can still - and I saw obsolete links and now gone listed this specific version of the program on their systems - but none of their websites discuss the version even if some do not discuss the existence of a program of diagnostics of equipment and how to use it.  Here is an example: If the computer is running XP so that it looks like this (unfortunately not a download link, just info): tests for hardware problems using PC-Doctor - HP Customer Care (United States - English).

  I don't think that it is malware - if I'm wrong.  If your manufacturer says that it was never installed on your computer, so I guess it's possible, but I found only about above it and no mention of all malware related.  In any case, if it was never installed on the system by the manufacturer, then I would probably not use it and may even consider uninstalling just to be on the safe side.  If it has been installed by the manufacturer, try running it to see if it provides you with hardware diagnostic information.  If it crashes or fails to run if you have an operating system upgraded from the original installed OS, then it is probably not compatible and I would just uninstall it as it will be of no use and cannot be upgraded (unless the manufacturer provides one, but it is unlikely) and is just too much room.

  Yet, it can't hurt to run some checks for malicious programs.  Update and run a scan complete with your current AV program.  Then, try the following programs if you do not, because they can help. I recommend you download, install, update and run full scans with Malwarebytes:http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and SuperAntiSpyware:http://superantispyware.com/ and then run a full scan of Microsoft Security:http://www.microsoft.com/security/default.aspx.  If they are all come clean and do not show this as a problem, then I would say it is more likely is not malware and don't worry in this regard.
