Hardware overheating

I have a HP ENVY dv4-5260nr and it still overheats. Idle temperature is around 60 ° C, and when I use it for games (even the small games like PvZ etc..) It will increase up to 80 ° C I tried to clean the air vent and fan but makes no difference. I also use the cooling pad. What should I do?

Hello RAT519,

I understand that your laptop meets an overheating problem, and I'd be happy to help you in this case!

Since you have already cleaned the vests on your computer, I recommend that you follow this document to reduce the heat inside the PC to prevent overheating. This should help reduce the heat generated by your laptop and should help provide additional steps beyond to clean dust.

I do not closely with your Mac model but on my laptop (MacBook late 2008), this is where the CPU is, and that's what generates heat, especially if you do intense CPU activity such as games or video processing.  With warmer summer temperatures, it may run more hot.  There are several utilities that allow you to monitor temperature sensors in your computer.  Hardware Monitor their fact is anything but a commercial utility ($).  I constantly run Mac Fan Control that displays the temperature of some of my sensors.  It does not have the CPU temperature, but I made a comparison between the temperature of the led that she appears and it was showed the average of the two displayed in Hardware Monitor CPU temperatures. First of all, I made sure that my fan and ventilation was clean and I opened the computer and used canned air to blow out the dust. I felt with treatment video it still worked more hot that I liked so I used a utility called CPUthrottle to cut back on the use of the processor in my application of coding. Of course encoding takes more time, but I'm happier with a cooler machine.

I don't know about the RAM so.  I'll make sure that stick you with a reliable brand that is known to work with the Mac as Crucial and OWC (Macsales.com).  Mac can be really sensitive to something other than the RAM of superior quality.

  • My macbook air keeps overheating also theres crumbs under key could someone clean it up?

Hey, I have a few questions? My macbook air keeps overheating and the fan keeps making a sound of overheating, and it will not stop (I downloaded an application that controls the fan and also cool that it can get custody and it helps as long as he can but not much). Also theres crumbs and dirt under my keys could someone fix/clean? How much cost these (separately)? And how long would it take? Thank you

On the issue of heat, try a SMC reset:

If no success, run an Apple Hardware Test:

about the "crumbs", use a fine brush in concert with little compressed air to dislodge.  It can also be a good idea to open the MBA and inspect the inside of the foreign body.

  • MBP is overheating and I have to restart several times per day

    Hello

My MBP is overheating, slowing to a crawl, and I have to restart several times a day (which may or may not help the issue).

    The machine is:

MacBook Pro (retina, 13 inches, end of 2013)

    2.4 GHz Intel Core i5

    DDR3 4 GB 1600 MHz

No expandable RAM (which is beyond me why they would make a non-expandable machine. I discovered after I bought it).

During the day I am running:

Safari (with different tabs open, sometimes a lot sometimes just)

    Messages

    Numbers of

I'm not game. I'm not streaming video. After a few hours of use, several times a day (often 2-4 times just one afternoon) the machine slows to a crawl and I reboot, which may or may not solve the problem of the speed and the heat.

I ran the activity monitor utility, and there are applications that I do not sometimes recognize using 11 to 18% of CPU (bird and soangent). Anyone know what here?

Thanks for all the ideas. I bought this MBP in June. It was the refurb decision-making, where I got all my Macs over the past ten years. It is the worse of them.

    Thank you.

Bird and soagent are the normal processes of Apple. Bird is one of the procedures used with the synchronize documents iCloud. soagent is used in conjunction with the Messages. In normal circumstances or will require an excessive amount of time processor. If you use Messages with a Google or other account not Apple (in other words, not exclusively iCloud) poor performance could be correlated with these accounts.

In any event 11-18% seems a bit much for me. Try to uninstall Evernote as well as all Google products. Or the other could possibly conflict with push social agent and / or document the Apple process synchronization. Google is disinterested or impossible to implement effective OS X apps.

Try to remove all accounts non - Apple Messages, but also completely remove Google from your Mac. You can always reinstall it and Evernote once again after a repair. Your data Google and Evernote is stored on their servers. Back up your Mac in any case, as a precaution.

Mail application (with very complete box - this might be a contributing factor? Can I archive the emails registered)

Perhaps. "Comprehensive" is relative. Some people keep dozens or even hundreds of thousands of e-mail messages. The practical limits of some Mail are, I don't know.

4 GB is perfectly adequate to run El Cap on a MBP of the retina. It would be premature to suspect material deficiencies, but products Google will introduce a new Mac, regardless of its configuration.

Run Apple Hardware Test to confirm that your exhaust fan MBP works normally. Apple Hardware Test is for Macs produced before June 2013. Later Macs use Apple Diagnostics.

  • Satellite M70 164 - screen freezes and goes black, overheating

    Hello world! :)

Recently my Satellite m70-164 started to freeze after only a few minutes of work. The picture on the screen freezes, and a few seconds later, it becomes completely black.
The computer doesn't even have time to warm up, and it's not stop... It's just the screen that freezes and becomes so black. I have to reset the computer by pressing the power button. (I write from another computer).

I noticed that working time reduced whenever I have reset the computer and after some time it freezes even though I am in the BIOS settings, so I don't think it's an OS problem.
Even if the computer does not have time to warm up, this suggests it might be a heat problem.
So I tried pointing a fan this is low (a big, like the ones we use in the summer), and it works without problem!

With the fan facing these, I reinstalled Windows - so no Virus.
Laptop fan * not * continue to operate as it is overheating.
The fan runs and it is not clogged as I've cleaned.

So if anyone has the same problem, or ideas, please respond!
    (And sorry for my English)
    Thanks in advance! : D

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with you. In this case, even in the BIOS, that it has nothing to do with Windows or a Virus. In this case, it seems to be a hardware malfunction

But before contacting an authorized service provider to diagnose what part is the cause, clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This should be done from time to time (every 4 months) and, therefore, it of not necessary to disassemble the laptop.

  • Diagnostic tool hardware problems on Satellite has detected memory

Diagnostic tool memory detected in my laptop hardware problems. Now I don't know what part of the hardware's fault.

Whenever I start my laptop after shoutting it down for some time, it appears failed early and repair takes place and start using the system restore that will come back at some point.

Is that what this has to do anything with overheating?
    Please help me immediately

    > Diagnostic memory tool detected hardware problems in my laptop. Now I don't know what part of the hardware's fault.

I would assume memory one or two failures of modules.
I recommend you to check them both.

Remove a module and try to use the laptop with a connected module.
Then another module test. Make it as different memory locations.

If two modules are corrupt, then you will need to replace both.

  • Overheating on my laptop satellite problem

First of all, excuse my bad English.

    Hello world.
I had my computer for almost 2 years now, if I'm right.
Lately my computer has been acting strange, whenever I do something that takes a lot of memory as games my computer starts flipping out. He freezes, he falls a lot FPS, it becomes much slower and the worst thing is that the CPU will get up to 88 degrees Celsius. It will get very hot. I even tried a cooler under my laptop but it helps doesn t.
I ve done the research on this problem and found out its probably a lot of dust in my computer since I have almost never cleaned.

So here are my questions: what should I do? Must I buy compressed air and try to fix it or do I need get opened and cleaned up like that?
And if I open it, my warranty ends? Or should I give it to Toshiba so they fix?

And now when my dealer stopped if I get another problem with my computer and there get it fixed which should I give her? Toshiba doesn't have hobbits in my city.

Please help it becomes very annoying!

    Hello

What you notice is the typical behavior for notebook older. Many people who use laptops extensively and often play for hours have the same problems of overheating.
I imagine that your laptop is full of dust and can't catch his breath.

In my opinion your laptop must be cleaned properly. With other words - on the professional track. This can be done if the laptop is disassembled and each component that belongs to the cooling system must be cleaned separately. You should not disassemble your laptop on your own because it will void the warranty. It must be done by authorized personnel only.

To do this, you should contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can help you with any other matter related to the hardware or software on your laptop.

How to find the closest to ASP?
Visit the Toshiba support page on http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > find an ASP and uses ASP index it.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite Pro A40 - overheating message

My A40 has been left on a bed - air fan has been blocked. I have stripped and cleaned the fan and the heatsink, and reassembled. Now it works for a few minutes then the error message "The CPU is overheating stop please" is using XP Home.

I check the air inlet and the fan turns - hot air that comes out but not excessively hot. Is there a hardware reset to stop this message or permanent damage to be made?

    Hello

When you put the CPU back you apply new thermal grease. If you do not, then it would cause the error.

  • Portege R500 - overheating?

    Hello

Recently one of my colleagues has experienced problems with its Portégé R500 laptop. The display becomes either black with white text (but the image is cut and very blippy) or the screen goes black in general. The laptop is very warm to the touch when this happens and if turned off then turned on the power LED lights, but no other LEDS as HARD drive / wireless as usual.

However, if during a few hours, it turns on the property. I decided it was overheated and was ready to RAM the machine, but when it came to me rehearsing heat / hardware failure with many stress tests the phone performed very well for hours even with 90-100% charged all the time.

This problem would anything other than overheating itself? I don't want to RMA a machine without symptoms, but at the same time, it is inappropriate to pass back to her so she can do her job on. I already have a can of compressed air, so this isn't the venitlation / fan is defective.

    Thank you very much.

    Hey Buddy,

Theoretically, it could be an overheating problem, but it could be another problem as well. This should be checked by a technician of the laptop. It is very difficult to say what is defective, so you need professional help.

It is good that you have already cleaned the fan using a jet of compressed air, but maybe the thermal compound must be renewed. Just ask a service provider authorized if it of necessary and if they can do it for you. :)

  • Equium A300D - overheating problem

This laptop has been to PC World Techguys twice and the fan was cleaned up - a local PC engineer has also had the laptop and cleaned and tested with cooling devices but still it does not work - it suggests that it is a hardware problem.

    Can anyone help?

    > Can anyone help?
    Laughing out loud

    What about now?
I mean if the laptop technicians say it s a hardware malfunction and has nothing to do with overheating, the laptop must be repaired and pay for it if it s not under warranty anymore.

I think that no one here can help you. It s a user forum to only and if the equipment is defective, it needs replacement. That's fact!

  • Equium A60-199 randomly shutting down - could it be overheating issue

Hi, I am writing on behalf of a friend who knows his laptop A60 closing unexpectedlly... (she says that he stopped after a few minutes, or when she tried to open Firefox)

    Details of system
Toshiba Equium A60-199 Model No.: PSA67E-00J00C8J
    18 GB free & 19 GB used
    512 MB OF RAM
    CPU Celeron 2.93GH

    Running Windows XP Home
    NIS 2006

I took a look at distance and was about 30 minutes without any problem using FF logmeinitreach... There was nothing showing in the event log manager, for the time of day, that it would close down all before... so I was wondering if it is a faulty power supply?

Everythng is going on well just clicked on the analysis of complete system of Norton Internet security which has not been run in a long time and the PC, stop NOW, it will not restart everything. ??

Apparently she can hear some buzzing but nothing happens... (which I think might well be the blow fan)

Advised her to let a little and about 2 hours later, she was able to turn it back on... I wonder if it could be overheating. ??

Apparently he is 3/4 months than what was going on then ceased to happen and started again...

Please can you give me some advice on how to clean it - other than to take it to a hardware shop

I downloaded the A60 user manual and have themselves asked to confirm what show the lights - in an attempt to check overheating
    is the question...

I've also read online "you can spray compressed air into the gills of admission but not airflow vents to help get rid of the dust and debris." I have looked at the manual and can see 2 lots of mouths... It is on the side and the other on the bottom, is e eintake the one on the side? I literally direct the air on side air intakes and the spray?

When you ask him if she knows that when the fan is always, sometimes on, never an etc. she was thinking ot is ALWAYS on... who'd show up again overheating...

    Hello Cathy

I also believe that the sudden stops are the result of overheating. If the dust is blocking cooling air flow grill is blocked and material can reach the critical temperature of material very fast. Sometimes you can start any application pre-installed, the CPU usage goes to the next level and laptop will suddenly stop.

The laptop should be cleaned as soon as possible. If you have no experience with the disassembly procedure I recommend you contact the closest service and the laptop must be cleaned on professional way. It costs a little bit, but you can be sure that you use Notepad for a longer period of time.

If you need the addresses and phone numbers to contact the ASP (authorized service provider) please visit http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads.

    Bye and good luck!

  • Screen jumping and overheating issues on my Satellite Pro M30

    Hey everybody!

I have a Satellite Pro M30, the screen seems to wobble a bit, probably due to a loose hinge. Can you please help me with this problem?
In addition, my laptop seems to overheat, how do I clean the dust to stop overheating?

    Thank you

    Hi mate!
For the screen issue. As it is a hardware thing, I suggest that contact you a local ASP. Of course, you can try by yourself to this problem, but I can say from my own, fitting the screen isn't the easy thing to do on your own, if you have no experience in that.

To clean your laptop from dust, you can use compressed air jet. Also make sure the cooling modules are not blocked by objects on your table, because if you've blocked, warm air ponds and cannot be updated.

I got my Satellite A300 about 10 months ago. There always have a badly taken power.
A little tugging or pulling up to my laptop, the power cable when falls.
Is intended for it be loose? Does anyone else have this problem?
I don't know if I should use my warranty to have it checked.

I also overheating, blacken and freezing problems.

    Hello Teresah

I wonder really after that 10 months you did nothing to solve this power plug the question.
Why don't you contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider? I guess that laptop has guaranteed valid and these issues can be fixed for free.

Be careful with this stuff power and contact the service as soon as possible. I don't know where you live but the complete list of all authorized Toshiba service providers you can find on the Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > download & support > find an ASP.

With the service guys, you can also discuss abut all other issues you mentioned in this announcement.
I am also owners A300 and use my laptop about a year now. I use my laptop every day for my work and it runs more than 8 hours a day. So far, I did not notice any hardware or software problem. I ve defined the parameters of power management the balanced diet combined with the minimum level set in the cooling method option. Laptop runs quiet and, at the same time, has enough power for my daily activities as Internet, office applications and Skype.

  • Satellite Pro A60 - is overheating and shuts

    Hello

I have a problem with my A60. I start and everything goes OK. I put in a temporary monitoring software because it works for awhile and then just stop. What I see happening now, is that it will heat up to 65 then the fan comes on and at 55 it stops. This can happen a few times, and then he forgets turn on the fan. After that he climbs slowly until she happens to 85 when he cuts. I bought a stand 3 fans and now it stays on as long as when it goes on the fan circuit anointed, gets it to 77-80 and stays on. The problem is if I USE then overheating and stop again.

What control actually (and fails to start) the fan cut in the process. This part of the function of the BIOS? Updated BIOS ver 1.7 to ver 1.9 will make a difference? I'm afraid that this update will not end before overhearting and I'll be left with an unusable machine.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    >.. .a finds a way to fix it properly.
This type of hardware components are not fixed but replaced so if you think that the cooling fan is defective exchange it.

One more thing, the vacuum cleaner is OK, but you can't wait to clean up your laptop to look like new. I disassembled my Satellite M70 and was surprised how much dust was inside.
Just after the withdrawal of the ventilation openings, I was able to clean it properly.

  • Question about drivers (hardware manufacturer vs toshiba drivers)

Is it better to use the drivers supplied by toshiba (nvidia, synaptics,...) or should I install it from the official hardware manufacturer as they have newer drivers than the toshiba site.

Generally the drivers of Toshiba page should be used because these drivers are tested by Toshiba.
For example, the Toshiba display driver supports some kind of overheating protection and reduce clock down the GPU so the temperature would be too high in this case the performance for a short period, but that would lower the temperature as far as I know, that don t chip manufacturers drivers are supported by this feature
So the use of these drivers is at your own risk

However, you can install drivers page maker Synaptics. There is no risk.
