Virus Malware Trojans and other junk
Okay, so, it is true that I am not a Mac person, gasp, but here comes a true unbiased.
I helped a member of the family rebuild a MacBook Pro using a USB stick to boot and install the latest version of El Capitan. I was helping to restore the data literally 48 hours later and to my surprise, that the machine was infected with two pieces of malware (which was visible) 'Advanced Mac Cleaner' and 'ZipClould '. It is interesting ZipCloud himself had placed in the dock bar, replacing a similar looking cloud storage service.
So clearly the machine has been compromised, and it was easier to rebuild than to go on the road to 'cleaning up' at this stage.
How can I avoid this happening again? I can't look over the shoulder 24 x 7, but there should be a way to avoid this.
Mac users often ask if they should install "anti-virus" (AV) or software "anti-malware". The answer is 'no', but it can give the false impression that there is no threat of what is loosely called 'virus '. There is a threat.

Whatever the version, experience has shown that Java on the Web is not reliable. If you must use a Java applet for a job on a specific site, Enable Java only for the site in Safari. Never activate Java for a public Web site that carries the third-party advertising. Use only on websites that are well known, protected by login and secure without ads. Cannot download malware protection & or viris protection, windows Defender keeps popping up to let me know but I try and try, but it still used. our ADSL internet point is at dishnetwork/wildblue.com...just so that you know... im online now, but only because I had to repair & restore factory, so I'm back at the beginning, a little... thank you for taking the time to read and hopfully anwser my problem. · If you use microsoft security essentials avg avira mcafee norton etc they disable the vista version of windows defender by default
the basics of Microsoft security has its own version of windows defender
and other anti-virus programs use their own particular type of application to scan for spyware and malware
It of nothing to worry and is the default action, which is designed for them to do
If the above does not apply to your machine to read the information on the below link on how to disable the windows defender service in vista or make an autostart to enable

Im having trouble surfing the net right now because this message from microsoft begin to appear recently and continues to reveal every 5 minutes while im doing something on my laptop. I tried to ask the help of microsoft, but received no response yet. I even reset my internet explore thinking that might help. I don't know if this has to do with my panda anti virus I just install a month ago. I looked up my security settings and theres a green light it under malware protection, saying that my anti virus is not compatible and its reports on its status of windows that is no longer supported. Please help me undestand so this problem and if I have to change. and what am I going to do to solve the problem. Thank you!

Uninstall the security software and check if the error occurs. If not then you may need to contact the manufacturer of the antivirus software.
Note: The computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; Be sure to activate security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the problem.

I uninstalled mcafee and use essential for protection against viruses for three weeks. now I get error 0x800106ba and malware protection does not illuminate. What should I do?
It is normally a Windows Defender error code.
Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Vista in Windows Defender.

malware protection does not illuminate
Can anyone help? I have Trend Micro Internet Security Pro and I noticed when I turned the computer this morning the Windows Security Center has the Malware is off... The two n - Virus Protection & spyware and other malware protection have the button "Activate" next to them... but when I click on it it says... Are you sure? When I say Yes... it does nothing... Red rest with the button "Activate" always there.
I am running Trend Micro scan... but according to this... It is not a problem?
