Help! Cannot upgrade to Win 10 anniversary - where's my disk space?

It's on my Dell coming Pro with a 'HD' and a SD 64Gig 64Gig

Try to make birthday he updated but I get a message saying I don't have enough disk space, 16 GB required.

Looking at the space on my C drive, I have only 13.9 52 GB free.  I don't have a lot of programs installed.  My Program Files watch 3.64 GB folder folder that I keep my data East of 542 MB.

I have a Windows.old folder because I CN can't get rid of the 3 files in the FileRepository folder, but it is only 132 KB.

My users folder is 5.61 GB and the more important than according to me folder is the folder Windows with 11.2 GB

As I wrote this post, I checked my restore points from the control system.  It was more than 6 GB don't you think that's the problem.  I've lowered the percentage of 20% to 9% and have now 16.5 GB free.

Mikerman - I found the answer.  It's too painful to type it again here (on the shelf), then see it on my other thread here: en.community.dell.com/.../20941391

After the transfer of about a third of my HD 10 Gig by cut and paste, my new external HD 1 terabyte NO SPACE WAS not PERFORMED on my old C:\ drive. He showed only 120 MB of space available on C:\ and none of the file names are not anywhere. The new HD E:\external lists ALL files and showed that about 3-GB had been transferred. Why can't I just clean the old C:\ HD? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Apple suggested to replace the Internet Explorer browser with another and I had Firefox installed, available and repeated downloading and installing successfully. Automatic Updates/downloads have reduced my 10 GB of available disk space 500 MB. I replaced the original 10 GB HD with a new 80 GB drive and additional 128 MB of RAM. Which, as well as my external hard drive 1 TB should hold me until I can afford to replace this 10 year old system. Thank you all for your constructive comments!

    Hello
Since our upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 all my virtual machines get alarms for "Flash disk space" even if none of them have any pictures taken. Even after acknowledge, and clear all alarms it will return.
It also triggered the alarm directly after I deployed a new virtual machine from a template.

  • Envy 14 CTO will not shut, forces hard stop, after the upgrade to win 10 anniversary

After a long wait in Win 10 the Envy 14 finally began to sleep and shut down properly. As soon as the update of the anniversary has been installed, we went back to the questions of the soul. System not completely stops and freezes to force a hard reboot, after that the restart that he stop or sleep is selected manually. If the system can accommodate on its own, then it is more closed or sleep without rebooting.

Course on all drivers and troubleshooting power back shortly to all default values.

    Hello

    Try the following.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close the open windows and restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, download the driver directly from Intel IMEI on the following link, unzip the and run the installer.

    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/download/26127/Intel-management-engine-consumer-driver-for-Intel-nu...

Once the installation is complete, restart the laptop.

When the machine rebooted, re - activate the quick start and restart the computer once more - let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking.

  • Win 7 supported for their OS disk space increase.

Hi all, is it sort of get WIN 7 based OS drive (drive C), I am using 4.6 view environment, ESXi 5.1

As you can see in the screenshot, virtual disks name ends with "...-000003.vmdk" which, most likely, is a snapshot. Given that the virtual disks with snapshots are used as a string, you cannot increase the virtual disk to the virtual machine, but had to delete all the snapshots in order to increase the virtual disk of the virtual machine to base.

  • Cannot patch 4.1 Update 1 - not enough of disk space?

I'm following the KB for esxi 4.1 in 4.1 update 1

    I downloaded the .zip file

I have SSH was in the host and df reports that my partition root has a little over 1.0 GB free on it

    I did the:

    mkdir/tmp/upgrade Pei

I use WinSCP to transfer the 215 MB file, but he died at 200 MB indicating there is not enough space left on root

Any ideas?  I'm not boot from USB

Root will work, or you can simply store the upgrade hotfix on any data store - you must only for the persdion of the upgarde. The upgrade runs while the thew server is in place, then ends at the restart.

  • Cannot complete the Windows backup "there is not enough disk space.

    Original title: backup error

If you use windows 7 home premium backup & restore to backup errors program and says that there is not enough disk space when there are 1.2 to and the space required is 60 GB. Any suggestions?

Check very carefully that the insufficient space, the error message can be generated by the disk you want to save not necessarily the destination drive.

Backup Windows uses the VSS service who need free space on the drive to work. The cause is a lack of space on the system reserved partition and is generated by the VSS recorder.

  • Where's my disk space?

    Hi all

I'm a bit confused about how VSAN calculates disk space available/used.

    Customer Web reports the following:

What is this category 'Others' in the Web Client, which is almost 6 TB?

According to me, I'm missing something obvious, but I am new to VSAN and I have not configured this environment.

    Clues are appreciated.

In my view, as a matter of the Web Client is not not "aware vSAN.  The other is the secondary copy of the virtual disks (assuming that TTF = 1), vm home directory and meta-data.  My vSAN is similar, 11 TB of virtual disks and a bit more in the other.  Thank you, Zach.

  • HP Envy M6: My HARD drive is not bad on my computer? I have reloaded Win 8 and upgraded to Win 8.1 but he keeps crashing

Hi need help and answers from an expert!

My HP Envy M6 Recenly has stopped working correctly, so I decided to recover as soon as possible.  She still had the same problems, so I decided to restore factory with recovery USB flash drive I did.  Always had the same problem happens after I rebooted 8 Win and improved to 8.1.  It would work for a few minutes and stop working I used chkdsk and it says it fixed a few problems with the drive.

I went through the same steps another 3 times!  After each time that once I had that he would be running again after a clean reinstall.  I would like to run chkdsk and it looks like he fixed some error, but last time, it wouldn't or couldn't find some files to run and crashed.  I tried loading Acronis and tried to reinstall the backup from there but that also failed to correct the problem.  I came to the conclusion that my HD is physically wrong?

I guess the recovery process would reformat the partitions before you reinstall so it's not a logic error (software)?  From the recovery partition, the recovery Flash disk media and recovery software acronis can fix this, I can only assume, there is a problem with the drive itself?

Is there a way to check this?  I don't mind replacing the drive to a SSD, so this isn't a problem, but I can't seem to find a product key.  Nothing printed on the bottom.  I read somewhere that it is now integrated with the motherboard bios so can I just use the recovery media that I did on a flash drive?

Also, I have my backup file but I could never find the location of the image my wife loaded as the photo of "lock" screen which I do not have a copy of.  I have the backup files for windows 8.1 by Acronis and according to me, a Windows backup file on a backup drive, but I was wondering if these "locked screen hidden image" would be held somewhere in these data?  It is not under the images and I have never been able to find or understand where windows keeps this image.  I used the search without success.

Of course, this is not critical, but I hate losing this particular image.  I hope it's keep somewhere in my back upward and when restoring with a new drive hard I can reload the backup and restore.

So I really ned knowledge step by step: my HD is bad?  How can I check without having to spend hours to reload only to fail?

Why chkdisk does not?  Or should I simply replace HD and if so what can I use the new disk recovery media and product ID will be accessible through the motherboard?

I intend to upgrade to win 10, but I need Win 8 loading first, then move to 8.1 then move to Win 10?  Also in the future if it crashes how can I recover to win 10? Since it is free now but will not be later.  The upgrade will allow me to make a copy (a copy) to win 10?

A lot of questions, but please provide the fastest solution to my problems and concerns.

    Thank you in advance!

    Hello fmhawaii ;

I read your post on your PC crashing and wanted to help.

It certainly seems that your hard drive has failed.  Some PC allows the drive to check in the BIOS: test a hard drive in the BIOS. HP® customer support

If that confirms that the disc is bad, then you will need to replace it.

As for activation, you are right in that, with Win8x machines, the product key is embedded in the motherboard UEFI firmware, however, the instructions in this link, show you how to recover: find product - key for Windows 8

When you restore from recovery media, which is supposed to automatically read product key, so you will not have to enter something to activate reinstall it.  My guess is that the drive problems that prevented from happening.

Acronis allows you to mount an image file by using a drive letter, and once you do this, you should then be able to browse through the content to find the file you want.  However, depending on what part of the logon icon changed, it might be embedded image in a Windows system file, and unless there is a separate copy of this image, it will be very difficult to recover.  IF you Google it, you might be able to find downloadable tools for disassembly of this file and subseuent extraction of this file.

I wouldn't hurry to Win10, but if you choose to follow this path, don't forget to make a new advance Acronis backup, then you can return to a system of Win8x of work if something is wrong - as the Win10 GoBack function is known to be unreliable.

    Good luck

  • Recovery and upgrade to win 8

I use the HP pavilion g6 2020se runnig real win 7 and plan to upgrade to Windows 8.

I created Hp recovery discs and my hard drive also contains the recovery partition.

Before the upgrade, I have a few q:

    1. will I have dual boot options (win 7 and win 8) after I upgrade? Y at - it a facility during the upgrade to display the partition where win 8 needs to be installed?

    2. after the upgrade to win 8, removing previous installtion of windows 7 (i.e., removal of system "windows.old" folder) will affect the recovery procedures in the future?  More clearly, will be F11 or recovery disks work after doing the deletion above?

    3. If after the upgrade I want to downgrade to win 7 (the same State just before the upgrade), how to ensure that all my win 7 postulants windows updates and stay as it is just before the upgrade.

    Help PLz...

    You are welcome.

Not sure why the link doesn't work, but I'll give you the link below. It worked for me earlier. The optimal path to get Windows 7 on the system is to use the recovery discs. The link is provided to enable the option to use the windows.old folder to go back, but you do not use this option which makes the irrelevant link at this point. But it's a good backup plan.

The recovery discs are intended to operate independently of any software on the hard drive. In fact, this is how the replacement of hard drives is installed. A hard drive goes out, a new one is mounted (and free of any software or partitions), and the recovery discs (the user created or sent by HP) are used to reinstall all of the original software. Little matter if the hard drive is empty or not, but what is important, is that it is the same computer that the recovery discs were made for based on the serial number and other factors. Be assured that the recovery disks will work as long as the material is physically the same and serial number matches, which is coded in the recovery disks.

I used my discs of recovery of Windows 7 on a hard drive wiped several times, including the case using an advanced hard drive "cleaner" to erase all data.

My own experience can enlighten us on that. I installed Windows 8 (or five) about four times on my laptop due to various problems of Windows 8. I will note, the questions were the result of my laptop is too old and not designed for Windows 8. Whenever I returned to Windows 7, I used the recovery without problem discs. This should be the same experience you have.

The only time that the recovery disks can fail, it is if a smaller hard disk replacing the hard drive from the factory.

The answer to the question of recovery of the disc is Yes on both accounts.

The Windows.old folder has nothing to do with the (user created or sent by HP) HP recovery disks. Windows.Old is the culmination of a process of upgrading Microsoft in case something goes wrong, while the old data is not lost. It's more than a safety net which allows to return to the previous Windows without wiping the hard disk entirely. Since the windows.old folder should not be used to go back to Windows 7, think of it as a Museum of old files Windows. There is at this stage as archive.

I hope I answered your questions and removed any doubt about the recovery disks.

  • Cannot install of Windows 10 anniversary update on MacBook Air

    Hi all

When I run the Upgrade Wizard of Windows 10, he told me that I am currently running version 10586 and the latest version is 14393. (from August 03-2016). After I click 'Update Now' to start, I get the following message:

10 of Windows does not run on this PC

This is why 10 Windows cannot be installed:

    CPU: OK

    Memory: OK

    Disk space: OK

! Display: The display is not compatible with Windows 10. Check with the manufacturer for support.

End of 2015 MacBook Air running Windows 10, no problem, the display runs the Intel® HD Graphics 600 driver and Control Panel, everything is OK.

No clue as to what might happen?

    Thank you

  • Pavilion dv6 - 7943cl: win 10 anniversary Version rewrite Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12?

Pavilion dv6 - 7043cl, after winning 10 anniversary update, stop now with "...". a no longer works... "message systematically when I run Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12;  the stop and the message arrive at the time when the application starts, the screen 'welcome. '  It makes the app totally useless - and 5 sessions with the support of Microsoft, 2 of them with level 2 technicians, have not found the answer after more than 12 hours of conversation and many relocations to win 10 and Movie Studio Platinum 12, among other complex of measures which have tried and failed.  The program worked perfectly before the big anniversary update, which is the only difference that I can find which could explain the new stop and the error message.  Support of MAGIX (who took over Sony Vegas software line recently) reported that they were not able to reproduce the problem, but have received a report of a person havaing to reinstall an earlier version of Windows 10 (before the anniversary version) to solve a problem installing with Movie Studio Platinum.  Microsoft has promised to help the resettlement of the earlier version of win 10, for which I have no control points, so I don't know if this will help. Question: it would be useful that I heard speak of someone else for the same problem with Movie Studio Platinum 12 and win 10 anniversary update (later after all 12 Sept.)

While is not a user of HP Pc (I'm on a Sony Vaio) I get the same problem after the big W10 update (from 2 or 3 days)

I have 3 versions of Movie Studio Platinum version 10, 12 (32-bit) version and the version 12 (64-bit).

None of them work anymore, they all freeze at the beginning.

    I have uninstalled/reinstalled without success.

I found an old post (September 2015) in a forum related to a similar problem with Sony Vegas.

The guy said he was set to start when Windows was working in pure 'safe mode '.

So I tried it and it worked in my case for Film Studio.

Maybe you can try it and report what happened.

This being said, using Studio of cinema in 'safe mode' is just a way to test and may not be the way to operate.

I hope that someone can quickly provide a solution, if not I will have a reason more (!) to go to Windows 7.

My trust in Microsoft has droped with Windows10 (as opposed to W7) and the way things are now pushed and forced them to the client.
