  I don't know why it should not work on your machine, but you can reset your password like this:
  1. click on start.
  2. type the three letters cmd in the search box.
  3. press on Ctrl + Shift + Enter
  4. click on "run as Administrator".
  5. type the following command:
  NET user "user %%nom" xxyyzz {Enter}
  (Replace the password you want to use xxyyzz)

  I found the solution to your problem.

  The problem is that Illustrator CS6 and CC is using the same name 'Illustrator' so when you go for example CC folder and choose windows illustrator.exe already sees Illustrator was added and just jump back to the same screen.

  If you look in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 \Support Files\Contents\Windows (64-bit), you will see the name of the file (illustrator.exe)

  If you look in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC (64 Bit) \Support Files\Contents\Windows you will see the name of the file (illustrator.exe)

  If you change the file illustrator.exe for CS6 or CC for example IllustratorCC.exe for the record CC

  Change the names of these for example

  If you look in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CS6 \Support Files\Contents\Windows (64-bit), you will see the name of the file (illustratorCS6.exe)

  If you look in the folder C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC (64 Bit) \Support Files\Contents\Windows you will see the name of the file (illustratorCC.exe)

  Then, you will be able to add them to the list of associated files.

  You can do this for all applications from Photoshop, first, AE, etc, are all the same

  I recently formatted my computer (make a complete system a wipe, not just a settings) and now Firefox is not behaving. If I change my Firefox homepage at a different home page (IE Google) it will record it until I have shut down all the windows in my Firefox, then it returns to the default home page.   You are in the right place, this is the support forum.

  You should not make the profile read-only, which will cause problems, for example, you will not be able to change the settings or add bookmarks.

  Before you make any more try to make a copy of the current profile including subfolders and files and all previous profile available.
