Heterogeneous Connectivity environment layout

Hai everybody,

I am very new to "ORACLE heterogeneous connectivity"...
and this is my senario... I need to connect to oracle with microsoft access (and update of 5 tables more regularly)...
so...

What are the pre-reqsites needed to make this connectivity...
What are the drivers/softwarz, supposed to install to achieve my goal...

Datebase:11 g 1
OS: wisdows XP

and if you can, please give me a better link, from a beginner / give me a brief description...

Kind regards
JP@valapad

Hi JP,
I'm glad it's working now.
To answer your questions-

1. access the column names are case sensitive must delimit them by double quotes in a select statement to access in this case, otherwise they are converted to upper case.
So try to select it as -

Select 'name' of dep_mst@db_link;

2. can I update oracle ms access tables?
Yes, DG4ODBC supports updated statements, so it should work for access also. The only restriction is that DG4ODBC cannot be used in distributed transactions, is that you can not update Oracle and Access in the same statement. There must be a validation between the 2 updates.
You can not use the gateway to update access Oracle.

3 can you in brief/link on hs agents ("PROGRAM = " @listener.ora file (sucha as dg4odbc) "")
Different gateways have a different name for the agent of hs created for the gateway. For example, Database Gateway for SQL * Server uses (program = dg4msql) and DG4Sybase uses (program = dg4sybs).
Hs agent is the software that manages the communication between the Oracle database and non-Oracle database.
HS heterogeneous services which is the RDBMS software layer that manages communications outside the database.

Kind regards
Mike

    Hi comrades.

    I need to connect to a Mysql database in Oracle 10 G line (link), I read an article about the heterogeneous connectivity to other Oracle with ODBC or DNS databases. Someone is making this functionality in Oracle? Is another choice to connect to any other relational databases Oracle 10 G - has... If someone has information to connect to the database Mysql wil be great!

    Thank you very much.!!!

    Emmanuel.

    If you want to use heterogeneous Services, you will need to either buy a transparent bridge or use the generic connectivity, which is part of the database. Generic connectivity using ODBC or OLE DB to connect to the remote database. What approach you try to implement?

    It is not obvious to me that your comment about the DNS service is referring. You can obviously use a different mechanism to translate host for IP addresses or IP addresses of just hardcode names although it is usually not the desired architecture.

  • Heterogeneous connection between Oracle and Postgres.

    Hi all

    I am trying to connect heterogeneous Postgres and Oracle for a few days, but I've always seen this error: "loss of the RPC connection.

    First of all: I use Windows 7, Oracle 10 g and PostgreSQL 8.4.

    I did the following:

    (1) create a system DNS named "PG". (The connection test is OK)

    (2) to create the file 'initPG.ora' in ' $ORACLE_HOME/hs/admin:
    # This is an example of initialization file of the agent that contains the HS settings
    # needed for an ODBC Agent.

    #
    # HS init parameters
    #
    HS_FDS_CONNECT_INFO = PG
    HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = WE

    #
    # Required for the non-Oracle system environment variables
    #
    #set < varenv > = < value >

    (3) configure the file 'listener.ora' (in ' $ORACLE_HOME/NETWORK/ADMIN "):
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
    (SID_LIST =
    (SID_DESC =
    (SID_NAME = PLSExtProc)

    (ORACLE_HOME = C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server)
    (PROGRAM = hsodbc)
    )
    )

    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = Cédric-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    )
    )

    DEFAULT_SERVICE_LISTENER = (XE)

    (4) set up the 'tnsnames.ora' file (in ' $ORACLE_HOME/NETWORK/ADMIN "):
    XE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = Cédric-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
    )
    )

    (SERVICE_NAME = PG)
    (HS = OK)
    )
    )

    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = PLSExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
    )

    ORACLR_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = CIP)(KEY = EXTPROC_FOR_XE))
    )
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SID = CLRExtProc)
    (PRESENTATION = RO)
    )
    )

    (5) Finally, I create my DB-Link and test it:
    CREATE DATABASE LINK 'CENTRALE_POSTGRES' CONNECT TO 'user_login' IDENTIFIED BY 'user_password' USING "PG";

    SELECT * FROM 'dual"@CENTRALE_POSTGRES;

    I got this error:
    ORA-03135: interruption of the RPC connection.

    As you can see, I have activated the trace level (HS_FDS_TRACE_LEVEL = WE), but the still empty directory ' $ORACLE_HOME/NETWORK/trace.

    Any ideas?

    Concerning

    the alias PG tnsnames.ora is wrong — you must have 2 closing brackets after the so that HS SERVICE_NAME = OK is outside the CONNECT_DATA as:

    PG =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = tcp) (HOST = Cédric-PC)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = PG))
    (HS = OK)
    )

    You should know also HSODBC to release 10.2 was desupported since March 2008 and it was replaced by its product follow-up DG4ODBC V11

  • MainStage - loss of connectivity environment performance

    Hi guys,.

    I seem to lose connectivity between my midi controller (m-audio code 61) and Mainstage environment performance. I lost sound and the warning message on the Mainstage saying that the midi controller is no longer available. Currently, I connect via the USB port, which also fuels the midi controller. I have to disconnect and reconnect the USB cable on the midi controller or laptop and then it seems to work again. Any ideas on how to solve this problem?

    Try another USB cable. A premium quality cable may be the solution. The connectors tend to have a tighter fit. Another alternative is to use a power supply and a USB MIDI cable, or connect via a cable to your audio interface MIDI, if it has a MIDI.

I know that I need to copy the content to the empty pages, but empty pages are not even created for... which, in turn, means me that page attributes and metadata must be copied layout available. Someone know how I can connect my layouts of Tablet and phone my office layout? Thank you.

    Hello

    If the sign is not there, it means the provision is already created, if you can not see empty pages when you go to a special provision, you can right click and delete the page layout. The sign will come back and you can add the layout again.

  • Can VMware View - I connect with Microsoft RDP?

    Hello world

    Can I connect via the Microsoft's RDP client Vmware View environment? No view, just Microsoft RDP client. I have a thin client model and just support Microsoft RDP Protocol. I want to connect environment seen through this customer.

    Thank you.

    Grosbois

    You MUST have a client of VMware view. Then you can connect through it to view desktop using PCoIP or RDP Protocol.

    You will be able to connect to the desktop using RDP display if your thin client is located in the same subnet (and if RDP is enabled on the desktop to view server and you know its ip address) but would not use vmware view (if you want to connect directly to your desktop from RDP Why would you need to notice), which would also directly access to a machine as you access all the other Windows VM.

    And its always advisable to disable direct RDP on view desktops.

  • Server unavailable in the middle of a Connect conference

    I was running a virtual classroom by using Adobe Acrobat Connect Pro and detached from the video (but not the appeal of MeetingOne) in the middle of the two hour during an application sharing session. All connection attempts have encountered an error that no server is available for the meeting. It lasted long enough that I had to be rolled up a GoToMeeting session.

    The outage page indicates no problem and I can not for the life of me find out who to call to get an analysis of the root causes began. Support of Adobe Connect is just an infinite loop:

    1. Adobe Connect support (http://helpx.adobe.com/adobe-connect/connect-support.html)
    2. Select a topic from this list...
      • Issues in meeting
        • Report an outage
    3. Read how Acrobat Connect Pro had none of the failures
    4. Click on one of the links please contact us (http://helpx.adobe.com/ca/contact.html)
    5. Choose a product...

    I see an incident (case #2014100701) that has been reported and resolved this morning on the hosted environment. You need to scroll to the bottom of the status of the connection environment page. http://status.Adobe.com/

    As the person to contact, you can call Adobe support at 800-422-3623 or 800-945-9120. In the page connect Support, after that you click on the questions in a meeting (or what ever you chose option) there is a button "I still need help...". "where you can start a live chat with a Support agent or you can get the list of support phone numbers.

    There is a problem during display of character with sqlplus and even worse on TOAD, SQL Developer tool.

    There is a heterogeneous connection between 11g and ms sql serever. I use freedts, unixodbc and dg4odbc to connect.
    using tool isql... the select statement has been well formatted... See example |

    | Charge accrued on debt Resprise
    BUT when I use sqlplus some characters are broken... Please see sample

  • Can I download PowerPoint directly in to connect without using Adobe Presenter?

    I have a PowerPoint (.ppt and .pptx) file and the slides are quite simple - mainly the chip including a list of fonts, Calibri or Arial (Nothing wild and crazy).  When I download the content directly in the connection environment, the formatting of the slides (in the sharing module) is just wacky.  Instead of the slides to fit the module sharing of sizing, the bullets go down beyond the bottom of the pod and cannot be read.

    I was told that the only solution is to buy Adobe Presenter and publish my PowerPoint files (with host) in Acrobat Connect Pro.  This is not an option for me in my business.  It seems that download a simple PowerPoint presentation should be basic function of Connect without having to download/purchase licenses presenter.  Maybe I'm wrong.  Here are some pictures in case it does not make sense.  If anyone has any advice, please let me know.  I cannot use possibly connect to virutal training if slides look like they are doing so under.  Thank you!

    The first image is the PowerPoint slide

    PowerPoint slide.jpg

    Here's what it looks like in the share Pod:

    Mr. market,

    I'll make sure that everything is in Ariel. I had to change the fonts before in a case like this. Calibri is not a supported font.

  • Conversion of character on heterogeneous queries?

    Hello

    We have a database of Oracle 11 g (11.1.0.7.0) running on a Windows 2003 SP1 server. Heterogeneous connectivity has been implemented in a database (2002) MS SQL Server. While the link itself works properly, with queries returning expected results, we are however facing a problem with character set conversion. For example, the French character e (e-acute) is not translated correctly and results in an "ORA-29275: partial multibyte character sets", when queries are made against the line of the table containing this character.

    The SQL Server database uses the ISO8859-1 character set, and our database uses AL32UTF8.

    In the configuration for the heterogeneous link initSID.ora file, we set the character set (used by SQL Server) as follows:

    HS_LANGUAGE = AMERICAN_AMERICA. WE8ISO8859P1

    However this did not result in character set translation underway.

    We have also tried to set the "Perform translation for character data" option in the MS. ODBC driver This gave not the result you want either.

    What I want to know is:

    (1) how to set up a heterogeneous link correctly to perform the character set translation?

    (2) if (1) above is not possible, what alternatives are there to achieve?

    Thank you
    William Walker

    In general, the conversation should work. You must make sure no conversation of characters is enabled in the ODBC driver and WE8 characters even no HS_LANGUAGE must be set in the gateway configuration file.

    Most commonly the corrupted output is happening, because the application that can display the characters is not conform to unicode. So digging into your question, I would say:

    1 using SQl Developer as a client - SQL Developer is unicode compatible and available for free on: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/sql-developer/downloads/index.html
    2. When you select now in your table, the characters now appear correctly?

    If this isn't the case, please continue:
    3. now, create a demo table in your SQL Server (if possible):
    create table french_char (col1, col2 varchar integer (20));
    and insert a recording of the demo:
    insert into french_char values (1, 'eec')
    4. use developer SQL and the gateway to select in this demo table:
    Select "col1", "col2", dump("col2",16) "french_char" @;
    and the output.

    Also, check the key to register ORACLE belonging to the ORACLE_HOME containing DG4ODBC installation and provide me with the NLS_LANG parameter.

  • How to remove DB connection username of tablename prefix? (Error ora-04052)

    Hi all

    I managed to establish a heterogeneous connectivity between ORACLE 10 g 2 and Sybase ASE 15.0.2 using generic HSODBC. I defined a database link called using CSSTAT:

    create database CSSTAT link to connect to 'fw' identified by ' * ' using 'CSSTAT ';

    Using SQLPLUS, now I can query all the tables in the schema "dbo" using qualified table names such as "csstat.dbo.table_name":

    Select *.
    of 'csstat.dbo.table_name '. CSSTAT;

    Now, the problem occurs when I have to run this query from a PL/SQL block. When I try to compile this code, Oracle throws an error "ORA-04052' complain that it cannot find the fw.csstat.dbo.table_name object.

    The problem is pl/sql compiler is prefacing the table name qualified with DB link username "fw". Is there a way to tell Oracle not to do?

    Funny, it is SQLPLUS this query works well, but only to PL/SQL makes it throw an error. How can I go about fixing this?

    If you call from the same foreign user account tables, you can use the HS_FDS_DEFAULT_OWNER parameter to precede the actual owner of the object.

    HSODBC was desupported by March 15, 2008; so, you should use Dg4ODBC V11. This product requires a driver compatible oDBC level 3 of 64 bits on 64-bit Solaris.
    An implementation of instructions can be found on Metalink:
    Note.561033.1 Ext/Pub how-to Setup DG4ODBC on 64 bit OS Unix (Linux, Solaris, AIX, HP - UX)

  • Connection from Oracle to Sql Server (64-bit on Windows 2003)

    Hello

    I want to install heterogeneous connectivity between our Oracle 10 g version 10.0.2.0.1 (on 64-bit Windows 2003) to a SQL Server on another computer on the network. I found that HSODBC is removed, and that this is is not supported on 64-bit Windows systems. So, I couldn't make it work obviously.

    It is even possible to set up a heterogeneous connectivity in our situation (using DG4ODBC or something?)
    If so, could someone point me in the right direction on where to start?

    Thank you!

    (I'm not a dba, previous attempt using hsodbc cost me two weeks before finding out that it doesn't even work...)

    Edit:
    Oh, and it is possible to display the Metalink notes as (Metalink Note: 361676.1, is generic connectivity available on The LINUX or Windows 64 - bit Platforms?) without a support contract? Or only customers with a support contract have the right to know that some features are not available?

    According to your last update, your actions are:
    1.) upgrade Oracle on SERVER1 to 10.2.0.4.0-online Yes
    2.) DG4ODBC is not certified to run on SERVER1, then I should install on SERVER2 tell you? That there is no installed Oracle... ?
    Yes, install it on the server of SQL Server 32-bit.

    The gateway comes with a complete Oracle SQL * Net listener. Just so install the 32-bit to SQL Server and configure the Oracle listener as well as the bridge and the ODBC driver.
    Now on the Oracle database server adds a TNSNAMES file. Entry of ORA that points the listener to the Oracle of the gateway on the SQL Server computer. The link of database within the 10 g, which oracle databased then connects using tnsnames.ora alias in the SQL Server computer that has an active Oracle listener that generates connection DG4ODBC. DG4ODBC executable load DG4ODBC configuration file and connects to SQL Server you have configured.

    The Oracle gateway are very flexible. You don't need to install them on the Oracle database machine. They can be installed independently; even on a 3rd machine if you do not want to touch the SQL Server computer. In this case, the scenario is similar as described above; only difference now is the driver ODBC to connect to a SQL Server computer on a remote host.

  • IOM database Applications Table is unable to connect through GTC - Weblogic, Linux

    IOM - 9100 (public download)
    Red Hat Linux
    XLADM Oracle 10g

    I installed the connector database applications and am trying to set it up via the generic technology connector, but it keeps failing to connect. I know that these settings are correct and validated via sqlplus------SQLDeveloper. It is also the database same exact (no SID) that hosts XLADM as well, so I know he can find the machine and others. I had another previous IOM on JBoss install locally on my Windows workstation that worked well too. I can see in the paper that the DBProvisioningTransportProvider becomes the fine accessories and then explodes trying to connect. I tried even update the drivers of ojdb14.jar in XELLERATE_HOME/ext and it doesn't matter. I'm sure it's something simple, connected environment or a bug. Any help is appreciated.
