  I followed the recommendation and he provided me with the additional option I was looking for.

  However, it was not the end of my problems in the execution of the upgrade.

  Question is - why do I need a "custom installation" and not an upgrade? I am a bit confused by this description and hope someone can help me to clarify.   The VPCCW21FX is only supported by Sony for Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (this is the original operating system) and XP. However you may find that much of the software/drivers on the support site can work properly on your system (try the XP version if version 7 does not work because it will be 32-bit). All other drivers are on different sites of the manufacturer (Nvidia, Marvell), but yet again, they will not be supported by Sony.
