  If not, the problem is probably with the drive itself - CD and DVD is access differently if we wouldn't necessarily affect each other.

  Please check in the Device Manager to see if there is a problem with your optical drive. Normally this will be displayed as an exclamation point against the device.

  The fact that the file system is listed as "unknown" is because the drive could not read the format of the disc so that Windors Explorer cannot identify any file structure.

  Your problem could be something very simple like a lens dirty or a faulty device driver. It is not easy to tell from your description exactly what can be wrong, but I would say you try some of the easy options so try first to clean the lens, and if this does not resolve your problem, then try to remove the drive (Device Manager) and reboot for the device will be installed new.

  If all else fails, you will have checked player be an authorized Service partner.

  I'm trying to sync my videos I recorded on my Z10 for my PC using the BB link.  All my other media files have been very well and I can see no problem.  When I go to play a video link all I get is sound, no picture.  I had this problem also when I tried to 'share' a video by email it... the person only had sound.  Don't know what to do.   No, thanks for the reply, but I was actually able to solve the problem. The video is in mp4 format, which windows player couldn't play... so I downloaded the codec to be able to see the video... or I could have just played with the quick time player. Thanks anyway

  bit of a newbie on laptops but my Qosmio dvd player won't play Blu - ray movies using the "Toshiba DVD Player", although it will play normal DVD movies no problem. I use the wrong software? search through programs pre-installed, I as ' nt seem to find those related to playback of a blue-ray disc! Or the problem would be something to do with not having the correct drivers? The laptop can read BD - RE drive, and I can look at the files but when I try and play movies Blue-ray using "Toshiba DVD player" he either says "application not found" or "launcher from DVD Toshiba cannot detect Toshiba DVD Player.

• HP mediasmart dvd will not play blu - ray discs. Just asking if I want to check the updates.

  It is a new problem.  Played before blu - ray discs without any problem.  I have a HP Pavilion dv7 notebook.  Windows 7.

  I was able to solve my problem by downloading and installing the latest version of the HP Mediasmart DVD software.  I left the installer to uninstall the previous version and everything went well.  Thanks for the help.
