  These were related to pool corruption (memory) probably caused by old drivers, the lacts of Service Pack 3 and Avast

  I would update these drivers, remove Avast and replace it with MSE and updated to Service Pack 3

  Your license for the 4.4 release will not work with version 5.7, you can download it without doubt, but if you do not have version 5.7 download then it won't do much good.  If you do not have a license for it so you won't be able to use it beyond use of the trial.

  Of course you can. It doesn't matter what previous version or platform, but as Bob said, the full version is usually cheaper if you shop around and do not buy directly from adobe.
