High utilization of the processor with WMPlayer on Satellite L550

Dear Toshiba customer,

I have a problem with my Toshiba Satellite L550 - 13 k. (Windows 7)

When I use windows Media Player my becomes cpu very high (90-100%) and my laptop is almost cold.
The only way to fix is to close the mediaplayer via the Task Manager.

I try to check all the options in the menu of mediaplayer, but I can't find any problem.
(I found something on windows mediaplayer networksharing via taskmanger--> services. I stopted the service but the problem persists.)

Then, when Im not using the cpu mediaplay is close to 50%.

Can someone help me pls?

Hi davygusto,

see the running services...
There may be a service that runs in the background, causing the high cpu load when mediaplaying (such as streaming)...
disconnect from the network and play music - if the load is normal * this is * one such service.
Maybe your antivirus software checks the traffic and causing more load also.

Make sure that no other program is running during the test (internet radio, desktop application etc.)

I think your 'Disinfection' software runs wild...

  • MacBook Pro random high utilization of the processor (iCoreService/DCAManager using + 400% CPU?)

    Hello

I'm running an Early 2011 Macbook Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 with a 2.2 GHZ Quad Core i7 processor 1 TB Samsung 840 EVO SSD and 16 GB of RAM Crucial. I noticed for about a month, I'm going to do a simple task or two on my Mac, then all of a sudden I noticed spikes CPU temporary, 90 + degrees C and the kick of fans trying to cool high speed. Well, I don't know why this is happening when I do nothing to justify a high utilization of the processor. I'm used to the CPU running hot when I do something intensive graphic as running Autodesk Inventor CAD software, run a machine virtual or even watch a 1080 p @ 60 fps video on youtube (it is the lowest resolution that requires the Mac switch to the dedicated AMD Radeon 6750 M GPU that usually eventually warm it quickly) , but this use high random that happens when I have Mail open in the background, and one tab open with a 720 p @ 30 fps video Youtube open (or even less). I took a few screenshots of the activity Manager indicating the best processes and Intel Power Gadget indicating the temperature of the CPU:

Does anyone know what are iCoreService and/or DCAManager and why they use so much of my CPU when this happens? And someone has encountered this weird behavior before? Thanks in advance!

The most likely cause is an applicztion you have running that is corrupt and forcing them to use the CPU too. Were you able to kill the process in activity monitor? If you have not yet tried to do, so I'll try that first. I would also try to quit all open applications.

If you start the computer in Safe Mode , you can test if the problem is still there. If it isn't, usually means something that is managed by you start-up or an application that you use may be the cause.

  • Leaks memory satellite L655 - 14 d, high utilization of the processor after Win 10 updated

    Hello world

    recently, I updated my Toshiba L655 - 14 d running on win7 Home premium 64-bit to win 10.

After that update system is memory leaks, high utilization of the processor and get stuck every 5 to 10 seconds, is a rhythmic problem happens while Starter upward.

If music is played nothing breaks and distortion, while using word or another office associated SW it became marked delay in the characters that appear on the screen, using the internet or live streaming is also not smooth.

Any suggestions to solve these problems?

It is advisable to change the RAM and upgrade to the new HARD drive (current RAM is 3GB 1066 MHz and is disc HARD 500 GB, ATI Radeon graphics card), if the change has advised if I want on the RAM even or I can go for a more of the same for the HARD drive also.

    Thanks in advance.

You may need to check if the problem could be related to some drivers installed (maybe GPU driver would need an update) or 3rd party software.
Background running processes in the context of the system could block the CPU, and this could slow down the performance of the system...
So a quick glance in the task manager can be useful.

Of course, upgrade of RAM can be useful too... If you run Win 64 bit system, upgrade of RAM is recommended.
The 32-bit OS can handle only 3.2 GB RAM... so in this case the RAM upgrade would be useless.

With regard to upgrading the HARD drive:
The SATA controller is able to manage any size of HARD drive, but to be honest, this will not increase the performance of the laptop... But change from HDD to SSD drive would increase the performance of the system... so I recommend you replace the HARD drive with SSD drive.

I know Norton has sent me a few messages on dumprep.exe high utilization of the processor, but this isn't the only time where she do this and it is causing my computer runs slowly, and a few times the last 2 days that makes my strongest computer. I hope someone can help because I don't know anything about all this

    Hi SandieLaster,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. When was the last time it was working fine?
    3. When the high CPU usage occurs?

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See section to learn more about how to clean boot.

While we are aware of the problem, there is little we can do about it.  The modern realities of security of the web browsers have made sandbox, a necessity.

There is a good explanation of what is happening here: http://blogs.adobe.com/asset/2012/06/inside-flash-player-protected-mode-for-firefox.html

Long story short, every video packet must be transmitted from the browser to a medium integrity process broker, then the integrity process low drive flash for rendering.  If an attacker is able to hijack the thread of Flash Player, the process is low integrity, which prevents the attacker to do a lot with it.  While it is not an absolute guarantee (nothing security is), it raises the bar significantly for the attackers.

The downside is that all this additional message passing consumes cycles CPU, especially if you are trying to fill a buffer of exceptional size as soon as possible.  There's not a lot of opportunity to optimize this.

If you're fine with the risk, you can manually disable ProtectedMode on your machine.  If you deal only with trusted sites, and you do not have anything critical with the machine (work, banking, etc.), then it is probably not a huge deal.

Finally, ProtectedMode is like a vaccine - it's one thing to immunity.  If the majority of people run it, exploits targeting machines without that it does not conform and probably not merit to be pursued when you look at the effort involved in the development of a feat of end-to-end.  If a large number of people turn it off, it becomes economically attractive for builders of networks of zombie computers, and you will have problems if you do not use.

To disable the Protected Mode, add the following line to your mms.cfg file located in:

    32-bit Windows: C:\windows\system32\macromed\flash

    64-bit Windows: C:\windows\syswow64\macromed\flash

    ProtectedMode=0

If the mms.cfg file does not exist, create one to any text editor standard (p. ex. Notepad)

Depending on your operating system, you must first save the mms.cfg file in a directory writable (for example, your document or desktop folder), and then copy the file into the folder using Windows Explorer.

To re - enable Protected Mode, simply delete the line in the mms.cfg file.

  • high utilization of the processor in standby mode / x 230

    Hi all

I have an i5 x 230, win8 installed pro on an ssd crucial msata m4, 16 GB of ram. Recently, I noticed a sharp decline in the life of the battery. I believe that this is due to the high utilization of the processor when idle, I see it in the Manager of tasks and shows the process system hovering over 30% cpu usage. It goes down when I restart, but just on the rise after some time, perhaps on his return from his sleep.

Does anyone have any idea on this? I tried to get a little knowledge base, but nothing came.

  • THE TASKHOST. EXE, high utilization of the processor - Satellite Z30 / Win 8.1 64 bit

    Hello

I'm looking for a way to * find the battery life... *.

For some time, the * TASKHOST. EXE *, "host process for Win tasks" (pl.: "trial dla zada hosta?) systemu Windows") * runs all the time, consumes about 30% of the CPU. It works even without any program began.

    Results:
    (1) * autonomy is much shorter *, about 5 hours from 10 hours earlier.
    (2) * the cooler fan is on a higher speed all the time * (previously - only occasionally switch on).
    (3) * around CPU is hot all the time * (see: cooler fan)-previously it used to heat only during "heavy" tasks (e.g. image processing).

After a few tips, I turned off CARS in the Task Scheduler - no changes whatsoever.

I would be grateful for guidance on how to make "taskhost.exe" more energy efficient.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

THE TASKHOST. EXE is a Microsoft Windows systems internal generic host process and has nothing to do with the laptop or computer manufacturer.

    Hello maggievandevanter,

Resolved by reinstalling and uninstalling SoundTap recorder without having to reboot the PC, then cleaning the registry of all that was left after uninstalling.

The program is not completely compatible with WinVista and replaces the audio driver with his own. This causes high CPU usage when it comes to audio.
So, anyone with Windows Vista, do NOT use this software. It will be you live above.
  • PLS HELP blackBerry smartphones! High utilization of the processor to 100% (v6.0 Bundle 3049) because of the net.rim.io.impl module

(my 3rd attempt to get support on this critical issue)

    .

    Hello

    .

I have improved my Torch (9800) a week ago and have been noticiing serious battery drain issues.  The problem is VERY persistentand happens most of the time.  I am currently on OS v6.0 bundle 3049 (v6.0.0.706, Devils, 6.6.0.246).  My Wifi and Bluetooth are always TURNED off.  Only by using the Bell service provider network, for which I have all 5 bars available.

    .

I investigated further and found that the Blackberry system software was running with more than the processor - especially in the high 90s.  And this corresponded over the hours until the battery was dead.  I have since deleted all the apps I have suspecpected - such as the Office of Nice and LinkedIn.  But the problem persists.

    .

I also close all antennas - mobile network incl., and there is no change after 15-20 minutes.

    .

Battery pull was made several times, as I checked and there are no new updates of OS.

    .

Now, currently, only the Basic apps are loaded (Alt-Back): home, BBM, phone, Messages, Borwser.  All other applications are closed or exit.  The only antenna work is for the Bell network.

    .

Further study in the modules of the system software of BB, I found that the net_rim_io_impl, is her consuming ALL the CPU.  I don't know where/what this module does - so I'm not clear on this service within the BB I can disable (OFF) to get rid of the issue.  Or soft. I can remove it to clear the issue.

    .

Please see the following screenshots, the CPU for the system a little, drops as Options use a part, otherwise it goes back 90 years, if left alone: -.

And in the system software of BB: -.

    .

Please help and guide, with either a fix to the module, or via a workaround solution, in which some service can be stopped or a setting can be changed to avoid this battery drain.  This is my 3rd attempt to request for help - so far that anything is coming - not even an acknowledgment that there is a problem, or how I can get help.  I'm still in the warranty period of 12 months.

    .

    Thank you!

I reload the OS at this point and not restore data after, it comes to prove that the device is ok.

You could make a backup and try to wipe it too if ok start selective points files until you find out what is the cause.

  • High utilization of the processor in Mode VSS when traffic through the internet.

    Hi all

I have a problem with the installation of VSS. The VSS service install act as a central office switch of transit for internet traffic and the problem arises when there are about 600 Mbps of traffic through the switch. We notice that there are a lot of packages being softswitch and the rate is quite high, almost like 100 to 200 k per second.

The VSS switch manages ospf and BGP and have plenty of internet routing. After investigation of high CPU usage, I noticed that the AAGR switch is full and has tried to set the course of max mls to the maximum cef and restarted the VSS service.

Unfortunately, the problem persists after restarting.

We had planned to filter the full internet routes and enable by default and ospf route only in the VSS service and restart the VSS service to make sure that the table AAGR is not overloaded.

If I fail the next step is to return to autonomous mode and hope that the processor will not pull up.

My Question: These step will prevent the issue? Suggestions or the reference similar to the problem I am facing in?

    Hello Sophie,.

unless you have a PFC 3CXL and all the DFCs the AAGR 3CXL can manage only 256 000 IP prefixes and nowdays that complete a table is in order or 310-320 000 routes.

    See

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps9336/product_data_sheet0900aecd806ed759_ps708_Products_Data_Sheet.html

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/prod/collateral/switches/ps5718/ps708/product_data_sheet09186a0080159856.html

See table 1 in the second link it tells what I wrote in the first line.

    > We planned to filter the full internet routes and enable by default and ospf route only in the VSS service and restart the VSS service to make sure that the table AAGR is not overloaded.

You should not need the device after accepting only the default route in OSPF or BGP AAGR use will be greatly reduced this is just wait a few minutes (unless there is an underlying SW bug) for the MSFC to update CFP and then all DFCs

    Hope to help
