Laptop locked after phone scam.

Separated from this thread.

Hello..

Someone claiming to be an empoloie of microsoft and trying to 'help my mother' to clean his laptop hacked the mother... (Thank God it's an old laptop and something not really interesting inside to be stollen) and instaled a password when you want to resart windows... (my mother has not requested a password before)...   The problem is that it is locked and can't do anything with this laptop?

What should do?  Throw the laptop and buy him a new one?  or try to clean everthing in the pirate laptotp and install from the beginning a new window.  ???

Hello

We can not help you with passwords here, due to the policy of Microsoft.

Do not throw.

I suggest that you reinstall the operating system.

See you soon.

    Hello world

I have a really annoying problem.

My laptop is locked after I use it for several minutes.

When I say locked, I want to say it is the place where shows my account name and below it says locked.

As a first step, I think it is caused by the automatic locking of cuz I'm really annoyed by this last, I uninstalled it.

    However it still does not.

Could someone tell me what the problem is on the Earth?

It's maybe just because I really don't know with my new laptop.

It's a power setting that determines how long before its entry in the screen saver, sleep more, or even in hibernation mode. You can change the requirement for a password (somewhere in the Windows screen saver section) or the duration before entering these modes (you should be able to define with the Lenovo Power Center thing). Of course, making one is a security risk, but it is up to you as to how much safety or comfort desired.

  • HP Pavilion x 2 10-n011nl (Suns: laptop locked after upgrade windows 10)

Two days ago, I bought a HP Pavilion x 2 (red sunset) 10-n011nl and immediately I started upgrading Windows 10. This medication is ok (no error message), but the first new starting system, the machine is in a loop! Only a black screen with white logo of HP and animation circular points. It is impossible to stop this, none CTRL-ALT-DEL or other. I have to wait for low battery condition (more then 6 hours!).

And even once, he repeats the loop.

    What can I do?

    Thanks in advance

Because it is new, maybe start to type Esc as soon as you press the button start.  That should bring up a menu before starts the boot process.  In this menu, click F11 to run the recovery.  Who will restore the PC to 'new factory' and retry the upgrade of Windows 10.  You might want to try the media creation tool page, if it fails again.

If your computer is bad, you need to do a system restore. Since it seems that you can not stop, try to hold the power button until it turns off. If this does not work, unplug (if laptop, remove the battery).

From there on, allows to do a restore:

    1. turn the computer on and start to tap F8 to get the start menu
    2. Select repair your computer
    3. Select System Restore
    4. Follow the prompts

If the restore point is older, feel free to use the Scan for affected programs feature to make sure that no other programs are affected. Otherwise, I would make a note of it, as it will have to reinstall these programs. In addition, I was running updated Windows once your system working again, since you will most likely use a restore point set up just before an update. (no point in re-opening of a security breach)

  • What to do when the guard Apple logo appear and you lock your phone?

II had my iPhone 6 s for about a week now and had no problems with it. However, from time to time, he unexpectedly keeps showing the sign of the apple logo and locks the phone. But after unlocking it, as usual.

Everything is up to date on my phone. However, what this mean and what do I do?

You have a case on it? Is it possible that the matter is pressing the sleep/wake button? If so try without the case for a while to test.

If the problem persists I would take it back to the Apple Store. Although there are other things to try, a new phone should not behave this way.

So I tried to put the ROM, but even once, I get the same errors.

I just want to lock it again. Can someone help me?

    Thank you!

    Oh! Now I got it!

So, just in case a person is confused, as if I was, here's how. First, find the right ROM. Then go into fastboot.

    fastboot oem lock start

You will get the message that has the title "Please full flash version signed before locking the phone" (which should have been obvious I know, but I thought it was an error). However, after that this message that you Flash the ROM as you would. For me it was:

    fastboot flash partition gpt.bin

  • [Security app] How to lock your phone by sms?

In the application security or lesafe, there is the anti theft protection. It's really nice, you choose a security code and you can lock or whipe your phone. You must send an sms on the phone. After the introduction, it is "password #SD" to lock the phone. But if I choose 123456, sending 123456 #SD doesn't lock anything

What can I send to lock the phone?

Finally solved: you must send the code #SD, so no space in-between code and #SD. example: 123456 #SD

So I bought a new iphone 6 s 64 gb a few weeks ago, I used it for 3 days and then I put it back in the box because I wanted to give it as a gift and today I connected it to iTunes I have restored and updated to the new ios and after that, I had the lock icloud with a yahoo email screen and I myself I had never even used yahoo I don't know not this e-mail even origin of the same if the iphone is new even I removed the plastic box so I don't think that someone used in front of me.

IM panic I don't know what to do!

    * I used the app store - and the icloud was clean it was nothing there

    Help, please!

    Thank you!!!

Unfortunately, while you are not using iCloud - your phone is. Unless you are the lucky guy who can skip this step, your phone is so activation locked after the use of three days. And if it isn't you who locked, it's even worse, cause then your chances to unlock are even worse.

Fortunately if buy you a few weeks - you still have original and can call Apple for help. Just be received valid legit Apple dealer.

  • Microsoft Technical Support phone scam

Hello, I recently received a call (about 5 minutes ago) from Microsoft. They claimed to be Microsoft technical support. They told me that my computer has sent a lot of warning and error messages to Microsoft. They said that messages and stuff said that my computer had downloaded malicious software malware and it could damage my system and internal hard drive. Then they told me that they did not answer me and now called for helping me solve this message. (I stopped to think about what they said because I had been having a lot of problems of slow boot and Windows taking almost 5 + minutes to start). So I played along for a while, but only for a minute. The first guy says let me connect to our senior technical specialist or something like that. Then I logged. The second guy says: "Hello my name is ___ Snyder (I remember only the family name)." They have given me in my observer of events and after I hung up with suspicion and Bishop/confidentiality. They tried to call me again, but I rejected the call. Please give me advice on this issue. I want to know if it's a scam to take over my computer and steal my identity, etc. or is it really Microsoft tries to help to fix my computer.
Some info on the "technical support guy":
Both were men. We had a strong accent from the Middle East while it had a slight accent Middle Easterners to it.
One of the men claimed to be the main _ (don't remember the average Word) specialist. It was called _ (don't remember the name), said Snyder.
Track of the location of the call. Approximate location is the New Hampshire, USA. This is as far as I know
Help, please! Also give suggestions on anything that might be necessary to change etc.

  • Phone scam. Call claiming to be from Microsoft.

    Original title: phone scam

Received a call from 23-456-7809 today, and he told me he worked for Microsoft and said that my computer has a lot of viruses from the internet. He was also an Indian man. Then he told me to go to run and type 'inf', from there, he said all these files affect my computer and remove any that you don't recognize. I delete anything thankfully. After that he told me to type something else in the Run dialog box and causes the word "cat", I don't remember what the rest of it was but it was a www site. This is when I knew this guy was playing me. I was not followed to type in the site "www" and "cat" in the Run dialog box. I hooked immediately after. My question is if I am at risk because I typed in 'inf '? Give him no personal information or credit card etc. numbers. Just did my Norton anti virus run and 36 risk came after the call that have been removed from my computer. I've was type in 'inf' in the run box for this guy, Im right ok?

It took anytime control of your computer? The part 'cat' makes me leary. If it did not control, he could well have stolen information that puts you at high risk. insofar as a bank or other sensitive sites, you have the passwords for.

  • Phone scam Australia - information and report

My husband received a phone call earlier today, a woman with a strong Indian accent, saying she was from the Windows Support on behalf of Microsoft.  She said our computer had sent several error messages to Windows and the computer would crash in 24 hours.  He doesn't know even how to activate it, so he asked her to call back after work, when I'm home.  She recalled, and I said that I was eating so she could call back in an hour, because it sounded suspicious and I wanted to check online and see if I could find out whether it could be legitimate or not.  I saw the warning on the site of Microsoft Australia and also google and read a lot of posts about people getting ripped off and I have taken note of what they would ask.  Nancy recalled, and said she would put me through to a technician who could help me solve my 'problem '.  A man named Patrick, very strong Indian accent, asked me to do a number of things to get to the place where I could look and say that I could see triangles of gold and files with red crosses next to them and I said yes, even though I had yet to open anything.  He said there would be a single registration fee and then it could set.  I call it a lie you know what and a few other choice things and hung up, but I managed to get the company name and website address, if they are real, and they are as follows:

And here's what you need to do if you fall for it.

We have all the errors and warnings in our Event Viewer

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You are the only person who knows if you gave them remote access.

If you gave them remote access and you do Internet banking, contact your bank, to explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.
