Have attempted to authenticate Windows 7 several times...

I have some of my computer staff have read the product key off the coast of the authentic Microsoft sticker on the bottom of the Acer laptop... Number of model ICL50, several times and tried to pass the criteria of Microsoft for the authentication of Windows 7 and always got the same answer, "don't recognize not the product code"... as far as I know, the program on this computer has not been amended or updated since we bought it's new, but I can't be positive It's true, as it was used by my grandson a few times.  What the move the following alternative now? I don't want to buy another copy of Windows 7 just to get a different product key, after already paying for this copy with this computer. I wonder why authentication suddenly has to be done again, well after we bought this unit?

Sue Swanson

Make sure that you actually read the product key (which is alphanumeric - consisting of 25 letters and numbers).

Verify that the edition of Windows 7 installed matches with what is listed in the COA key.

Click Start > right click on computer > click Properties

Go to the Windows edition section

Now look at the COA sticker to see if it matches with her.

If this is the case, try the phone activation:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

(2) press the ENTER"" key.

(3) select your "country" in the list.

(4) choose the option "activate phone".

(5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

    What happened to the button on the left end of the address bar which allow you to see the pages you had been so that you don't have to click the back button several times? You can look at the drop down window of pages and just choose whatever you want. I use it all the time and it is not on FF4. I want to go back to the old FF.

    If you right click on your back button, or click and hold down the mouse button, it will display the list. (I prefer a click-right, because sometimes my fingers slide when I try to click and hold)

    Hi @Vishalwagh123,

    Welcome to HP's Forums a great way to get help. It's a great place to find answers and advice! Thanks for the post.

    I understand you have questions turn on/off the device and you must press the power button several times for him to start. I'll be happy to help you.

    Please try these steps first. Perform a hard reset.

    • Steps to do:
    • Turn off the computer and unplug the charger. Then remove the battery.
    • Press and hold the power button on the unit for 15 seconds to carry out the static electrical charges inside the machine.
    • Replace the battery and the charger plug it back. Try to turn on the computer.

    If it fires up immediately the issue is resolved. Otherwise, try to turn on the computer without the battery and check that it works immediately.

    In your message, you said that it works very well with the charger. However, I need more clarity here to help you better.

    It works immediately when the adapter is connected and the power button is pushed only once?

    If you again press the power button several times, it may be a faulty power button, and you will need to contact the hotline at the service of the unit.

    Let me know what happens when you try to turn on the unit without the charger?

  • Computer not start, screen black, I have to turn on and off several times (I have Vista)

    When I turn on the computer, you hear the sound that is running, but I get a black screen with a white underscore on the upper left. Click on keyboard and nothing happened. I must turn on and off several times and then I get the Windows Vista logo.

    If the 2 methods below do not work, you may have to reinstall Vista:

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not work, try to make a Bootable ERD to do a Startup Repair:
    As is the case with most computers/laptops these days, they do not come with good Vista disc to repair only the recovery disks.
    As your grave in the category above, download the ISO on the provided link and do a repair of the disc.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    You can make a tool to restart system, System Restore, etc. with it.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use it.
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista repair disc.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    There is not a disk of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    See you soon.
  • Help - HP Pavilion a6030.uk desktop computer. Have to press the power button several times to start?
    Hello
    I have a HP desktop computer. The model is HP Pavilion a6030.uk, Opertating system: windows vista.
    My computer has had no problems at all until yesterday for some reason, I had to push the switch several times to start until he finally turned and did normal starts. As I would press the power as normal to start button, but all of a sudden, it turns off after about 2 seconds and so I would tap on the switch several times and each time it will not start and turn off, then the power button could be pressed again until it would finally turn on and start and run as normal and seems to work correctly. And it was the same thing today, I pressed the power button mutiple times (for example 6 times) until she finally started as usual.
    Savvy/computer im not very well informed or wise in this area, please someone will help me and give me some advice/help to fix/resolve this problem.
    Thank you for taking the time to read this and any help would be appreciated for this problem.
    Thank you.
    Vonbon90, welcome to the forum.
    When I see these symptoms on an old computer, I think it may be a power supply (PSU) failure/ing.  Here's a guide that will help your troubleshooting it.
    In addition, you could test the memory.  This can be done by removing all modules of memory and replacing them one at the time and start.
    Please click on the Thumbs up button '+' if I helped you and click on "Accept as Solution" If your problem is resolved.
    I can't start my Vmware.Windows screen loads several times.
    I have attached the images (picture1 and icture2) of the Windows screen and vmware log. kindly help.
    Thank you
    Satya
    Hi Satya,
    VMware Workstation 8, would have been nice to mention that in the subject because it is several years that he has been released and people might think - wrongly - that it is the last workstation.
    According to your attached newspaper, your CPU in the host is unable to enter long mode.
    So either the CPU is not capable of running 64-bit or you need to enable VT in the BIOS and cold restart it.
  • monitor flickers, after having turned it on, have to turn off and on several times to make it work
    The monitor flicker
    When I turn on my monitor it flickers, then return, must turn on and off several times and then finally works.  Just started in Charleston that happens, it's a sign that my monitor is exhausted?
    Hello
    This should ask in the answers – Windows Forums for your version of Windows.
    --------------------------------------
    Check the cable at both ends. Try the monitor on another computer because it could be the monitor.
    The issue could be the video card in order to check with the system manufacturer (manufacturer of motherboard for custom
    systems) or if actual video card manufacturer a separate device.
    If there is a separate video card you may need to remove ALL power and then remove and reinstall
    the map - in fact, remove and replace - do not just tight.
    The video driver may need to check updated and then re-installed with sources of support above.
    I hope this helps.
  • Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off. I have to shut my computer down several times a day to turn off the monitor.
    Light (switch) on my screen does not turn off.  So, I shut down my computer and restart several times a day, because when I put it in mode 'sleep', he wakes to the top in a few minutes and will not fall asleep.  I could put a blanket on my screen when not in use, but I'd rather find a way to make it stay asleep when I tell him.
    Light (switch) had already done once before and I was so worried that once I turned off the monitor that I would never get it new on... a bit short of money here, to buy a new monitor, but the next day, I pressed the power button with an additional downward pressure and I could so he could start working again (able to turn the market monitor).  It was about 3 weeks ago.  Now, the light stays green, unless I stop the whole computer.
    Maybe my main problem is sleep mode, which removes the screen for like 2 minutes and then he wakes up to the top and is so rude when I myself and try to sleep, I just turn off the monitor everytime I put the computer to sleep.
    Now, I can't turn off the monitor, except by turning off the computer.
    Error message for several packages of software that I installed, including Outlook and Adobe. Where can I get a copy of the correct file to copy on the wrong file I have. I have no installation disk, and need this file to be correct.
    Looks like some sort of malware infection.
    I suggest talk us a bit about your system and then run the scans indicate below, then when the scans is clean, the persistent problems.
    What is your system brand and model?
    What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
    Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
    The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?
    If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
    This will minimize back Q & A and eliminate guesswork.
    While you wait, I could do this:
    No matter what you use for protection against malware, perform the following analyses for malware, then correct any problems:
    Download, install, update and do a full scan with these malware free
    detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
    They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
    The scans by operating clean, then to solve any problems.
    How to stop what is happening?
    Windows provides three updates on several occasions: they say KB2518864, KB2633880, KB2572073 they have updated successfully THREE times in the history of my update. I ran MS troubleshooting three times. It has not solved the problem. I ran douja and it found no malicious software or problems. I also ran Spybot which also did not find any malware, etc. issues. I have currently Macaffee running also which did not find anything. In the meantime, I'm always offered the same three updates. Really annoyed with it now.
