If you are connected directly to a cable/dsl modem, then firstly download Avast or even Microsoft Security Essentials (both free). Then, disconnect from the Internet and uninstall McAfee. Install the antivirus of your choice and test. If all goes well, your problems have been caused by McAfee. This is not surprising since McAfee is perhaps the worst choice for safety, we could do.

• Firefox is not responding
