  I recently bought a Dell Powervault 124 t. autoloader with a HBA SAS 6 GB/s card.

  I installed the card SAS in the PE 2950, but now I can't seem to see in ESXi.

  This isn't the issue. The question is: do you have a link that shows devices supported?

  Reference Dell does support the autoloader Powervault 124 t. on ESXi 3.5?

  Have you checked the VMware HCL already, if the SAS controller is included/supported for ESXi version, you are running?

  There are a few articles which have tape readers running with Adaptec SCSI controllers, I don't see anything for ESXi 3.5 with a SAS controller still...

  Maybe there's a better chance to make this work with ESX 4.x with VMDirectPath

  Whit another word, can be installed on the same ESXi FREE more than a BONE and make this race at the "same time"?

  Or is the FREE edition that is designed to run only one Instance at a time?

  I know that most host on the same physical server required Memomy large and more a physical processor.

  Question:

  How many maximum CPU and physical RAM are supported on ESXi FREE? Correct is the FREE load up to 8 GB of RAM?

  If I am mistaken, there is no limitation on access to storage in the free edition, other than the restriction that applies to all editions.

• VMware ESXi 4 on Dell PowerEdge 2950 CDROM missing in virtual machines

  Hi all

  I installed VMware 4.0 on my Dell PowerEdge 2950, and everything moved very well. I had the ISO image from the support site on the website of VMware and Dell. I installed both with the same problem, once installed, the CD-ROM will not be displayed in any virtual machine, I create.

  I changed the boot parameters, the order of the boot, played with the BIOS settings, and no matter what I do, when I start the virtual machine and open a console window and try to connect on the CDROM, a message displays saying that the device is disconnected.

  I have reinstalled Windows on the box, went to the site of support of Dell and applied each update BIOS patch and firmware of the box. Including the one for the TEAC CDROM, which is in my box.

  Anyone had this problem before? If so, how should I do? I really need this works quickly. Without a CDROM, I can't install software such as SQL Server and others.

  I assume that you have added a CDROm for virtual machines?

  You then specify "logged in/connected to the power on" in the settings of VM page? (I know it's usually obvious.. .but I did it very mistaken once this week.. .accidentally added the CDROM to the VM wrong.)

  What OS your virtual machine is running and you have the installed VMTools?

  If issuing a VMtools install on a windows host, it works, then the Cd drive works as ESX uses the virtual CD Rom to install the tools.

• ESXi 4.1 and Dell PowerEdge 860

  I can't find Dell PoweEdge 860 to VMware hardware compatibility list.  And it is not in "Die ESXi 4.x compatibility" Dell either.  But I found a few post on someone managed to install ESXi 4.0 on a USB key.

  My 860 PE has a SAS 5/iR adapt (RAID controller).  Someone managed to installed ESXi 4.1 (U1 or U2) on this model?  Should I use generic ISO image to ISO from VMware or custom Dell?

  So I finally tried Dell's custom ISO for ESXi 4.1 U2 (VMware-VMvisor-InstallerCD-4.1_Update2-502767.x86_64-DellCustomized_A02.iso)

  ESXi software has been installed without problem.  My RAID controller is correctly recognized as SAS 5/iR adapter.  And things are obviously well run.

  However, there is something quite disturbing: the disk data store has the property

  Hardware acceleration: unknown

  More, even if my drives are SAS 15krpm, disk i/o is really slow (especially writing). When the server was using Windows Server 2003 R2, the writing on the disc was faster.  I don't know if there is anything I could do...

• ESXi 4 - Dell Poweredge 2950

  2 * 3.16 and processors quad Core (Intel x 5460)

  Last Bios version (2.6.1)

  ESXi Version 3.5 update 4 has worked without problems

  It wasn't an upgrade.

  New installation

  ESXi v4 - update 1 (Build 164009) was loaded on a USB (same as the one used for 3.5)

  When it starts, it gets that

  "vfat loaded successfully."

  Rest for 20 seconds, then returns this error:

  "Cannot find the Boot Partition.

  There are two virtual disks freshly wiped in the system (no not required).

  Any ideas?

  ESXi 4 can be installed from the CD on a USB - try that if you haven't done so already.

  Otherwise, install to local disks.

  Please give points for any helpful answer.

  I'm testing the new ESXi 4 on a Dell Optiplex 760. In ESXi, I have an Ent W2k3. Machine of R2 SP2 and I want to use a USB device.

  In the config of het windows machine I add the usb controller.

  When I start the machine, I see a 'Remove hardware safely' there is a connected usb controller.

  But if a connected a USB to the ESXi machine it does not appear in the windows machine.

  Should I install additional drivers in ESXi?

  USB keys are not supported on a virtual computer that is located on ESX/ESXi.

  Need your help to get a script to capture power consumption/use of an esxi host. I checked the command get-stat, I don't see any special argument as energy consumption in check for the host entity. The time interval can be anything, I'd like to see the same values that manifest slot for power under the tables of performance of an esxi host.

  I 4 4.1 esx hosts managed with 1 VC running on 1 of these hosts.

  I upgraded this environment with 4 new guests esx 4.1 (more memory etc.), but the cpu options are not the same, so I can't vmotion guests who are running on it. I have to turn off all the customers and restart just on new hosts. I can handle this with VC, but how I can restart the VC, I have to turn off the comments and normally I could migratie, but since this is the Victoria Cross itself, I'm confused how to on this subject properly, any suggestions?

  It's pretty unlikely you'll experience all the corruption of the ESXi itself host after that your virtual machines are down. So according to me, once per hour that the ESXi host is running an autobackup.sh script that writes the configurations of drive - the ESXi host always there's a possibility of corruption, but few likely.

  In my lab, I have a real physical server which monitors the power failure and all the virtual machines on the ESXi host and then runs an SSH stops script that logs on the ESXi host and not a command "busybox halt" that stop the ESXi server, but leave in the on State. In this way the server ESXi on again when the power is restored, but there is no chance of corrupting the drive hard because I stopped the ESXi server.

  Of course my physical machine then turns off itself last. In your situation, I don't know how you could do that except annex a sort of cronjob to do the command halt busybox on the ESXi host a minute after stopping you your VM that monitors the UPS first. Would be fun work.

  Without replacing your PC power, NVIDIA GTX 750 it would be a great choice, and it's the best of the lot that you referenced. Research the model NVIDIA GTX 750 that some models require a PCI-E power connector 6 pin auxiliary lacking the 300 watt power supply in your PC.

  Need help to show the instantaneous power in a graphical way.

  My circuit is just a PWM chopping an IRF840 to 58khz using a motor continuous under load.

  Would like to know if MSim has some tool or meter to show me the voltage x current as it develops through

  Drain the Source of the Mosfet, so I could see losses of peak power.

  I use an oscilloscope to base through a resistance in series to watch current and then it multiplies with the voltage, namely

  instantaneou power. But maybe there is a practical way using another tool or meter which records its maximum

  value.

  In the Output tab, you can add the expression "V * I ' as output.

  I am looking for the graphics card more powerful that this computer can cope.

  I believe that slots pcie 16 x are able to provide 75w max.

  The power of 240 watts has these rails voltage below:

  + 3.33v - 15A

  + 12.0V - 7. 5A

  + 12.0V cpu - 11. 5A

  the card that I'm looking is hd 6670 1 GB gddr5 discrete, the most important character being the TDP 66w

  It seems that tensions on the computer is + 12v and + 3.3V pcie bus, I guess that reading around, it is the 12v line which is the major supplier tension involved.

  So the hd 6670 drawing max 66watts graphics card needs to absolute maximum 12 volt 5.5 amp, but apparently is not often use this property

  I put an energy monitor on the pc and general functioning under uses of pc on 65w (playing a game etc)

  Was the maximum I could get the pc to use 107w, it was for a short time while turning the DVD and do a test of stress on graphic memory and cpu, happened at 89-91watts after that. (it seems that dvd adds 17watts up spinning)

  So the question is: can you see a problem with the graphics card said on the computer said

  It is difficult for me to say since I like to test things first hand, and I avoid SFF desktop business.

  According to me, the plug must be wrong, or there is a tolerance built into the power of the slot machine.

  If a guy says that he runs a HD 6570 in the slot and it works, one of two things must be true.

  1. it puts no load on it and the thing isn't drawing 25 watts of power, and it was just lucky so far.

  2. There is no problem with execution as the card in the PC under any load.

  I know that a 6450 would work in your model.

  Check the specs on it. If it attracts more than 25W, the info on the specs are suspect.

  The 6450 is the optional available on the 8200 Elite SFF with 240W P/S.

  I have a rtf model and an xml data file. When I generate the release, beep desktop tool, the graph shows the value as null as expected. But the same thing when I try to preview the output in xml editor responsibility in ebs, null values are shown as a zero in the graph.

  Download the rtf, xml and the release of the desktop ebs and beep tool.

  Please advise on how to display the value null when the data aren't there in a graphic that is in the rtf model in EBS.

  Note: The issue happens with all types of output

  The BSE file is secure so I don't see the version,

  but probably you are on a version lower than desktop computer (10.1.3.4.1).
