Hotmail accounts - December 28, 2011

The Windows Live team have just supoossedly contacted me by e-mail to say that due to an overload of accounts hotmail, mine will be shut down unless I reply with the following information (check it!): name, user name, password, birthday, telephone number and country of origin. I guess it's a HUGE scam. Please confirm. Otherwise, they say they will close your account and you will lose all your info, not to mention that you will be allowed is never re - open a Hotmail account (NIP!... don't go overboard I think.)

However, how can I be sure when things really come from Microsoft (or Windows Live) or not? Where are you going to check the authenticity of these messages.

Hotmail email scams

Hotmail emails requesting usernames, passwords and personal information are phishing scams. Do not answer. Please see:

Depends on what version of the year of your WLM 2009 or 2011.

They have different received to get accounts from email.

    Hi cor - el
Thank you very much for your support. Everything is OK now. I followed your instructions carefully. After clearing the Cache & Cookies I started Firefox in Mode safe and managed it to access my Hotmail account. To solve the problem permanently, I clicked refresh Firefox in Mode safe and all is now well.

  • Mail cannot connect to Hotmail account.  Why?

Before I was on vacation last week, my hotmail account has been working find on my icon of mail on my macbook pro and iPad.  Since the return from vacation, I can not connect to my hotmail on these products account two apple.  My iPhone 6 works find.

Can someone help me as its driving me crazy.  The password that I use is correct.  I have connected to my hotmail account by going online and everything is fine.

    AAARRRGGHHHH!

Open Keychain Access utility, use S.o.s. under Menu Keychain Keychain, and then either check the password on this point, change, or delete it and start over.

    You can have multiple entries.

Open Keychain Access utility, enter the part after the sign @ in the search bar and press enter

The rejection of password can confuse people because there's a catch its meaning...

This password, username, authentication method is not recognized on this Port for this server, more than one entry in Keychain Access for each input, input/output or end of server problem.

If you use a browser to connect via WebMail works, but not name or password, but that of others.

    Receiver e-mail ports are:

    IMAP is port 143

    IMAP-SSL is port 993

    POP is port 110

POP - SSL is port 995

    The outbound ports are...

SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25 and 587, 465. Port 587 should be SSL and port 465 is applied sheathed TLS and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Hi, I accidentally downloads all my email from a Hotmail account without leaving a copy on the server. How can I download them back again?

I have configured my Hotmail account with POP server to see my email in Thunderbird. When you set up the account, I have accidentally unchecked leave messages on the server on the server configuration option. The following days, I saw more than 2000 email disappearing from my Web server! How can I download their return?
    Thank you very much
    Martin

It is usual, but not absolutely necessary, for the emails to download from the server to the TB Inbox e-mail account and then delete them from the server.

I personally, clear all but the last 30 days on the server, whereas between my monthly backup and emails on the server, I was able to recover most, if not all the mail loss.

You could get the emails on the server, but you will notice that all dates seem to change the date when you put them back on the server.

  • Hotmail account problems

    Hello

Apple Mail: I have 2 hotmail accounts. 1 works fine.

The other not so much: I get a message to enter your password for this hotmaill account in Internet accounts. And whenever I try to type the password, it gives an error - Impossible to verify the account name or the password...

I am able to connect to hotmail Web page with the same credentials - and it works very well.

-as I said the other account to Hotmail works fine too.

-J' also tried retyping the same account name and password in Apple Mail - and it stores data but I can't go online, either - It keeps failing.

Question: any ideas how to solve this problem? The problem seems to be when I did the last update of El Capitan 10. 11 5.

    Hello, revDAVE!

I can understand wanting to all email accounts work fine on my Mac well. As the application continues to apply to enter the password for Hotmail accounts, you might want to try this: If Mail on your Mac continues to request your password in particular, check the options on the bottom.

Your email provider may reject your password for several reasons, including:

    • You do not use your current e-mail password. If you updated the password on another device, make sure you use the same password on this device.
    • Your email provider needs you to update or reset your password for security reasons. For example, if you have enabled Google two-step verification, your Gmail in Mail account now requires the appropriate passes app.
    • Your disabled email provider or suspension of your account. Your provider of e-mail for help.

Another option that might help is to remove the account and then add it again. To remove:

    Delete an account

When you delete a mail e-mail account, messages from the account are deleted and are no longer available on your Mac. The copies of the messages remain on the mail server account and are still available (from webmail, for example).

Important: If you are not sure if you want to keep the messages are still on the mail server, move or copy them to a mailbox stored on your Mac (the mailbox appears in the section on my Mac in the mail sidebar) before deleting the account in Mail.

    1. Choose Mail > Preferences, and click accounts.

    2. Select an account, then click on the button Delete .

Once you have removed the account, add it back:

    • To add another account, choose Mail > add an account, select an account type, and then enter your account information. Make sure that the Mail check box is selected for the account.

  • Mac Mail continues to request password Hotmail account

Recently my Mac Mail were continually asked my hotmail account password. When I enter it I get a message that it cannot verify the user and the password. The pop3 account was changed to popmail.outlook.com on the Mac. Worked until about 2 weeks ago.

I was not able to put in place than others, IMAP or Exchange Outlook. If you try to use "Other E-mail", it may not always check the password. It still works on the iphone 4, so I know that the password is fine. I can access in the browser if the account is fine too.

I deleted VPN and firewall but no luck. I deleted all the old password Keychain for 'hotmail' and 'live', just in case.

I don't want to lose all of my old emails that they are located in several folders work with other emails from other servers... Can't risk to delete and re-add this account. I have years of important emails. I realize I could use time machine to retrieve messages, but it is painful and slow.

Anyone got working under the latest Mac OS X (el Cap) Mac Mail from Hotmail? What are the settings you are using please?
