  I'm tring to back up all my files, but only my recovery files are back up. When I click Change backup settings, I noticed two hard drives listed. The main hard drive and the hard drive recovery. The hard drive recovery is the only one that I can select and deselect. The main hard drive is already enabled and cannot be deselected, yet when I save files and the custom of primary hard drive then upward. Is it possible I can open the hard drive so that I can save? On the way back up there is a message that says that Shadow backup is in progress.   You can try to format external driver and check if it helps. Inorder to do this seam the steps:

  Sign in as an administrator or as a member of the Administrators group.

  a. Click Start and then click Control Panel.

  b. click on performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools and then double-click computer management. In the console tree, click Disk Management.

  NOTE: You can also click Start, point to run, type diskmgmt.msc, and then click OK.

  c. in disk management, click on the external drive you want to format (or reformat), and then click on format.

  Independent of how this feature works, you want to have your photos in one place and have a backup (second copy) somewhere else. All hard drives will not be successful at some point - some more early, some late - never trust to have your files in any safety devices if they are on a single disc. Once you have your sorted, it would be useful that you will organize/name/tag new photos immediately if the task is relatively short and simple. I copy my photos on my internal hard drive for my camera, take a quick look with preview to see who needs some changes and then decide where to put them - either drop them immediately after naming them or bring in an editing application and then file them away.

  Yes, what you are proposing is quite feasible. You will need an adapter Ultabay to organize your HARD drive in the Ultrabay housing on your system. These are available from Lenovo, but are relatively expensive. You can get a much less expensive (~ $ 10) a compatible version on eBay. It is not as well finished as the real issue, but it works well.

  The best way to transfer everything on your SSD is "clone" of your HARD disk using a software as Acronis True Image. If your current HARD drive is made by Western Digital or Seagate you can get a free copy of Acronis on their Web site. Put the SSD in the SATA drive Bay and the HARD disk in the UtlraBay. Set the T520 to start from the Ultrabay, install/run Acronis here and make a clone for the SSD. Then boot from the SSD and you'll be all set.

  With respect to the SSD, many people here have had good success with Crucial M4, 520 Intel and Samsung 830. I guess that Corsair works perfectly as well, but I didn't know all messages from people here who have done so.

  Before ordering a SSD confirm if the HARD drive is 7 mm or 9.5 mm thick. Then order the same thickness SSD. This way, you will be able to use the metal rails caddy and rubber who now hold your HARD drive to contain the SSD.

  Enter your menu of the BIOS by pressing F2 at startup. Check the following settings:

  Primary hard drive 0 displays the primary hard drive 0. The default value is Auto.

  Main main Hard Drive 1 shows hard

  Make sure that primary 0 is set to AUTO.

• I can't initialize the disk for my new external hard drive

  I can't initialize the disk for my new external hard drive because the drop-down list in the Disk Management Console does not give me this option. I'm logged in as an administrator and running Windows XP.  The driver for the new hardware is not digitally signed because I can't initialize the disk.  So I can't get my new hardware to run.  Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the option "Initialize disk" in the Disk Management Console?

  Can you simply right-click and format everything first?  The drive must be formatted before use, make sure that you format NTFS.

  I have a HP Pavilion M9361 3 years old uk spec, the second hard drive failed the other day which was a Hitachi 500 GB, 3 GB / s, as he says failure of hard drive soon!

  So I got from Amazon Uk has D Hitachi 1 TB 6 GB per second HARD drive and I connected on the old location, restarted windows vista 64 bit and it just gets in the first blue HP screen and crashes.

  I'm doing something wrong?

  If the PC starts again without the new installed hard drive then the PC was non-RAID 0 and RAID 1 mode.

  It is possible that the Intel RAID controller trying to format and synchronize drives. This could take a while. You should see some messages. You see?

  If not, try the following.

  You may need to drop the RAID parring in the Intel RAID Utility. Don't forget that your data and your hard drive is backed up. You should see instructions when you start on how to access the Intel RAID Utility.  Usually the keys Ctrl + I keys will allow you to access the utility. That, without the new installed hard drive.

  Once you remove the parring RAID then you should be able to boot your PC.  If it works, then go ahead and install the new hard drive and see if the PC boots. If the PC does not until now with the new HD then attached the new HD is dead.

Format exFAT to allocation by default 931,51 GB free, 1 MB used to put in shape. I chose NTFS format to reduce the fragmentation of the file.

  This is a technical director of the machine so very little information we can find. He uses this means you can use any standard SATA HDD SATA. If you want to buy the original size and the brand, you can order from HP, or any computer store.

  My suggestion: a WD SATA II 750 GB at 7200 RPM should work fine.

  There are many ways to format the hard drive. You did not really provide details...

  You can download the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) and burn it to a CD, then you can boot from the CD and use the tools of HARD drive to remove the partitions/erase the hard drive.
