History of the files or Norton Backup

I have a Maxtor One Touch of my old PC.  I moved to my PC Windows 8 and Seagate said that One Touch is not supported under Windows 8.  Can I use story or Norton Backup file.

What is the best to use?

Thank you

Lou

I wouldn't use anything Norton on Windows 8 computer-too many problems. Historical files is more than enough and is free if you feel you must buy something the Acronis True Image mentioned. above would be my choice. Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • Windows backup: if I delete a file on my computer, it deletes the file on my backup too?

I recently discovered that the feature of automatic backup of windows on my computer and I'm thrilled about it (I think...). So far, my method of backup was just copy and paste all my files on an external hard drive. This method works very well, but it of a lot of time because I have to open each file and include the files or documents are new since my last backup and then drag them over my external hard drive. Very labor intensive.

Thus, windows backup will do that for me automatically? It will recognize the new files and save them to each backup of the future that I create? And what would you say if the already-saved files are renamed or reorganized on my computer? The backup file will recognize these changes? Or he will treat them as if they are new files (and then let me with duplicates on the backup file)?

Also, after I backed up my files on my external hard drive, I want to be able to remove some of these files on my computer (in order to free up space on my computer). But these files will then always be on my backup file?   In other words, let's say I finished my initial backup and then delete some files on my computer... on my next backup, windows will see that I have deleted some files from my computer and think I also want these deleted my backup files? Or he'll just leave these files on the backup?

    Hello

Yes, the Windows 7 backup allows you to create the backup schedule. If you have deleted files after the backup is created, the files must be available in the Windows 7 backup. In your new scheduled backup files are added incremental basis if they available even if you delete them from your computer. All you have to do is to restore them. You can restore individual files or folder tree.

Some useful tips on Windows backup:

    • Make sure that you create the full backup or an Image of the computer before trying to scheduled backup
    • Create a daily backup schedule, using the Panel\Backup command and restoration centre
    • Verify that your scheduled backups are created every now and then
    • Run a test backup first, just to become familiar with the Windows backup
    • Try to use an external HARD drive that is bootable for backup and create a system restore disk. Just in case you need to restore your Windows 7 full

  • How to list all the files in a backup job?

    User GreyGnome:

I would like to get a list of all the files on a file system backup task. Is this possible?

Through the CLI, if possible. On Linux.

    Thank you.

    Posted by AdrianMoir

    Hi GreyGnome,

You can actually set this via the user interface on the backup options for employment. See attached picture.

This will allow you to define a path and file name of a text file that lists all the files that are backed up by work, when the work is performed.

Once the option set is saved under a name, if you create jobs through the CLI, with nvjobcreate, you can specify the selectionoptionsetname - , by using the name of the set option that you created with the entry 'Path to Backup Log'.

The text file will display the name of the file in the following attributes...

Backup Path, State, Type, size (bytes), Timestamp, attributes.

    Thank you very much

    Adrian.

  • History of the files do not save all the data

I've been running historical files for a few days now and it doesn't save any of my content. I have a single directory that contains all of the staff. Then the subdirectories under music/pictures/documents, etc. I think that this arrangement would be ideal for her, but missing all my documents.

Secondly, please adjust the cache size to more than 20 percent of the disk offline. I have a separate hard disk for this task and it makes no sense I don't have the option to put 100% of the space.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Marshall,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, I understand that you have a problem with the history file.

This issue would have occurred due to some corrupt files.

    I need some information.

    1. Did you changes to computer/file history settings prior to this problem?

  • How can I clear the history of the file menu?

By clicking on file/Clear History is not clear in fact history (nor is it possible to clear the history of the Organizer), does anyone know where Acrobat 9 stores the info (on Windows 7 x 64)? I looked in all the obvious places: c:\users\me\app data\local, locallow and roaming, also searched the register in HKCU, HKLM and HKU hives, but don't see anything obvious. In the... AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Acrobat\9.0 folder, there is a file called UserCache.bin which has the current date, but deleting it did not help. It has been recreated with the same file size, and history has remained. Yes, I've been reboot several times.

The best I can do is change the preferences to display 1 one recent document. (And before someone thinks I'm paranoid: I record video tutorials and it looks weird to have a bunch of document names displayed when I show the file menu.)

Read about it recently here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/3284841

  • How to disable the eps, save the file as < Filename > backup - 01.eps?

    Hi all

I'm not to good course how I came across a box that was checked off in the saving options, but whenever I save files eps, Illustrator will also save another backup file with-'01 "after the name of the file and before the extension".eps". In addition, every time I have save the document (as opposed to "save under") a dialog box appears asking me if I want to replace the existing file. Of course, I do.

My question is: How can I turn this off?

NOTE: as far as I know, this problem of mine is only limited to the .eps files, or more precisely, it doesn't happen during the recording of .ai files.

    Thank you.

During the recording of the EPS files remember unckeck the box, lower left in the Save dialog box indicating the use of work plans.

  • History of the file Trashbox

Is there a way to manage history files "trashbox" shortly find with explore and manually delete the content?

I'm not sure what you mean by trashbox, but I suspect you mean all backups of old that you can't have more than need.

Under control panel, you can choose how long the backup versions are kept and clean them too.  I got mine worth just keeping until there need more space, while it is not keep bugging me to run out of space.

  • How to extract deleted the file from itunes backup iPhone photos

I bought an iPhone 16G 6 s two months ago and the storage is in short lately. So I deleted a large number of items than the iPhone, especially for photos and videos. But now, I realized there were 3 important photos deleted by mistake. Luckliy, I backed up the device with iTunes. I know that iTunes is the official way to restore an iPhone. In my case, I only need to restore these 3 photos, there is no need to restore the whole itunes backup. How can I retrieve pictures only from the backup file?

You can't isolate only the photos in the backup file

You will need to do a restore - fix these pictures and re delete others

  • the file size of backup/restore

    Hello

I / m a beginner in oracle, so please be patient.

I had a complete test-database. I tested my application. Now, I want to deploy an empty database to another location. So, I made a backup and restore. (first set archivelog true, by using the sql command line).

To my surprise, the restored data file has the same size as the database complete. I expected to be very low. In the database use to work with (firebird) backup and restore is a way to clean your data and get rid of the empty space...

Oracle seems to handle this in different ways. What Miss me?

    Thank you

    Mieke

I did a backup and restore.

I guess you used the backup and restore Oracle, which takes place in RMAN menu. If so, RMAN makes a 'physical' backup, if the copy cannot be different from the original.

In the database use to work with (firebird) backup and restore is a way to clean your data and get rid of the empty space...

To reorganize your data, you must use the expdp/impdp command.
