• Put text highlighted blocks Indesign

  I use InDesign CC on PC, and highlighting the text with the text tool is blocking the program, give me a message that says what indesign has stopped working. I tried fixing the issue by erasing my preferences many times, but also delete all my files of fonts. However, none of these things worked. I use Windows 10.

  Edit: I also discovered that trying to open preferences > dictionary blocks the program with the same error message.

  Two additional ideas

  (1) have you tried with another font?

  2) has enough rights (admin) InDesign to his request and preferences file?

• Problem of numbered list in InDesign using paragraph Styles Code syntax highlighter

  Styles using GREP in the options of styles paragraph that I managed to make it useful, HTML, CSS, and Javascript, styles of syntax highlighter.

  Code can be copied and pasted, or can be typed and styles work well. .

  My only problem is with the numbering.

  I've implemented a character list ordered for my type of chip.

  Although the size of characters must be greater than the size of the code in order to get the character bar to connect and be a solid line.

  Is there a way to have the same size font for the numbering and the code and a bar of character which will connect? Do not be destroyed, because the separator between the numbered lines and the code?

  Also it doesn't seem to be a way to change the color or the weight of the bar (it must be the same color as the number) with a bar automatically generate? Is it possible?

• Highlighted text available fixed epub from InDesign CC

  I create a fixed layout with InDesign CC epub book. I made my first page and open in ibooks and found that it won't let me highlight the text. I can highlight text in a fluid layout, but not in this new fixed layout.  Any advice on how to get my text of provision fixed to be highlightable? Being able to highlight is a large part of my project.  Thanks in advance for your help.

  Sorry guys... Here I had seen this before. I could have told you that highlight and note-taking capabilities are disabled intentionally fixed layout EPUB and Kindle KF8 books.

  The only time where you will see a FXL book that does support highlighted is if is B & N or Amazon "Perfect Page" or "replica" - format which is basically just a PDF packed of all kinds that can be read via Kindle and Nook apps (other College book apps like kno.com and the old support Page Replica CourseSmart Too much. CourseSmart has recently merged with VitalSource, however, so I don't know what they are doing these days WRT replicas of page). iBooks does not support any kind of reply to print the page. It's the EPUB 3 FXL or author only for Apple iBooks.

• Layer overrides what it means in InDesign?

  On the link Info Panel links section there is a feature called "Layer /" followed by Yes ("number"). Please, can someone tell me what layer overrides means?

  Explanation of Peter is quite right, it may seems a little sinister when it is not.

  If the same image is used in more than one goal using layer substitutes, at least one of the instances must necessarily be different from that of the saved file. Maybe each instance will be different from that of the saved file. For example, versions two provisions a logo, color, and a level of gray, but made in the same file. The grayscale logo is on a layer, color logo is on another. The file is saved by showing the two layers - but when place in InDesign that one or other of the layers is on never dependent on which logo is show in this instance.

  Well, here is a step by step how to do with GREP, but requires not GREP styles, which I think are overkill for this situation. You can simply open the Find/Replace window, click on the GREP tab and in the search window

  [\x{3000}-\x{ffef}]+

  and in the window of change set

  $0

  and in the background in the change of Format, choose your Chinese police.

  Then find everything first, then replace/find, over and over again, until you're done.

  If you prefer, you can make a style of Chinese character and which apply instead of your Chinese police in the change Format box.

  The actual GREP query depends on exactly what you have in Chinese, and this is the part that is hard for me to guess. 2006 Jongware suggestion:

  [\x{3000}-\x{efff]}

  lack of punctuation full hunting, so if there are extra large Chinese commas, that they be taken over by the GREP query. Mine includes full punctuation Hunt, but there are also a whole bunch of things at the end of Unicode that is not Chinese, so if you have any extraordinary... uh... uh.. unusual Arab characters in there, my GREP query will pick up those, too. (It's "Arabic forms presentation B" for those of you who hides or monitoring in 2016 or whatever). However, if you know that everything you have is plain vanilla English and plain vanilla in Chinese with some Greek characters, then my GREP query must be safe.

• InDesign CS5.5 addresses frame Edge highlighting and saves to CS4

  Two of the biggest complaints I've seen last year, unable to stop the framework highlighting the edge and back record one version have been addressed in CS5.5.

  There is a new user preference to turn off edge highlighting the framework and export IDML opens in CS5 and CS4. Technically, I guess it's only 1.5 versions but there is little hope in the future.

  It is important to note that CS5 cannot open CS5.5 .indd files directly. If you want to upgrade and you need to share with other users who don't the have not yet done, you send them the .idml or leave your current installation in place and run both, choose the version of function where your files should go.

• InDesign, using typical display, watch type highlighted in blue (and Teal'c) how do I disable this

  I understand ID tries to help with the glyphs and the others, but I don't have the time to learn this new feature. I have an immediate project that I would like to finish, and this feature is an obstacle does not help me. I tried turning some market checkboxes in prefs, advanced type but cannot disable the feature. No time.

  It looks like this? If so, stop the highlighter to substitute style in the window > Styles > paragraph Styles.

• InDesign Applescript placed Layer Visibilty Override object

  Hi, trying to programmatically control the visibility of the layer of objects placed (I or other ID files) in a multi-page Indesign document.  Have searched all over the dictionary, but can't seem to find a way to reference layers.

  Anyone have an example of how to do this in Applescript?  (Please, not javascript, allows you to convert one day but for now I'm staying with ACE)

• CC 2015 Mac inDesign: Selected items not highlighted in "layers panel." As square boxes to the right or the name of the element in the layer panel is missing. Help, please.

• InDesign CS 5.5 points to "Override the Master Page" doesn't work

  I am working to set up a model with layers that have different art on each layer to cycled as another layer used on each page.

  They are all on the master page with a single lit.

  Dragging to the bottom of page two, turn off the first piece of art, and on the second, which is on the next layer down, change both the master layer and page 1. «Overiding the master...» "on each page does not work.

  What is the last layer that is on, changes all pages to match. "Detach" I found online as a way to select an element on the page to change, does not appear anywhere.

  It's as if they are connected in reverse. Page 3, even with the verified replacement option, by selecting another layer will be not only the change of page 3, but it changes page 1 and 2, and it changes the master page.

  Any ideas?

  That is right. Layer settings are wide document.

  But it seems to me that you try to use master pages, almost like live pages. The only thing that should be on them are things that will always be there.

• Aqua highlights made on text

  I'm runnning Indesign CC 2015 (to date) on Windows 7. In recent weeks, this problem appeared suddenly when you work in Normal view. (It does not display in preview mode. "But for my money, I want to be free to use ALL modes).

  Whenever I have start a document and create a text box, it is by default to the usual 12pt Minion Pro, but now a teal'c bar appears on the left side of the text box.

  If I keep typing, the continuous bar to extend down the side of each line I have Add.

  If I mess with this sort of text box - change the size/alignment/color/font - all the text becomes highlighted in bright aqua, of more to show the teal bar on the edge of the box.

  If I changed the text to 12pt black, the highlight goes away, but there the sidebar.

  None of this happens on the Macbook Pro; but I can't use the Mac for each project. And Indesign should work fine in Windows, regardless, no? I wonder if it is maybe because I'm under 7 and not 10. Maybe updates Indesign are not backward compatible, as far as I know.

  Things that I've tried, without success:

  Edit-Preferences: Interface, Type, Type, Composition, track changes from the tip

  : Display performance, Extras, Structure, story editor

  

  We already have that lately. A new feature in InDesign CC 2015.3:

  

  You have enabled 'Style overrides highlighter'. The small icon [+] on the right side of the paragraph Styles Panel.

• You can change .indd (InDesign) documents with photoshop?

  I have Photoshop editor of 12 items and am very experienced in it. I was given an .indd file and I need to change it, so I downloaded the trial version to edit the file... but I can't understand how to use InDesign. I need to change some diapers, but it won't let me. I checked and they are not locked. What should I do? Can I change the extension of the .indd file accessible photoshop extended? Is there anyone who has had this problem with the edition of layers?

  You can override and change the main objects on the page of the document by clicking on it while maintaining the Cmd and shift pressed. Once released, you will have access to the text.

  One thing that I have not seen mentioned was the pink highlighting in one of your screen capture. That indicates a missing font.

• Missing fonts in InDesign packed file

  Hi, I am looking to get an indesign file off the coast of a trainee Designer in another office. He conditioned, but there are still mssing fonts, and most of the text is highlighted in pink. I will paste the following text file, so you can see that some fonts are missing. I activated all the files in the fonts folder, but it is looking for Helvetica Neue T1 in 4 different weights (slim 35, 45 Light, Roman 55, 75 "BOLD"), none of them are in the folder fonts. My apologies if I'm being dumb and missed something obvious.

  I'm on a mac using CS5 on a single computer and CS6 on another, he works with or. I think they are on a mac, as far as I know.

  Tell the other designer to replace the HelveticaNeue.dfont and instances of Times.dfont by the HelveticaNeue.otf and the same with the time and then repackage. You can't have its own version of this font.
