  You got that right!  User-defined functions can be very practical, but this practice comes with a price.

  What version of Oracle are you using?  The Oracle 12, there is a new feature of 'temporal validity' which may help you.

  In any version, it will be much faster if you add a new column to the xo_prices table.  You can call this end_date, although it would in fact be the date when some other prices took effect.  You might put DATE' 9999-12-31 in the column end_date for current prices.  You can calculate end_date using the analytical function of LEAD.  Be sure to re-calcluate end_date when you insert new rows into xo_prices, or when you update the dates on existing lines.

  Once you have PRICE_DATE and end_date in the XO_PRICES table, you can join this table to get the real price from d by including

  AND d > = xo_prices.price_date

  AND d< >

  in the join condition.

  In some situations, especially when you don't have much different (item, dates) combinations, scalar-sub-queries could be faster than joins.

  Whatever it is, it participates without PL/SQL, so there is no context switching.

  Do you mean on your Android device? Firefox for Android uses a menu drop down, or if the device has a menu button next to the home button, it uses this "hardware" button I don't think that it is possible to add a menu bar of Firefox for Android.

  If you meant on Windows:

  You can use one of the following methods to display the toolbar list and activate the menu bar it:

  • Right click on a place empty on the tab bar (or the button '+')
  • Press the Alt key to activate the classic menu bar > view > toolbars
  • in customize mode > show/hide toolbars (see: Customize Firefox commands, buttons, and toolbars)

  It seems to me that I am not 'become' something about the Organization of the forums. I want to do is see the messages in every forum I'm interested, recent. What I actually see when I go to each forum is "trends" of the discussions. When I go to browse > Discussions, I can see that some of the more recent discussions are not in the category 'Trend', but go > Discussions shows a messy confusion of all forums.

  I want to help these people, but I'm afraid that their issues fall between the cracks, because they are not quite 'trends' for me to be able to see them.  How I see 'recent' discussions instead of "trend".

  Thank you all those who rushed in on this one, but I found the solution myself. (Oops, I'm being sarcastic there?)

  If you click on one of the focused themes, once you are there, there is a trail of crumbs at the top, and the last link in the chain is "discussion". If you click on that, you get to all the discussions in this forum, not only the "trendiest". I don't know why there must be this convoluted. If there is a shorter way, I would be grateful hearing on this.
