Host TCP SYS scanner

It seems that whenever a mail server connects a mass mailing to clients I see this fire GIS.

I also see the SIG fires when "some" users surf to websites with rejected (DoubleClick, Akamai, etc..)

According to the DB, GIS to MySDN, this GIS is benign, as long as the traffic seen is internal.

Is this the case?

Do you mean the scan TCP SYN host (3030-0)? I never really found to be a useful signature, especially because it doesn't relate ports under analysis. It is prone to false positives as well because it fires on the return circulation (as a HTTP proxy, for example). Filtering can fix this if you are so inclined.

      ACCEPT LARGER DATAGRAMS.

         This is a long established rule.

   To resolve the ambiguity in the TCP Maximum Segment Size option
   definition the following rule is established:

      THE TCP MAXIMUM SEGMENT SIZE IS THE IP MAXIMUM DATAGRAM SIZE MINUS
      FORTY.

         The default IP Maximum Datagram Size is 576.
         The default TCP Maximum Segment Size is 536.

    We have Pix515E and Pix506E, both are configured to pretty much the same: IP private networks inside, entering NAT for web/SSH servers for access. The problem is: inside hosts can not access these servers with NAT translation (cannot ping, cannot http, can't ssh). I thought that they are all the same network and will not affect the pix firewall, but why they don't communicate with each other? We used to use CheckPoint and never have such a problem for private network access intra-problem:

    What IPs try internal users access? 192.168.1.x or 206.246.202.x?

    I don't fully understand your situation, but your NAT Setup is very weird. I've never used "global (inside)..."

    If users try to get to 192.168.1.x, try to remove these lines:

    Yes you are right. The VMkernel is hypervisor - the thing that makes the magic of the work of virtualization.

    The VMkernel has an IP stack to do the things that you have mentioned: vMotion, iSCSI, NFS, etc. which do not exist as on the VMkernel interfaces. Often, but not always, these IP addresses are not accessible outside the VMkernel. For example, if you run an isolated network dedicated to these services. Essentially by issuing a vmkping you issue a ping from the VMkernel interface for another interface, VMkernel not necessarily another interface.

    Compare this with the ping who seems just the Service Console interface.

    If we look at a simple ESX build - two hosts (ESXA and ESXB) with two NICs (vmnic0 and vmnic1). On the ESXA and B, we have the Service Console running vmnic0 with the natachasery connected to a switch. We perform a cross on the cable between the hosts connected to vmnic1 and have configured it for vMotion. In this scenario if you issue a ping from host you a submission in response to the Service Console of IP and other devices on the same subnet connected to the switch. However if you ping the address of vMotion you won't because it is on another inaccessible network - in steps vmkping.

    Wild Cards both will find files with the extension .zip? A.zip will find files with 4 letters with A name like
    the last of them. MyFile *. ? OC will find the files that begin with MyFile and have nothing else, or anything else after

    You analyze probably two folder that both have music in them. Or the same file twice.

    WMP11 - Tools - Options - Library tab - folder monitor - expand with down Advanced Options on the left.

    Close WMP using this - you can open WMP to look and then close that you check the results.
