Holding the drawing rectangle left click on the screen - what is it?

On my desk and some Web pages, I can press the left mouse button, drag it, and he draws a rectangle - as it is to select a field. Release the mouse button the rectangle disappeared and wondering what it was all about. The area inside the rectangle is not highlighted in some way. However, when there is a picture (photo) on the page, SOMETIMES (without moving the mouse), the left click highlights the image in blue degraded even if the pointer is not on the image. It's like a painting - where the rectangle selects an area to be edited, only this doesn't give any options or menus to consider after the rectangle has been established - and then disappears with the release of the button. What is c?

Hello

This design, and you don't have to worry about this. It's normal.

When we have a left-click on the desktop or any empty space (white) away from all the folders and drag it will show you a rectangle, also an area shaded inside the rectangle will appear.

The function of left click drag is to select so it continue to look the same.

It will be useful.

    Hello

    I want my code to do the following:

    when user touch and hold on the screen{
        myThread.start();
    }

    when user release the finger on the screen{
        myThread.done(); //a method to stop the thread

    Any ideas? Thank you very much

    Never to change never return super.touchEvent (...) to return true (well, you can do it for complete events such as MOVE or GESTURE. SWIPE_...) -you will disrupt the event processing complex (just about everything, but downwards and upwards).

    The code works for me (I do something else, with more visual impact, so I know for sure that it does). One thing, try - check the status of your Thread (isAlive()) before you start, as DOWN seems to be generated twice.

    If you could be more specific with what "won't work" is, I would be able to help more.

  • Qosmio G30 pink pixels on the screen - what can I try next?

    I have a qosmio G30 on the white parts of the screen were pink pixel in them as well as purple pink pixels around parts.

    In reading the various posts, I have eliminated the graphics chip/card that I can get a perfect image on an external display. The laptop is out of warranty and also out of the extra year for graphics problems, so I tried to fix it myself. I tried all of the solutions below and none have worked.

    I wonder if anyone could give me any other things to try.

    I've updated the BIOS and the display driver - no change.
    I then replaced the motherboard to the LCD connection with a new cable - no change.

    And finally, I have replaced the LCD screen with a new - again no change.

    -Always works fine on an external monitor.

    Any ideas or suggestions would be very appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    I think you're talking about dead pixels.
    Would this be possible?

    The problem of dead pixels has nothing to do with the graphics card but it s a display problem.
    So I was wondering why this problem persists after the LCD has been replaced

    Maybe a Toshiba laptop technician should verify and test parts of the hardware to make sure what part could be the problem exactly

I did a Google search & followed all instructions to fix the problem, but none of them worked. All was not lost. I just waited the battery to impoverish & the computer is off. I then plugged the power supply & noted AMBER light, showing that the power was connected load. I continued my work on my desk, & after a few hours, noted the amber light goes out & turned BLUE, having shown that it is fully charged. I had no problem if the laptop is turned on by the normal method, & all systems, touchpad mouse was working 100%.

  • On NEW laptop keyboard does not work after that the screen keyboard has been activated and then deactivated.

    Look at my friend got a new laptop and went through the whole upward. the on-screen keyboard has been activated which invalidates the real keyboard when the on-screen keyboard has been disabled the real keyboard has NO return. If this is a bug... Fix it. This is not a driver issue, it is not a user error. Stop giving people answers, trying to pretend like it's not not the OS when most people already know that it is.

    I'm sorry, but I didn't not new meant only one day.  And when I got my new laptop, one of the first things I did was to create a point of files, even a day later I had a restore to use - point and that was possible here as well.  I'm sorry it wasn't the case.

    If the system restore option is not available, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc.  Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.

    If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

    If this does not work, you can try to go into the BIOS during the startup (the key appropriate to push appear on the screen to enter the boot menu or boot installation - try them both in turn if both appear. It is possible that the BIOS contains an option to disable the keyboard (which may have been activated by the keyboard on the screen but not changed when disable you the on-screen keyboard) and you may need to re-enable manually.  There is a slight possibility, but it is an option to try.

    Another option to try is to set up a new user account that has never used the keyboard on the screen and see if the regular keyboard works when you connect to this account.  If so, you can simply treat the original as a corrupt account account and use the following procedures to complete the transfer.  To fix this use http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile.

    I hope that one of these aid procedures.  I'm sorry if they seem to 'generic', but we do not really know what is the problem - especially since the system is new.  We try and identify the cause and fix the problem at the same time using the procedures available to us.  I suspect there's a registry tweak will correct this problem, but I went through the whole registry, and although I found several referencers keyboard, I could find no which seemed to control or not activate the main laptop keyboard (though it has been in one of the entries that has been encoded in binary that I couldn't read).  It's possible someone who knows more about the registry will respond to this issue with a proposal to amend (or perhaps another solution).

    I hope that one of the solutions I proposed works.  Please post back in all cases we will know whether or not to continue searching for an answer.

    Good luck!

  • Disable "on the keyboard of the screen" _

    Cannot be deactivated "on the keyboard of the screen. already removed tick in the ease of access

    I'm sorry to learn the system restore does not work - I think that could be repaired for you if it's a software problem.  It looks like a hardware problem, but we will exclude software problems before you spend money get the diagnosis and, if necessary, repaired equipment (unless your system is still under warranty with Dell, in which case I would start a disturbance immediately - they may be able to help on the phone and if not they will guide you through the process of getting a technician to check the system).

    Maybe something happened to the drivers for your keyboard.  Go to the Dell Support site and enter your product key.  Who should provide information on your specific laptop.  Then look for the keyboard drivers for your system and your version of Vista and download and install.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html (or there may be a single downloaded executable file that run you just--I know not how this driver will be downloaded).  Once done, reboot and see if your keyboard works again.

    If this does not work, try a startup repair to boot from your Installation of Windows Vista genuine disc (or one you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc. When you reboot, the keyboard now works.

    If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.

    If this is not the case, try a clean boot to see if another program interfering with the keyboard.  Here is the procedure: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the keyboard works of boot, then it's just a matter of finding the culprit, the origin of the problem.  Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once that is done, don't forget to return the system to normal operation.

    If the clean boot does not work, try to boot in safe mode (repeatedly clicking on F8 during the boot process until the menu appears) and see if you can use the keyboard there.  This can be very useful information to the narrowing of the cause and solve the problem (if it is not a hardware problem).

    If this does not help, we will check some of your system files and hard disk for corruption.

    Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the corrupt files here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc (unless there are too many).

    While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run.  She might want to plan itself to start at the next startup.  Okay, then restart so that the program can run. It will scan and attempt to resolve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a potential cause.  Restart when done and see if the keyboard works now.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

    Open internet Explorer and the problem does not occur there.

    Try Firefox Safe mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe mode is a troubleshooting mode that disables certain parameters, disables most Add-ons (extensions and themes).

    If Firefox is open, you can restart Firefox Safe mode in the Help menu:

    • In Firefox 29,0 and above, click on the menu button

      click Help

      then select restart with disabled modules.

    • In previous versions of Firefox, click on the Firefox button in the upper left of the Firefox window and click help (or click on help in the Menu bar, if you do not have a Firefox button) and click on restart with disabled modules.

    If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Mode safe mode as follows:

    • On Windows: Hold down the SHIFT key when you open the desktop Firefox or shortcut in the start menu.
    • On Mac: Hold the option key during the startup of Firefox.
    • On Linux: Exit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox-safe-mode
      (you may need to specify the installation path of Firefox for example/usr/lib/firefox)

    When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "start mode safe."

    If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to understand that one. Please follow the section Troubleshooting extensions, themes and problems of hardware acceleration to resolve common Firefox problems to find the cause.

    To exit safe mode of Firefox, simply close Firefox and wait a few seconds before you open Firefox for normal use again.

    I want to turn this feature off, but can't remember which extension it controls or if the function is built into Firefox.

    Hooray! Found! Thank you Google.

    I found an old - very old - thread on Mozillazine.org:

    http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38 & t = 340572

    And it IS a normal feature of Firefox, but it is normally OFF.

    I think I need to have recently turned it on after reading an article of "Tips and tricks of Firefox" somewhere.

    In any case, the preference is called 'ui.click_hold_context_menus '.

    And I just remembered that I added it in my preferences file "user.js", among a load of others:

    /*

    * Disable the Delay When Installing New Extensions
    */

    user_pref ("security.dialog_enable_delay", 0);
    /*

    * To turn off the URL greying
    */

    user_pref ("browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled", false);
    /*

    * To unhide the "http" portion of a URL
    */

    user_pref ("browser.urlbar.trimURLs", false);
    /*

    * Enable spell checker in multi-line text boxes & single-line text boxes
    */

    user_pref ("layout.spellcheckDefault", 2);
    /*

    *   Double underline style
    */

    user_pref ("ui. SpellCheckerUnderlineStyle «(, 4);
    /*

    * Cycle through open tabs with Ctrl+Tab
    */

    user_pref ("browser.ctrlTab.previews", false);
    /*

    * Disable Animations for Full Screen
    */

    user_pref ("browser.fullscreen.animateUp", 0);
    /*

    * Click and hold on a hyperlink to show the context menu
    */

    user_pref ("ui.click_hold_context_menus", true);
    /*

    * Instant Apply Preferences Without Closing Options Window
    */

    user_pref ("browser.preferences.instantApply", true);
    /*

    * Middle-click in any textfield, addressbar or searchbox to paste clipboard
    */

    user_pref ("middlemouse.paste", true);

    So there's a lesson here: do not add too many settings to your preferences of Firefox at the same time or you may forget what you were doing!

    Thank you, all. I will now mark this as "resolved".

  • Click and hold the windows bar blocks the execution of LV

    Hi guys

    I have a real time data acquisition application which usually is runnning full screen, and as such, I have encountered this problem before, but now we have moved to a scalable scheme and it becomes a problem...

    When you click on and hold the bar title of a VI running windows, LabVIEW hold completely running the application for a second round... To be more specific: If you just click on it and move the window instantly is not a problem, but if you click and hold the left button on the title bar of the windows of the VI / .exe running, execution stops for nearly a second.

    For acquisition of data in real time, it's quite a long time to strangle the reading process.

    I tried this on two different brands of PC and I can reproduce at the same time.

    Does anyone know what causes this behavior and, eventually, how to work around it... VI has been tested on XP and LV 8.6.1

    PNG joined something 'very complex' code to illustrate the problem

    Thanks in advance.

    This question has been asked before, and Lynn provided the same advice that I was about to suggest - create a separate UI than the DAQ VI VI so that they function as 'independent' (I use that Word loosely) process. The DAQ VI acts as a loop of producer supplying the consumer UI VI, where the 'buffer' that is allowed to fill in between is a queue, not the buffer very limited hardware.

    Sorry to break the news, but if you want to solve this problem, probably as the only solution is to have several VI for your two processes. (By the way, I am able to confirm the delay of 500-600msec when clicking on the title bar in Windows 7 Windows uses a very recent version of LabVIEW)

    It is a strange problem that I have, I got the laptop computer now for a month or two, and I'm sure it makes it I got it. The problem is pretty much the title. I can't press the letters or numbers and then left click without a 1 second or so delay, I also can not left click at all if I hold down without letting go of taken, once I do the delay still occurs. I can press the keys of arrows then left click without thin delay (where left-click is delayed / disabled right click still works.) I know that the clicks get detected as the tray icon still points out the tactile/left button when it is used.

    Some information that may be required. The driver is more recent than the one on the download section for this laptop, but I had tried both and still happens. Come here for some reason that I can't edit the first post.

    I decided that I was going to send my laptop for repairs that my arrow began to act ladle which meant that I could hardly play a game at all. I thought as a last attempt I would completely reset my computer using restore integrated Windows 8 and it worked. I can now use the keyboard and click at the same time. Although the up arrow is still a little shady, I'm happy. I thought that I would be post that incase someone else had made this experience so that they can try and so know that it worked for someone else, if you've had the experience and it does not work so good luck to find a solution.

    Update - I've narrowed it down, the problem is Windows 8.1 Overview. (Which is in beta so problems are expected). If you are considering upgrading to windows windows 8.1 8 with this model of laptop, I would strongly suggest against it.
