  You can consult the services to see if the service is running. Click 'Start', click 'run' and in the Run dialog box, type "services.msc". On the page that has ensued, scroll down to "Help and support" and right click. Select 'Properties'. .  Look to see if the service is running and if this is not the case, click on the button to start the service. In the box "Startup type", make sure that it is in the type of start "Manual" or "automatic" . Click 'OK' and exit.

  Get the CD from where? Vista is available on DVD. Where did you try to get the DVD you need to enter your product key number? I guess that Vista came pre-installed on your son's laptop? Sony will provide you with a DVD of "valorisation"? Your best bet is to contact Sony, they should be able to provide the necessary recovery for a modest disc.

  Unfortunately, as in Windows 7 there no Blu - ray for the WMC or WMP support in Windows 8 PRO either. You need a separate application for playing Blu Ray.

  Then you should see a lot of INF files in the folder c:\windows\inf (check the part even once).  Unless they all had somehow kill him!
