Help! Deleting files in the local folder removes the Mac HD files.

After having "achieved" remote folder together, all folders on my desk and all the folders and files related to them (in thousands) appeared in the files of my Local folder Panel. And each of them had a character more next it. Worse, deleting one of these files delete the actual file to my desktop and Mac HD. What can I do?

The + means that it is a folder, click on it to see the files that it contains.

DW does not store the files, just some organizes and works with the files on your desktop, so to delete a file in DW it will remove your HD. This is the expected and correct result.

When you define a site, you must create a folder root for your site to store files (do not use your desktop folder). If you do not create a folder of root to work from, I could see all your office supplies including accidentally in your site. If this is what happened, you need to redefine your site: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/learn-dreamweaver-cs5/gs01-defining-a-new-site/

Everything that was deleted should be restored from a backup, if that's what is happening.

  • Manually change the MAC address

    Hello

a client needs to keep the same MAC address for a virtual computer in its vCenter to import into his org in vCD.

Because this server has an application and that its license is tied to the MAC address, they must keep the original MAC address. I know that I can make this request on vCenter, but not through vCD.

Is there some sort of workaround?

    Thank you.

Maybe you can try to do it with PowerCLI.

  • Deleting files in the AppData folder.

I uninstalled Google Earth because it causes problems and eat hard disk space cache files.   However, Google Earth and Google EarthPlugin files records still exist in a folder AppData/Local low/Google.  Files in these folders combined occupy more than 256 GB of hard drive space.  Can I simply delete these two shirts without causing problems for the rest of my Windows operating system?  The folder AppData/Local low/Google would stay in place.

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community Forums.

Yes, you can go ahead and delete the folders associated with Google Earth.

You can also check out this link to see "Delete files using Disk Cleanup".

If you want to reduce the number of unnecessary files on your hard disk to free up disk space and help your computer run faster, use disk cleanup. It removes temporary files, empty the Recycle Bin, and removes a variety of file system and other items that you no longer need.

  • Deleting files in the Windows folder.

I have $NtuninstalKB... files $ in my Windows folder. I could delete them without affecting Windows?

    P S long

You can remove them without making the overall Windows operatin, the question is why do you want to do this?

I can only guess one of two things...

    (1) you're obsessed with cleaning the Windows folder (and all the others.)  A compulsion.

    (2) you are trying to free up as much space as possible for some reason any.

    Whatever it is...

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

  • What creates the hex files (hexagonal names bracketed) who are accumulating in the appdata/local folder of the user?

I'm running Windows 7 on a recently purchased HP PC (AIO-200-Quad).  I have only a username defined on this PC.  I have a printer installed, Windows Live Mail, IE8, and Office 2010 H & S and Norton Internet Security 2011.

The appdata/local folder for this user keeps getting new hex file of names (long names containing Hex numbers and dashes, surrounded by curly brackets) created in it.  1 to 3 files are created each day since the aftermath of this PC has powered first.  All of these files are empty.  I could not it correlate directly to a specific activity that I still do, although there is some evidence that Norton looking for spam emails is one of the culprits.

What applications or the OS functions create these folders?  Something is adjustable so they are deleted when they are no longer needed? (Disk cleanup does not remove them)  Are they safe to delete directly through Windows Explorer?

I think you'll find that at least some of these records are created whenever the Windows Live installation done his version check twice a day. You can compare the time stamp on files with log files created in the same time to localappdata%\Microsoft\WLSetup\Logs %.

The product team mean (PM) that records are supposed to be deleted when the installation is complete, and if they are not, it could be because the AV software has a lock on them. I do not believe that.

As long as they are empty, they can safely be deleted.

There are video files in my Windows Media Player library that I deleted, but items still appear in my video library.  When I right click on the file and choose 'Remove', nothing happens.  The video files were originally in the folder my music and I deleted them using the Explorer.  However, they still appear in the Media Player library (even if they are not functional - because I have deleted!).  I followed what Umesh suggested GregRN, but that doesn't seem to work for me.  How can I get rid of deleted files appear in the Media Player library?   I use a HP Pavilion dv4 using Windows 7 (64-bit).

  • Deleting files from the downloads folder

Deleting files from my downloads folder delete them will form my laptop?

The downloads folder is mainly a temporary store. What happens after the download depends entirely what they are and what you were doing after download.

Program installers will almost always unpack and create directories elsewhere on the disc in order to remove them from downloads does not remove the actual program.

By default, zip files will create a folder extracted in downloads and will be deleted if the folder is empty.

Photos, documents, music, etc. be elsewhere on your drive if you moved them. As the default drag and drop function within the same drive is move not copy if they are still there, there is a strong possibility that they are the only copy.

  • files appear in Dreamweaver, but not in the local folder

I have set up and set my site... I listed paintingfrance as my local folder where I would like my stored files. So when I opened Dreamweaver, I see all the files on the local folder... tab but when I go to my hard drive and look under the Files\paintingfrance program, the folder is empty. I can edit the files in Dreamweaver and download them - that everything works well, but it's a mystery why they are not in the local folder on my computer.

You have probably two folders named paintingfrance on your computer.

Do a search for files with the same name and when you have found the site folder, delete the empty folder in Program files.

The Program folder files is where the programs install themselves, should not be used to store documents.

First of all, your username cannot be changed and it is not a good idea to have visible on any forum email addresses, unless you like to read the spam.

This issue is addressed in the online help. When you create an output that it is generated in any folder you specify in the source schema. What is in this folder go to the server.

If help is in! SSL! > WebHelp, so everything in this folder, including subfolders is what it takes to go to the server.

  • Files MBOX Google slipped into local dir. for local folder while Thunderbird is closed. I open Thunderbird & the folder is there, but empty, corrupted file name?

I have downloaded from a google account I am trying to download on another account google for work purposes the MBOX files. I started to Thunderbird and a click with the right button on the local folder selected and copy the address of the local directory in a windows Explorer window. I then closed thunderbird.

I dragged and dropped my MBOX files into the directory local and closed, then reopened Thunderbird. Records for the MBOX files were there and a folder for emails, but other folders were empty.

I added IMPORTEXPORTTOOLS and tried to use it, no luck.

I have the Nations Unies/reinstalle Thunderbird, including records of local directory of wiping and I tried with and without import export Tools Add. No luck, the folders are empty, and a new file of .mbox and .msf file is created with a string of alphanumeric characters replace the end of the name instead of a file of similar size and random file, the converted .msf is 2 KB. Something is not conversion.

     Any suggestions?

It worked. It was like the original MBOX files have been compressed double, even though I unzipped and extracted, it needed more extraction.

I had no files with .mbox in the name of the file, or these files come from Thunderbird previously so initially your instructions would have been absurd since I didn't have an Inbox.mbox file. However when you rename the file seems to work thank you.

Thanks for explaining more clearly than on the forums.
