  • The ubiquitous Bios password bug

TOSHIBA: Stop making several models of defective laptop computer that randomly set a bios password on you. Of course, they offer to pay for a shop to do it, but we don't have time for that. Reviews of this question going back to nearly a decade. That being said, as a result of the business.

I don't want to pull the cmos battery, my other computer has no floppy drive to a disk with a hex editor key, so that came out, and I don't want to short-circuit jumpers.

They got a working laptop again? No one can say.

You are really funny to type cuban_cigar. And you are telling stories. But I want some of your stories were real and not made up from thin air.

You posted links to the son how to get rid of the BIOS password ok that nice, but it would be nice if you had read EACH case before posting something like this. In most cases, the user has lost the password!

I've got three different models of Toshiba laptops and set to update the BIOS on all laptops.
Never ever had a BIOS password problem!

I'm agree with Akuma and possibly that a single mobile model may be affected by unknown BIOS password problem.
I noticed an assignment abut M70, but it seems that the ASP took free and new update of the BIOS should help.

I also read in other forums that something like this happens also on mobile phones from OTHER manufacturers.
So in your case, I would be very careful with some things that are not known to you or not really clearly for you because you confuse others here in the forum.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite L850D - 12 p - the rider on the own BIOS password

    Hi all.

I was given a laptop by a parent and I would use it but for the moment can not.

To be honest, the reason that this has been given to me was that there is a password that they have forgotten and even mentioned that the laptop is mine, but I have to have the password removed the bios boot somehow.

I've seen many mentions of the B500 rider in Google but I can not find these on this laptop. No, unless they are hidden pretty well.

There are at least under the removable cover only, memory, CMOS battery and HARD drive.

I had the battery, HDD, RAM and portable removed and left alone for a week. This resulted in nothing.

Is - this laptop has a clear CMOS jumper at all? Anyone know what is her name?

    Laptop model is by Satellite L850D - 12 p.

    Thank you very much.

    Albert

    Hi Albert

Please don't get me wrong, but we cannot start such things on the public forum of Toshiba.
BIOS password is very important security feature. As far as I know Toshiba uses several techniques for BIOS password removal. One that is used on your computer does not for me so I can't help you with this.

Point is that many users protect machines clean and backed up data with this password. When we are discussing here on this subject and maybe offer detailed how do to remove the BIOS password each laptop stolen could be unlocked.

BIOS password removal just contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

  • Remove the rom BIOS password

HI - you can help me how to access my hp mini computer without typing the password in the rom Bios. Every time I turn it on, I type the password e9lo7gq79g. There is no way I can remove it or the display to which I would like to have the password. Thank you

    @ABCDEF1

You can remove the need for a power on password as follows.

Shut down the laptop.  Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to access the start menu, then select f10 to open the Bios menu.

Use the arrows to select the Security tab and press ENTER.  Use the arrow keys again to highlight the power on password and press ENTER.  Enter the current password ( e9lo7gq79g ) and then for the new password, just leave this field blank and click on enter - do the same for the confirmation field.  Press f10, select this option to save the new settings and press to enter.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite L40-A993 - what is the Toshiba BIOS password?

Yesterday, I left my laptop in mode 'sleep' after work. When I started today morning, he prayed for the password. I never set a password for BIOS and never changed no settings. Currently, its not booting.

Just after ignition, screen opens with "Enter password".
I tried to check online, but I got no idea. Can anyone suggest how to fix it?

    Hello Abreu

AFAIK the system settings like BIOS password cannot be addressed only and configuration of the password must be entered twice (password confirmation).
    Has anyone access your machine?

I'm afraid that someone put the password on your computer without your knowledge.

  • How can I reset the Setup/BIOS password?

Yesterday, I bought a used HP Pavilion a1640n Media Center Edition for my granddaughter. I wanted to go through the installation and make sure that everything has been updated and looked good but when I went into the Setup program it asked me password.  The kid, I bought could not remember ever put a.  It has been upgraded to Windows 7 - it works beautifully I might add - and somewhere along the way someone put a password during the installation.

How can I go on the erasure of the values as the BIOS password?

    Thanks in advance,

    Howard Woodard

    Hello

To clear the Infromation in BIOS follow the steps below

    1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord.
    2. Locate the jumper marked CLEAR_PWD. (Normal) position, the rider is default on pins 2 and 3.

    1. Move the jumper on the CLEAR_PWD jumper to pins 1-2 to erase the password.

    1. Plug the power cord and turn on the computer.
    2. Hold down the F1 key during the boot process and enter the BIOS to change or clear the password.
    3. After changing or clear BIOS passwords, consider the jumper to reset the pins 2 and 3.

  • The intermittent bios password problems

I have a HP Pavilion DV9000 Notebook/entertainment (GL885UA #ABL) and intermittently rejects the startup password. There is a USB keyboard and a mouse attached separately. The BIOS is displayed as HP F.3D, 22/11/2007. Processor is AMD Turion 64 X 2.

It is immaterial that the password is typed on the computer keyboard, or USB keyboard, it gets rejected most of the time and goes to the 'locked system' then I have to turn power off, then try again. Usually, it accepts the password on the second or third try.

It doesn't show other symptoms of low battery of the BIOS, such that waste the time and date and forget about the hard drive or other hardware.

    Thanks for any help

What you describe is a map of the system to his last breath.

I have a HP mini 1000, which did the same thing for me, two days after an attempted installed Kali Linux. My mini is also about six or seven years. He asks a BIOS admin password. He never had a password for BIOS installed! It is now a brick.

  • Portege M400 - BIOS password of change within the OS without knowing password?

    Hi all

I hope I can get help / advice from someone with more experience with the M400 if possible?

I reinstalled the operating system and the configuration of the biometric security for me, which worked perfectly! However foolishly I also configure startup security (password of BIOS). So when the Tablet is on I can scan my finger and participate without any problem, but now I want to disable the start security. So I booted into the operating system and went to turn it off... but it asks for my password... I forgot that I was a typical end user and have only used my bloody finger!

Anyone know if I can disable BIOS security while in the operating system using security biomentric rather than enter a password? I tried simply by changing the password of admin in the victory of the BONES, but it does not... any ideas?

    Any help greatly appreciated!

    See you soon

You intervene on password of BIOS that you set in the BIOS?
AFAIK you cannot remove the BIOS password if you know n t the old BIOS password.
In this case that only the Toshiba ASP could help you just the ASP from Toshiba technician could remove unknown BIOS password

  • Satellite M70 - how to remove the BIOS password?

    Hello

last November my boyfriend Satellite M70 laptop locked up shortly after recieveing a toshiba mail asking if he would renew his warranty. Unfortunately it didn't renew it, then the computer becomes usless.

We got the screen and it works again all he needed was a few costs but it asks the BIOS password that was never given to hmio that his cell phone was a model ex-affichage.
If someone could help, I would be very great ful because we need this laptop for everyday life.

    > last November my boyfriend Satellite M70 laptop locked shortly after receiving an e-mail from toshiba asking if he would renew his warranty. Unfortunately he renew it n t and the computer become so useless
It's really amazing that the laptop began to malfunction after receiving this email from Toshiba. It its a little scary s
but I think that it is simply "bad luck"...

However, the point is that the BIOS password can not be removed this can be done by ASP (certified partner).
In my opinion, you should contact the guy to get the deleted BIOS password.

  • Satellite L40-19 - need directions to the game of password BIOS, editing, deleting

    Dear forum,

On-line and paper manual for my Satelite L40 - Toshiba 19 c mention the possibility to use passwords of the BIOS Setup, but retains how set, change, or remove. (BIOS FRIEND... CRESTLINE - TOS...) On its website, society seems to stifle as well on this issue.
L40 - 19 c. utility "Toshiba Assist" does not offer a Posibility to work on BIOS.

I tried to put the password by intuition, and it worked. Weeks later, I tried to remove it: I entered the old password and left the field for the new blank password. This is the procedure to remove a password from the BIOS Setup.
The next time you start upward, however, the BIOS asked a password. No password worked: the old one not just ENTER - nothing.

Thus, obscuring a vital function of a product, my laptop unusable Toshiba. If I had not been able to remove the contents of the CMOS BIOS (Yes, it is possible without paid service), I can have condemned legally responsible society.
There are explicit laws on insufficient documentation in Germany.

I like to use the password of the BIOS for obvious reasons of security and certainly like to Toshiba to spare embarrassment to return my money for the clumsy documentation.

I greatly prefer to receive correct, complete and understandable documentation by Toshiba on how to use all functions of the product, including all functions of BIOS setup password. And of course I like to see - for the benefit of all users of this forum L40 - source download for the manual posted here. Moreover, a responsible statement would do, which is a Toshiba official statement published in this forum.

    Thank you much in advance.
    ContributorJW

    Hey Buddy

First of all I wonder about your statements you last post sounds a bit more aggressive and I don t know what you mean by professional Seraphim. To my knowledge that you will be served in this forum only common Toshiba laptop users who are trying to help other users of Toshiba laptops
    In any case

    > The point is rather on how to modify and delete a password by the legitimate function of BIOS configuration password.

The BIOS password (if it s known to you) can be removed easily
Access the BIOS using the BIOS password then you have to put the old BIOS password, overwrite it with entry empty (pressing enter) then you need to confirm this second time pressing enter) and then you save the changes you made
This is the procedure more simple that is known to me

If this does not work, then you put a bad BIOS (maybe typo) or there is something wrong with the BIOS feature.
In this case ONLY the ASP can help you

    I hope I could help a little...
