• Hard drive replacement need, what model?

  My computer failed recently, and I ended up spending at the Geek squad from best buy. (I know I know, but it's free). They determined that my hard drive was not and that he would need to be replaced. However, they said that the drive was a PATA and SATA drive not and would therefore be more difficult to find a replacement for. They recommended that I simply buy a new computer.

  My question is: a SATA or SATA II disk will be compatible with this computer? Everything I read on the T61P is they used SATA hard drives. If so, is there a way I can find what hard disks will be compatible with my computer?

  The computer in question is a T61p bought in December 2007. The drive hard factory it came factory was the 100 GB 7200 RPM one.

  I should also mention that the CD/DVD drive didn't so that it will be difficult to use a recovery disc. I have a USB external CD drive, but don't know if it will be operational without the drivers installed.

  It should work fine. Go into the BIOS to confirm that it is in the boot sequence. Install the replacement HD in the T61p and the recovery boot CD in the CD drive. Start the T61p and follow the instructions.

  Of course that gets you right to where you were when the T61p was brand new. Then, you have to update Windows and Lenovo software, reinstall applications, restore data from backups, etc.

  That should do it, but I suggest you buy the adapter plug to the Mexico airport. IPhone chargers are universal voltage.

  Box code is 7.0.222.0 but when I go to the support site I see 7.2, 7.3 and 7.4 with relatively recent dates.

  Your desktop PC old venerable uses don't suport not the SATA interface and IDE hard disks. He certainly gave you several (10) years of great service.

  SSDS use the SATA interface.

  There is none of the hard drives SSD IDE on the market.

  This is why it was suggested at the forum that you referenced to turn off the old office in the pasture.
