How can I determine how many records I need to back up my computer?

I tried to back up my computer, but I kept needing to insert new disks and ran out of records before the end of the backup. Now the discs I used are full and I can't reuse :>(

The best thing to do would be to invest in an external hard drive, you can simply plug into a USB port and never have to work with backup discs.  1 TB drives are around $ 85 and would be ideal for your needs.  I also recommend that you do not use the Windows backup program provided.  Use instead something like Norton Ghost, Easeus Todo Backup or Memeo.

CNET has a lot of reviews of backup program to

http://download.cnet.com/windows/backup-software/?tag=contentBody;sideBar .

Some of them are free (the last time I checked there over 300), some have free trials (more), and some are buying only (more than 200).

Good luck.

  • How many TEMP space needed for datapump import?

How exactly can we predict how TEMP table space is required before starting an import data pump (via impdp)?  I need a way to predetermine this before you start the import operation.  It is my understanding that data pump import, temporary table spaces are mainly used for the construction of indexes among other operations.

Such a formula assumes that you are not a multi-user system.  This could be essentially true, if you assign their temp temp abusers, or have a few batch series DW loader.

Since you're probably a multi-user system, it may be best to figure it out empirically, then set limits to limit runaway sessions.  One way to do that is to make autoextend with a limit based on your disk space, let the system run for awhile, then disabling autoextend, apply the ROT of X 2.  But it can be so many site and specific application, it is difficult to say what is the best advice for you - unless you find someone with a similar system with the app.

Many of us just test to see, for the import.

  • How to record a radio station that plays on my computer?

How to record a radio station that plays onmy computer?

    Hello, Nancy Dunn.

    ·         You use Media Player to listen to music from the Radio Station?

Radio stations that you listen in the Player are listened to and cannot be recorded or saved to a file.

However, you can download some third-party software using the search engine for end-of-record.

    DISCLAIMER OF THIRD PARTY SOFTWARE:

Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Issue of MRR - how many neighbors?

Nobody knows how many neighbors a need for AP in order to hear for MRR manage its power output?

I installed a few networks of LWAPP AP (4.x & 5.x) and they seem to be just sitting here outside of blasting at full power.

The sites usually studied for Cisco LWAPP deployments. The channel configuration looks OK (1,6,11) supported, but the power is just full volume.

I wondered if the question is perhaps not just proximity to a neighbor of the AP, but maybe the number of neighbors an AP can hear?

    Any clarificatrion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Nigel.

a good rule is - 70 between all the APs. This allows most customers to be-65 or more. "Each access point should hear at least 2 other APs-75 or better for auto RF working properly", was the old way to assign appropriate LWAPP density.

  • How many movies high def. can fit on a 16GB USB DRIVE?

Hi all! I am a newbie with tech stuff, so please bear with me.
I bought a Kogan STB with 1 TB PVR to record my Semi-HD TV HD movies.

It is said to save, you must use a USB key.  There is no internal hard drive. A good question here is to ask: "what do mean 1 TB PVR? I wrongly assumed that the STB has come with a 1 TB internal hard drive.

Using a 16GB USB DRIVE, how many movies can stand on it?

I don't want a cut film to Midway, due to lack of space.

Is there a way to determine how long (in MB or GB) is a movie?

Video recorders usually tell you, in hours and minutes, how much space you have left on your hard drive. But it is that once you save something on a USB do you find what is excluded in this regard.

I'd appreciate any help any of you could give me.
    Thank you!
    The Steffie.

The size required for the storage of a recorded program will depend on the format used and the length of the film. The term high definition is just simply not enough information to quantify an answer appropriate.

Regarding your 16 Gb USB Thumb drive, you'd be much better off getting an external hard drive 1 TB or 2 TB with a USB connection and an external power source. This should not back you more than just a little more than a hundred dollars or more. Thunbdrive 16 GB is just not made for the task you ask of him.

If the STB Kogan has no settings to adjust for the quality of the recording, simply record a half-hour program and use it as a guide for future recordings, multiplying the space required by the difference of recording time.
