  Method 2 worked with a slight modification. I uninstalled the audio driver, but was unable to reinstall a driver from the manufacturer provided. Instead, I reinstalled the original drivers that have been given a disk when I bought the computer. I now have my sound back. Your advice was a great help. Thank you

  I recently had problems with my Dell Inspiron 9400/E1705 (vista 32-bit windows operating system). I couldn't get a USB microphone to work and I decided to update the sound card driver. I downloaded and updated what I thought, it was the right driver (sigmatel high definition audio codec) and since there is no sound from speakers. I followed the guide from Dell troubleshooting and disconnect any external devices and then click right click the mixer volume in the system tray, and then clicked on "open volume Mixer" and I get the message: no audio device installed. I went to the control panel to check the sound card driver and he told me that the codec sigmatel high definition audio works well and he has not updated.   What is the full error message that you receive when you try to boot to the desktop?

  Step 1: Use disable automatic restart on system failure option and check if you get an error message. If you see an error message on the screen of the monitor then post return the same thing.

  Steps to select Disable automatic restart in case of system error:

  1. reboot the computer.
  2. as the computer restarts, press the F8 key repeatedly until you see the Windows Advanced Options screen.
  3. use the arrow keys to select Disable automatic restart in case of system error and press ENTER.

  I've never had a problem using Microsoft PhotoDraw V2 with Windows 7. There were two windows updates critical that were installed on my PC this week.  The second was installed while I was working on a task and a fall that advanced the system closed and restarted without warning (normally I receive a message that the computer will restart in 10 minutes (or whatever variable time I could pick) and that I should save my work in anticipation of the recovery underway.) Following this update, Microsoft PhotoDraw V2 is no longer recognized by Windows as a viable program should be assigned as a default option for opening a specific file (jpg, jpeg, gif). I ran the compatibility issues resolution and manually set the program to run with Windows 7. No corrective steps makes no difference to the functioning of the program.

  I can open the program manually and work backward. By that I mean I can go through the process of opening the program and using the process 'file/open/XXX.jpg', but with my work, I usually take a quick decision after inspecting a file about what software or application should I use to adjust an image that I considered necessary to clouds.

  • Once you notice the numbers KB updates that have been installed prior to this issue, you can first try of uninstall and reinstall Microsoft PhotoDraw V2 and see if that corrects the problem.
  • If this does not help, I you suggest to System Restore to a previous point, when the program worked as expected and then install the updates manually one by one in a clean start state to check if that helps.

  Note: once you have completed troubleshooting, perform the steps in step 3: to reset the computer as usual.

  The model of your system is not compatible with W10. I advise you to stay with W7/W8.1 unless you want to try your luck with W10.

  Excel is not able to properly open CSV files more. I have two MacMinis to work with the same version of Excel/Office, but one with macOS Sierra displays all the data in the first column.

  Barebones Textwrangler can force CSVs to use a standard delimiter that Office can understand.  Try to open your CSV with that and save it as MS-DOS text file.
