Help: files moved, adjustments have disappeared

I moved a number of files from one partition to another. Unfortunately, I have this in Lightroom2, but in Windows Explorer (XP).

Although I was able to move folders and files in LR, all my settings, ratings and other metadata are gone!

Now I was really freaks out when I move the files/photos back to their original location (where the adjustments had been made), adjustments don't reappear.

How can I get LR2 to apply changes and new metadata to the moved files?

Sidecar files are small files with a .xmp extension which are located according to your originals. They are used to store metadata, such as the IPTC annotations or setting parameters. If you import a Raw file with a .xmp sidecar next to her, all the metadata will be imported from xmp.

    I don't think that is supposed to happen.  You will find messages in Outlook?  Check the location of message storage and see if the dbx files are there.  See also the points 2 and 4 here: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#2

  • POP UP INDICATING A. LOCATION OF THE MSI FILE IS MISSING. FILE SEEMS TO HAVE DISAPPEARED. HOW CAN I RESTORE IT?

    ABOUT 2 MONTHS BACK I HAD PROBLEMS WITH AN HP PRINTER. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN RESOLVED THANKS TO HP. I NOW GET a POP - UP SHOW SMARTWEBPRINTING INSTALLER AND IT ALSO INDICATES THAT this FILE IS NOT FOUND: C:\DOCUME~1\David\LOCALS~1\Temp\7zS5F9F\setup\WebPrinting\ AND I leave THE POP up to OPEN MY INTERNET WINDOW. DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IDEA WHERE I CAN FIND THE SOFTWARE TO RESTORE OR CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? I'VE BEEN IN THE RESTORATION OF THE SYSTEM, BUT IT ALLOWS ONLY A MONTH AND I NEED BACK IN OCTOBER. ALSO, AFTER THIS TEST, I GET A POP UP MSCONFIG WHO SAYS I'M IN THE DIAGNOSIS. I OPEN IT AND IT SHOWS THAT I AM IN NORMAL MODE. HOW CAN I FIX IT?

    Tritonzeus,

    The error occurs in safe mode? See this article for instructions on how to enter safe mode: http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx?mfr=true
    The boot is designed to disable all startup, including your firewall. Once you have own dΘmarrΘ, the error should not appear. From there, you must enable a few entries start both until you have put your finger on what boot entry is initially setup.
    Of course, since this was all caused after installing an HP printer, it may be a good idea to contact HP.

  • Top "toolbar", with icons for help, Internet, trash, etc. have disappeared

    I have everything in the control panel which could apply, the options under tools have known and can't find anything that shows how to activate or deactivate.  I also rebooted and the computer started cold and there's nothing here yet when the office is finished.  What can I do?

    Janelle Hello Holmes,

    You're talking about the toolbar for Internet Explorer or the taskbar that displays your programs as well as the date and time you describe?

    If you mean the bar tasks, click the thread here for some suggestions that can help restore the task bar.

    If you describe the Internet Explorer toolbar, click the following article number.

  • Cannot access the help files.

    I need another way to read the help files. I have the cause is with my satellite ISP and they seem unable to solve the problem. For example, using Safari displays

    "The theme is currently unavailable. Can I access topics help on the web or from another source?

    If you have access to these forums, you should be able to access the help files for Apple.

    Try it this way...

    With Safari open, in the Safari menu bar click help > Safari help

    See it to load for you.

    I just tried Safari help myself and it works great.

    Windows 7 Professional. All help & support files have disappeared. I get the message "help and support files cannot start."

    How to return please?.

    Perhaps.  An analysis of file system I think would replace the help files, but you can try it, there is no harm.  Just open a command prompt (right click and "open as Administrator"), and then type sfc/scannow

  • Cannot set new bookmarks; Some have disappeared; saved but rebuilt; lost a lot more. Help!

    Problem has grown gradually over a period of 2-3 days. First of all, some favorites have disappeared from the toolbar. At the same time, 'Bookmark this Page' has stopped working, and cleared from the list "recently set bookmark". When I followed the recommended procedure Firefox for backup and restore, I repeatedly had the message that Firefox could not process the restoration. Then 3/4ths my bookmark folders disappeared. This happened it try with different dates backup. Now, I find that a number of other people have similar problems. Like some of them, my problem may have begun during a restart because of a deadlock in another program. Mozilla's Support system seems far too complicated, time-consuming and circular, and talking to a person live doesn't seem to be an option. If this is not corrected within the next 24 hours I'm trying other browsers, after use Firefox almost exclusively for several years.

    I see that you have the extension of Maintenance of places. Using this fact no difference to your ability to add bookmarks, or stop losses?

    To test the integrity of your backup files of bookmark, I will suggest you try to restore one or two of them to a new profile.

    Since I'm a Windows user, I apologize in advance if this answer is not entirely applicable to your system.

    Bookmark backups in a convenient location

    Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press enter/return

    In the first table of the page, click on the button 'show in Finder '. This should start a new Finder window. Then, double-click the folder bookmarkbackups . Copy some of your recent backups on the desktop or another location.

    Create a new Firefox profile

    Leave Firefox runs. Start up in the Profile Manager using the method in this article: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

    Notes:

    • Do not delete anything here!
    • Any time you want to switch profiles, leave Firefox and return to this dialog box.

    Click on the button create a profile, give it a name like Test0426 and skip the option to change the location of the folder. Select the new profile from the dialog box, and then start Firefox.

    Test bookmark backups

    Firefox in the new profile should look like a new installation of the plant. You can use the steps in this article to test one or more of the files you copied to your desktop (or another location): restoration of the bookmarks from a backup or move them to another computer (use the option of choosing a file instead of one of the dated options).

    Firefox in the new profile read and restore the backup?

    Return to your Normal profile

    Exit Firefox and look at this article: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox.

    When you return to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the button Delete a profile on Test0426. It's a little too easy to accidentally delete your 'real' profile, so I recommend you to resist the temptation. If you don't want to clean up later, I suggest to make a backup of all your profiles first in case something go wrong.

  • Newly created files have disappeared

    Three days ago, I created a new folder with 10 files in PhotoShop CC 2015. These files were created on one of the three internal data disks only. I have a MacPro OSX 10.9.5, with 14gbs or RAM.

    Yesterday, I opened Photoshop to look at these files. They all are listed in Photoshop just opened, but when I tried to open them, it says that file not found.

    So, I opened Finder, but the directory and all the files are missing. I searched with Spotlight and EasyFind, but they don't return any results.

    I ran Disk Warrior, thinking that maybe the directory for this drive has been corrupted, but the files do not show up.

    I have two backups of this drive. A cloud on Backblaze that is updated throughout the day and on one another internal drive it is updated nightly with SuperDuper. Two of these backup drives also are these missing files. I guess that means, given that I created first of all these new files, they some kind disappeared from my source drive and then were later deleted from the back-ups when they have been synchronized. I don't have a Time Machine drive.

    I ran disk drill and Wondershare data recovery to try to locate and recover these files. The only files that they have located are the versions of these files created by Photoshop Autosave. These versions are not recoverable.

    I have not opened or deleted all the files on this disc, since I created these files. Although OSX or SuperDuper had a brain * and deleted, I think they should be not have been crushed and should be recoverable.

    I worked on Macs since 1994 and PhotoShop since 1998 and I'm not aware of the files disappear on their own, as they apparently did.

    Any advice on:

    1. what else can I try to find these files?

    2. what could have caused to disappear in the first place?

    3. how to prevent this from happening in the future?

    I'll set up a Time Machine disk which I assume would have helped in this case since it is not synchronized in the same way as SuperDuper and Blackblaze, right?

    Thank you.

  • Files and Internet favorites have disappeared

    All my files in the folder my documents have disappeared and so have my internet Favorites.  I have not recently made anything out of an ordinary day, that they were simply not there.  I have a G60 with Vista and use Kaspersky.  The strange thing is that if I open Word, some of my documents is still listed under recent documents.  I can open and edit them but they are not where in the folder my documents (I could re - save in the documents folder, but are not my other folders, which one where this doc would always be there).   Help, please.

    Hello

    Maybe it's your records have become hidden from the operating system.

    A handy utility to view all the files on your PC is called Commander free of charge, on the link below, because it shows files that the operating system normally hides, or which have become hidden and has a search function.

    http://www.SnapFiles.com/PHP/download.php?id=107872&a=7122339&tag=601108&loc=10

    It is a zipped file.  If you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip , which can be used to open it so that you can run the Setup program.

    When it is installed, run the application and use it to browse to where your files should be and see if they are actually still there.

    Kind regards

  • When I start Windows XP, my screen flashes, a help option is displayed in the taskbar and my audio and video have disappeared.

    After I start my system (XP) my audio system works very well. After some time the HELP screen flashes option appears on the taskbar and my audio and video sounds have disappeared. I can hear system sounds. I downloaded Fixit from Microsoft Support for its repair. But when I run it I see a runtime error 80040402. 2-3 days back, I had installed Avast 6.0.100 to get rid of a deadly virus that infected my flash drives. Since then, I have this problem. Help, please?

    Need help with windows defender. all my files folders pictures everythiing disappeared and I find myself with this black screen and it is not all good: o)

    I don't know why vista windows no longer charge, or when the files and folders disappeared

    How Windows Defender is on this problem?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Data recovery:

    1. slave of your hard drive in another computer and read/save your data out there.

    2. put your Hard drive in a USB hard drive case, plug it into another computer and read/save from there.

    3 Alternatively, use Knoppix Live CD to recover data:

    http://www.Knopper.NET/Knoppix/index-en.html

    Download/save the file Knoppix Live CD ISO above.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm
    Download the Vista software from the link above.
    After installing above ISO burning software, right click on the Knoppix ISO file > copy the Image to a CD.
    Knoppix is not installed on your PC; use only the resources of your PC, RAM, graphics etc.
    Change the boot order in YOUR computer/laptop to the CD/DVD Drive 1st in the boot order.
    Plug a Flash Drive/Memory Stick, BOOT with the Live CD, and you should be able to read the hard drive.
    When the desktop loads, you will see at least two drive hard icons on the desktop (one for your hard drive) and one for the USB key.
    Click on the icons of hard drive to open and to understand which drive is which.
    Click the icon for the USB drive and click on "Actions > Change the read/write mode" so you can write to disk (it is read-only by default for security reasons).
    Now to find the files you want to back up, just drag and drop them on the USB. When you're done, shut down the system and remove the USB key.
    See you soon.
  • "Recent places" seems to have disappeared from Windows 7 - help!
    Until very recently, when I opened Windows Explorer, there was a "Recent places" link under "Favorites."  If I clicked it, I got a long list of folders where I had recently opened items.  Suddenly, it disappeared.  I have been looking for help files and Google - find the \Recent Users\ [username] directory folder - but this isn't what I'm talking about.
    Is it possible to get this back?  Pretty please?  It has been EXTREMELY helpful to me!
    You have created a new CATALOG... !  not a collection!  (looking at your screen-clip)
    Re-open your correct catalogue-'Lightroom Catalog.lrcat 5' in the Menu > file > open recent element.
    Select the pictures again, click [+] on the header of the COLLECTIONS Panel.
