  CUDA is the property of nVidia.  OpenCL can normally run on cards from AMD and nVidia.  But for Adobe programs, which only applies to Macs.  Windows users do not have the option of OpenCL with nVidia cards.

  If you use XP/SP2 or SP3, and are fully patched, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.

  To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.

  Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

  In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.

  Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.

  Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.

  First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.

  If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.

  If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.

  It's material is not a Windows problems.

  Then you'll try using Microsoft System Configuration (Windows 7) to determine the cause.

  First hide all Microsoft services and disable all startup and then try your startup, if the problem is gone you have a software conflict

  Go back and start to allow startup items.  Although the document suggests only by selecting one at a time, in an effort to keep some time troubleshooting, I use the 50/50 method and refine then from there.

  I figured out how to activate without a GTX 285 or Quadro CUDA acceleration... I'm sure it should work with the other 200 GPU. Note that I use 2 monitors, and there are a further tweak to play with CUDA in a transparent way with 2 monitors.

  Here are the steps:

  Step 1. Go to the first CS5 installation folder.
  Step 2. Find the file "GPUSniffer.exe" and run it in a command (cmd.exe) prompt. You should see something like this:

  If you look at the last line, it is said the CUDA device is not selected because it is not in the named list of map. It is very good. We'll add it.

  Step 3. Find the file: "cuda_supported_cards.txt" and edit it and add your card (taking the name of the line: the CUDA feature Details: name: GeForce GTX 295 calculate capacity: 1.3)

  So in my case is the name to add: GeForce GTX 295

  Step 4. Save this file and we are almost ready.

  Step 5. Go to your Nvidia driver Panel (im using the latest 197.45) under 'Manage 3D settings', click 'Add', then navigate to your first CS5 installation directory and select the executable file: "Adobe first Pro.exe".

  Step 6. In the field ' Multi-display/mixed-accelerating GPU' spend 'multiple display performance mode' to 'compatibility performance mode '.

  Step 7. That's all. Creation of boot and go to your project setting / general and enable CUDA

I always that it is simple and easy to use (a big plus for aging technophone!) and it is especially useful for letting me know what stores I could shop with through Nectar to increase my Nectar points. Points were also earned to complete the 'research', another useful feature.

  In the past months, I have struggled with this up to the point where I contacted the persistent Nectar. They have kindly added 'free' points to my account to compensate for the fact that I had been unable to use the toolbar or to the shop via the Nectar. They suggested uninstalling and reinstalling the improved version of their toolbar. I tried to do several times, but have failed to be able to access online stores through Nectar and also to add to my total points using the Nectar search tool.

  After trying again, in vain, to reload the toolbar, I now have to find a message from Firefox saying "Nectar Toolbar could not be verified for use in Firefox. Proceed with caution.

  Can you please check this product so that I can continue its use? I don't know how else more to come this problem and would like to make things as simple as they were until this issue has been raised.

  I hope someone can help - but please keep in mind of my state of technophobia and explain things in a way very simple for me (IE without using jargon 'computer' and technical writing!).

  Try Firefox SafeMode to see how it works there.

  To get the orange FF tab, go to view > toolbars > menu bar. This should uncheck the menu bar giving you the orange button.

  Panorama is a box made of 4 gray rectangles which should be on the far right, if not once you activate the orange FF tab, right click anywhere on a toolbar that doesn't has nothing to this topic, and you should get a menu with a list of your toolbars that you can check and uncheck the box.
