History of Windows Update and point - GONE of restore system.

My computer started having problems Impossible to install updates. I have accumulated nearly 100 of them! I decided to try to install them in groups of 5 or 6. Which seem to help, all but one, KB948465.

Last night, I decided to try to install the updates / stop feature? It turn off fine, but when I turned back, I started to do all these pop ups tell me one thing or one other had not loaded due to an error and I wanted to report it. Then Windows froze, I couldn't open the Start Menu and my partially frozen Windows Sidebar charge n. I used the Task Manager to get outta there.
When I restarted and tried to use F11 to do a system restore to an earlier date, I was told that I have had no restore points! Now that is bull bc I had manually set the and was also on Auto.
By some miracle I return to my office and there I am trying to find an error code that WinUpdate, I said I have no story and I had NEVER installed or did a scan for the updates! What? I had just installed nearly 100 updates in groups of 5 or 6, remember?
Before this accident down, I could not install update KB948465... Why? And what would cause all this drama? Please, please help me. I am naïve when it comes to madness in computers. That is why the miracle to return to my office at all.
Information system.
Laptop: HP Pavilion dv4
OS: Vista 64-bit
I hope this is enough information. Please ask if
I have nothing left.

The computer is running fine all yesterday and has worked very well since just after the new year when he has been upgraded to Windows 7. No material changes have been made, and no software changes were made by users in the course of last week.

The computer is an AMD Athlon II X 4 with 4 GB of RAM on a motherboard Asus M4A78-EM, linking a 64 GB SSD, with a 250 GB drive SATA data/programs. GPU is a Nvidia 260, and it has a CD and DVD player as well. It is connected to our router using the gigabit ethernet interface motherboards.

It was under windows 32 - bit XP SP3 up just after the new year. When we put in place the new SSD to replace a hard drive older than we have did a new install of XP (slipstreamed with SP3) and then used the upgrade 32-bit W7 Home premium DVD version to upgrade the system. Since then, the system runs flawlessley.

  • I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2. Is there a way to delete records of only updates of failed or cancelled in the history of Windows Update?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium 32 - bit SP2.

Is there a way to delete the records of 'detail' of only updates of failure or cancelled in the history of Windows Update?

I just installed hotfix for Windows (KB947821).

It looks like a lot of my earlier 'failed' and 'Cancelled' updates are automatically updated and installed, and successfully, I might add.

Some dates in some records do not seem much sense. I guess I'm looking for a way to select the records, I want to get rid of.

    Help?

    Hi Jeffrey,.

It's not really a taken way in charge to remove only the cancelled or failed updates. These are taken from windows logs and displayed in the history. Steps that Jose post is a way to remove all files in history and will remove all updates as well as a failed/cancelled updates successfully.

  • Have a Windows update and my screens are all screwed up now, Please HELP!

I am running Vista Home Basic and day before yesterday when I rebooted my computer, a Windows update itself installed. He said he was installing 1 of 1 files. I knew the idea of what the update was for, but when I brought my system to the top of the screen and all open windows, including web screens are all strange and almost hourglass like? I tried to restore my system to three times, tried to adjust resolutions and even settings on my old monitor and nothing works. It also seems that all icons and things are a little bit bigger and I don't see anything on the left and the right of my screen. Can someone help me? The only thing that seems normal is the password screen that appears when I turn on my computer before I get to my home page? Any ideas?

    Hi PVneedshelp,

    Welcome!

I suggest that you try to system restore to the point before you install the update by using the Windows vista installation disc.
To use the Windows recovery environment, you must have the Windows Vista or Windows 7 installation disc. To start the Windows recovery environment, follow these steps:
1 put the installation disc in the disc drive, and then start the computer.
    2. press a key when you are prompted.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    3. Select a language, a time , and monetaryand a method of keyboard or input and then click Next.
    4. click on repair your computer
    5. in the dialog box System Recovery Options, click the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next
In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click System Restore to restore the operating system to the restore point created when the program or the driver has been installed.

Check out the link for more information below.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/restore-your-computer-from-a-system-image-backup

If the previous step fails, then I suggest that you uninstall the display adapter driver that is present on the computer and then install the latest driver for graphic map of the manufacturer's Web site and check if it works very well.

You must be logged on as administrator to perform these steps.
How to uninstall a computer device driver.
    1. open the Manager of devices by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    2. in Device Manager, look for the device you want to Update, and then double-click the nameof the device .
    3. click on the tab driver , then click Uninstall and follow the instructions.
Once the uninstall is complete, restart the computer and then install the driver to view CAD that you downloaded from the website of computer manufacturer.

Also suggest to run Windows updates and make sure that you install the availability.

    1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programsand then click Windows Update.
    2. in the left pane, click check for updates, and then wait while Windows searches the latest updates for your computer.
    3. If updates are found, click install updates. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Regds, 'a journey of a thousand miles begins with a first step."

  • I have problems with the installer of Windows and Windows Update, and the solutions that I found for the two each rely on the other broken system to fix the first.

I use a laptop HP Pavilion dv4-1220us with Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1, a 64-bit operating system, and I have problems with Windows Update and Windows Installer. When I try to install programs, I get the following, or substantially similar message without the error code:

"Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if Windows Installer is not installed properly. Contact your support team. »

So I tried to download Windows Installer 4.5 and install it. When I try to start the installation, it always hangs on the first step, "Initializing Installation."

After searching for a solution to this problem, I found that Windows Update may have a solution. So I downloaded the 64 bit version and got a file named 'file Windows6. 0-KB942288-v2 - x 64. I tried to run this file. He opened a box that said, in order "Prepare for Installation", "Full Preparation", and finally "Searching for Updates ', before you open a second box, which reads" click OK to install the following Windows software update: fix for Windows (KB942288). I clicked on OK in this box, which opened another box, which says at the top "updates are installed" and in a smaller section, "initializing for Installation................... »

However, no matter how long it works, it never gets past "Setup initialization."... »

So I tried to run Windows Update in Control Panel. He ran for a while, before giving a message saying "to check the updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update." I clicked on the button that says "install now". He has flashed, a moment, "download and installation of updates' before you go to the"check for Updates"and then he brought back the exact same upward ' to check updates, you must first install an update for Windows Update" message as before. I clicked install now once again, only to go into the exact same loop. After about four times in a loop, I gave up on it.

So I tried to install Windows Installer 3.1v2, which took a while before saying "not enough memory is available to process this command." and the abandonment of the installation.

So, I tried to download a program from 'Mr. Fix - it' of Microsoft. It downloaded fine and then failed on installation, because of the same Setup error I received initially.

Finally, I tried to restart my computer and each solution is represented. Then I clean my computer and each solution is represented.

In conclusion, the mistakes that I have in Windows Update and Windows Installer cordoned off each other, as the mistakes of each program are based on the other program to be repaired. I'm at my wit's end here. My computer works fine without one, except that I can't install new programs. I can access the internet fine, access files fine, all my scans have developed own... I try to run windows update and it will not update gives error code 80070005, I also ran fix and it tells me that it is fixed but it is not getting the same error code when I try to update after running it help please?

    Hello

    1. which Microsoft Fixit did you?

2 have you installed new hardware or software before the show?

    3. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

4 update you are trying to install?

    5. are you logged on as administrator on the computer?

If this isn't the case, I suggest you to log on as an administrator and check for the issue.

    Method 1:
One of the other reason for the 80070005 error is caused by software running on your computer security.
Temporarily disable the security software on the computer and see if that makes a difference.
    Disable the anti-virus software
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2:
I suggest you perform the steps described in the article:
Error: 0x80070005 when you try to install updates by using Microsoft Update or Windows Update
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/968003
This problem may occur if access is denied when accessing or copying files during the process of Windows Update or Microsoft Update. Access may be denied if you have logged on to the computer as a standard user and this account does not have permission to install updates. I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

It may be a corrupted catalog file.  However, it can also be a corrupted system file.  In the latter case, the System File Checker may be able to fix it.  Click Start, type "cmd" in the search/Run box and right-click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane.  Select run as administrator.  When the cmd window type "sfc/scannow" at the prompt and press ENTER.  When the scan is finished, close the cmd window.  Alternatively, you can try to install clean or safe mode boot mode.  See

The procedure should work the same for Windows 7 and Vista.

Enter the Mode safe mode by starting the cold computer and pressing the key function F8 repeatedly as soon as the manufacturer splash screen appears.
