HELP - after installing Windows "updates important' all of a sudden my software no longer works!
I am a user of Final Draft 7 (writer) - not a computer expert. I allowed the updates to be downloaded and installed, and suddenly my screenwriting software gives me an error message that says 'Windows has shut down to final draft' and if there is a solution, I will be notified, but then nothing happens. I know I look stupid, but I don't have the time to become an expert on Windows. I need my software to work with Windows to do my job! Anyone know why this is happening and what I can do about it? Help

Hello
Welcome to the Forums Community Microsoft and thanks for posting the question.
According to the description, you get an error message "FAILED CONNECTION USER INIT" after installing Windows updates.
From my research, this problem occurs if the Userinit key in the Windows registry has been changed. For example, this problem may occur if the Userinit key has a value, but no binary data.
I suggest you follow the steps mentioned below.
Method 1:
Step 1: Start the computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Step 2: Check the value and binary Userinit registry data
Important: The following instructions contain the steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information, view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Note: The placeholder of the hard drive refers to the drive on which Windows Vista is installed.
f. close the registry editor.

Method 2:
Restore the system to an earlier point before installing this application.
System Restore can return your files system to a point in time before you noticed a problem, without affecting documents, photos, or other personal files. If the system restore does not resolve the problem, you can undo the restore operation and choose a different restore point.

I did the update and lost contact dell drivers pad and now I can't play all the games that I got on the computer. The previous update lost my sound card drivers.
Hi Craig,.
Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.
I'm sorry to know that you are facing problems after installing Windows updates.
Any Windows specific update which is the origin of the problem or you face the problem after installing updates? This is to check if the updates you receive are associated with hard devices.
To view your history of update, follow these steps:
a. open Windows Update by sliding into the right edge of the screen (or, if you are using a mouse, pointing to the corner bottom right of the screen, move the mouse upward), tapping or clicking on settings, tapping or clicking change PC settingsand then by typing or clicking on update and recovery.b. press or click view update history.
I wish that you install the Dell Web site touchpad drivers.
You can refer to this article for the procedure: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=1JW07
In addition, if all of the updates are at the origin of the problems with the hardware on the PC, then I suggest you also update the drivers from the Dell Web site chipset.

Get his problem after installing windows update on May 18, 2016
Original title: updated 18/06/2016
Has anyone else been having sound problems with the new batch of updates? I tried to download the drivers, but that didn't work and now I had to restore my system from the 18th daily. Any ideas on how to identify the update is the cause or what driver I may have missed? My computer is a Dell Latitude E5420, running 64-bit Windows 7 Prof. Any other information needed let me know. Thank you!
Hello
According to the description, I understand that you are facing the problem in your computer after Windows installation updated May 18, 2016.
Yes, you can view the installed update so that you can identify the updates that are installed in May 18, 2016.

Click the Start button.
Then select Control Panel > programs.
And then, under programs and features.
Select view installed updates.

Please follow the methods described below to check if it helps:
Method 1: perform a Clean boot and install Windows Update.
If its a major update, I recommend you put the computer in a clean boot state and install it again in order to minimize interference that could cause this noise problem.
Put your system to the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows
Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.
Method 2: uninstall and reinstall the Sound Driver.
- Press Windows + X key.
- Type devmgmt.msc (to open Device Manager)
- Find and select the audio driver.
- Right click on the driver.
- Uninstall the audio driver.
Windows automatically installs the generic driver, otherwise I recommend you download & install audio driver on the website of the manufacturer to check if it helps.

Hi, I use windows vista and for the last two days every time I shut down my computer, load 16 updates. Then when I restart my computer, it will start up repair and system restore. It would seem that these updates are causing a problem launching. 4 are the updates for office 2007, so I don't think it's one of those at the origin of the problem, but the other 12 are related to questions of security and authentication with vista and I suspect this is one of them. Pogo games won't load after installing windows updates
Windows updates were installed last night. I was on the computer at the same time play games on pogo.com. I closed IE and authorized updates run. After installation and restarting, my pogo games will not load. Everything else on the site seems to work fine. Since thiese updates, I had the IE window pop up without be clicked to open, my voip for a short period, does not open. When I discovered the problem with the games, do not load, I tried to clear my NET temporary files, erased the java cache, which usually fixes this kind of problem. It made no difference. I ran disk cleanup, no change. I ran ccleaner, no change. I tried 2 restore points, failed on both. I have Vista OS. There were several updates installed, all but 1 were recommended, most of the rest were for components of microsoft office. I have all the modules of the tool bar disabled except for java, sun microsys, Adobe shockwave, components of Skype and norton/symantic components. I did a norton scan and nothing detected, my software is up to date. I have enough disk hard vacuum to play games online in pogo. pop ups are allowed for ea and pogo games. Should I tryu uninstall update 1 by 1 or what?
Please answer as soon as possible. I tried to call support (@ 5:30 p.m. CST), but there was no answer. I am disabled and spend a lot of time playing games and "intermittent with friends" on pogo. I usually am troubleshooting for my group of friends when they have computer problems, but this has me stumped... Help... Thanks a lot for your suggestions... Lana57DHi Lana57D,
Thank you for using answers Forum.
What happens when you try to load the game?
You receive an error message that you can post on this forum?First thing I suggest is to reset the internet settings for Internet Explorer:
Method 1: Reset the Internet Explorer settings if you have Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8 is installed, you can repair damaged files or missing registration information in Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8. To do this, follow these steps:- Start Internet Explorer.
- On the Tools menu, click Internet Options .
- On the Advanced tab, click reset .
- In the Reset Internet Explorer settings dialog, click reset to confirm.
Then the next thing that I propose would be to re - install your Java installation.
Here is a link to the Pogo site that explains this operation.http://eapogo.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/eapogo.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=5794
Please let us know if that helps.

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL 0x0000000A after installing Windows updates
Blue screen with the following information:
IQRL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUALSTOP: OxOOOOOOOA
I get this error for the second time in two months on a Lenovo R61 laptop after installation of the latest version of Windows Update there is very little time. Sometimes after a few minutes after the start-up of the machine without provication. The first time was the same scenario, but seemed to go away after a week or so mysteriously. I used the laptop for almost a year with no problems before installing updates.
I have Vista pre-installed with the recent updates installed.
I don't have a new hardware or drivers that could lead to conflict - it comes factory all installed on the laptop.
I have 2 GB of RAM, but I have a NVIDIA chipset.
I tried the defragmentation tools, system repair, etc. without change to the problem. Any advice?
Hello
Check the updates of Windows to see if a driver has been updated all the time that these questions came.
Cause
This bug check is issued if the memory paged (or invalid) is accessible when the IRQL is too high.
The error that usually generates this bug check occurs after the installation of the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS.
If you encounter a bug 0xA control during the upgrade to a later version of Windows, this error can be caused by a device driver, system service, an anti-virus or a backup tool that is not compatible with the new version.
Solve the problem
If a kernel debugger is available, get a stack trace.
To resolve an error caused by the faulty device driver or service system, BIOS
- Restart your computer.
- Press F8 to character-based menu that displays the choice of operating system.
- In the Windows Advanced Options menu, select last known good Configuration . This option is most effective when a pilot or a service is added at a time.
To resolve an error caused by an incompatible device driver, system service, virus scanner, or backup tool
- Check the system log in Event Viewer for error messages that may identify the device or driver that caused the error.
- Try disabling the cache in memory of the BIOS.
