  Hi veryslow, please disable graphics hardware acceleration.

  You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

  Then perform the following steps:

  1. Open the Firefox Options tab as follows, click on the menu button

     

     then select Options.

  2. In the Options of Firefox tab, click Advanced, and then select general.
  3. You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Uncheck this box.
  4. Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

  Not sure what you mean. 'New' features such as the non-flou filter come only with PS CC, which is not yet released. Your technical questions have nothing to do with it, but without information system we are unable to help you diagnose the problem.

This problem may have something to do with the firmware. Have you tried a pram reset-command/Option/P/R key and the power button for three chimes at startup?   Sorry, it's a question of support of Windows, the Windows taskbar does not part of Firefox. I do not use Windows 8.1 myself, and I don't know if the process is the same as on my Windows XP - but maybe click and hold and drag this bar down might work like on Windows XP.
