    6. as a result, select your C: drive and the option "Extend Volume". Your computer will automatically select the empty spaces available on your hard drive and you can change them if you want to do.

This desire. Not. Work. for system volumes or boot or a partition on which the pagefile system is located.

In addition, the GUI (using the disk management) method only works with volumes 'simple' or 'split', which are forms of "Dynamics" volumes and volumes of"base" that most of the people have set up.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/314343

Given that the OP asked about the increase in the size of the partition system (my Partition NTFS which contains Windows XP) which is probably also the boot partition as where the pagefile, the posting is irrelevant.

  • Portege R700 rebuild, ended up with two partitions

    Hello

I did a full rebuild of my R700 since the recovery Tosh media today.

Since I have a relatively small hard drive (120 GB SSD), I wanted to just have a drive. Worst of all, I certainly didn't want to have all files on the C: drive by default username more little that has all the apps.

Can the two be easily merged partitions or am I buggered here? To specify me if honestly, I don't know what I would do differently even when there is no option in the reconstruction.

For now, everything is on C:, including all the user and document records, on the D: there is a folder called "HDDRecovery" which I think was put there when the system has been rebuilt.

    Suggestions appreciated!

    Thank you

    Alastair

    > Can the two be easily merged partitions or am I buggered here?
Well, the recovery disk created these two partitions automatically because the second contains the files on HARD drive recovery and option which means that you might be able to recover the HARD drive unit.

But two partitions can be merged together; Look for the free tool called GParted
    http://gparted.sourceforge.NET/

You can also use the internal option of the Windows operating system.

In disk management, you can delete the second partition and can then lay the first partition.
    It should also work.

Why is it two hard disks?
And called Vista one 21.5 GB free and the other has 71.2 GB free.

    Thank you.

    Hello

According to my experience, the Vista operating system to the second partition for data backup. It s necessary and important if you want to restore or repair the Windows operating system. This is a new feature in Vista!

    > So if you get full my laptop will automatically use it?
No, it will automatically switch to the other partition if the first partition is full.
You must point to the second partition if you want to store data on this second partition.

Thanks for posting your question on the Forums of community of Microsoft.

I suggest for the link and follow the steps in the article:

    Delete a hard disk partition:
Important: All the data on a partition will be lost when you delete it. Be sure to back up all the files you want to save to a different location before you start.
Note: You cannot delete the partition on which the operating system is installed.

I don't know any way in XP except by specialist partition management software. I use Acronis Disk Director, but it costs! There may be some freebies autour but none I have meet in so I wouldn't comment on their reliability and efficiency, or even their ability to do what you want.

  • Can I have - 2 operating system installed and running in two partitions of hard drive to my desktop computer?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit (a copy of the license), preloaded in my office by DELL from 20/02/2007. Before that from July 2002, I was with Windows XP Professional Pack 1 with fireplace (a copy of the license of the version DT. 25 October 2001). Because I have to go to another State for a new job, I gave the IBM Office to my friend. But the CD with operating system Windows XP pack1 is lying idle with me. I want to install the same in another partition of the hard disk to present Desktop DELL. I have partitioned my hard drive in the goal - C:\ and D:\. Now, I want to know, before you proceed further - is my scheme is feasible? The two O.S. will work in two separate partitions with regularly updated? I visited the "historical update file" and I noticed that Windows XP Professional Pack2 and Pack3 has been downloaded one installed in the system. I will give you more time using Windows XP Professional if loaded correctly in D:\ because it is more compatible with my professional needs. I invite suggestions from my learned friends.

    Thanking you in advance,

    SONIA.

  • is windows 7 x 64 support MBR & GPT two partition types

is windows 7 x 64 support MBR & GPT two partition types

    Hi Afonso

It can be used as a boot volume on x 64 editions of Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008. From Windows Server 2003 SP1, GPT disks can also be used as a boot on Itanium-based systems volume.
Note Windows only supports booting from a GPT disk on systems that contain startup packages Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI).

    Creation of GPT disks

You can only convert empty, no disks partitioned (raw disks or empty MBR disks) in the GPT format. To convert a volume that contains the data, you must first manually remove the partition. You can use the following methods to create GPT disks:
After you install a new disk, open the disk management console to start a wizard that allows you to configure the new drive. The wizard includes options to initialize the MBR or GPT disk.
Initialize the disk later by using the option initialize the disk in the disk management console.
Note starting with Windows Vista, you can install a Windows x 64 on a GPT disk operating system, only if the computer has UEFI boot firmware installed. However, the installation of a Windows x 64 on a GPT disk operating system is not supported on Windows XP. Try to do so gives an error.
    Readers convert GPT and MBR

You can convert a format of partition in a different format. For more information, see the TechNet articles:

  • How can I install Windows 7 on a desktop Dell running two Partitions XP?

We have a Dell XPS 400 machine running Windows XP Home Edition with two partitions, the ethat on is used, and then an elder who has been corrupted and restored.  Nevertheless, we have tried to install Windows 7 Professional 64 - Bit Version on a CD.  When we tried to install it as usual, it wouldn't read the disc... we tried it in two disk drives at startup and under XP.  A way to solve this problem?

You cannot start the installation to a 64-bit version of Windows 7 from Windows XP, you must boot from the disc and select the partition during the installation where you want to install Windows 7.

After inserting the disc of Windows 8, restart your computer and boot from the DVD.

To learn how to change your BIOS options to boot from the DVD drive, the following tutorial:

    http://notebooks.com/2011/05/05/How-to-load-BIOS-and-change-boot-configuration/

    -----------------------------

When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

    Hello

I am looking to buy two beginner tutorials for AS3 for my HND interactive media students.  They are required to create an application with basic navigation buttons and content driven, maybe a gallery of pictures too.  Some students have difficulty understanding the foundations, e.g. functions etc.  I'm also looking for the extension exercises for students who understood that.

Any help would be appreciated.  I am familiar with Doug Winnie, but find its too advanced tutorials.  I also know the lack of manual Flash.

  • Two Partitions of BootCamp, cannot start second of two.

I created manually two partitions Bootcamp as each boot fine using BootCamp. The images have already worked as unique BootCamp partitions.

    Windows 8.1 is on/dev/disk4s2, Windows 7 x 64 on ./dev/disk4/s3

When I create an automatic configuration of BootCamp, it built a virtual machine with two partitions of/dev/disk4s2 Startup - Windows 8

I have reproduced the configurations, but created new disks:

    Create the Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmware-rawdiskCreator applications/VMware\ $ / dev/disk4 3 ide BootCamp7

    Create the Fusion.app/Contents/Library/vmware-rawdiskCreator applications/VMware\ $ / dev/disk4 2 BootCamp8 ide

I then removed the old files vmdk and pt-vmdk beams, added these and edited the VMX to reflect the name change. The discs appear correctly in the GUI.

The configuration of Windows 8 on slice 2 boots fine, but Windows 7 on unit 3 eventually try to boot from the network with a boot disk not found. The BIOS is configured correctly and sees the drive. Settings is configured to boot from the hard drive.

    What Miss me?
