How can I get my home computer to recognize my Wireless Media Player?

I have a HP Pavilion Media Center Edition.  I just bought a Sony Network Media Player.  This is the model SMP-N100.  Speaking with Sony, we should be able to access my computer wireless using Windows Media Player.  It does not work.  Sony has accompanied me by sync'ing the 2.  We clicked on "Library" and then on "media sharing." We put a check mark in the "Share my media" box and click on OK.  The following dialog should have listed devices that have been recognized at a distance / wireless.  Nothing does not appear in the box (so my computer and Windows Media Player does not pick up any other wireless devices).  That I am unable to access media (movies, music, Photos) on my computer using the Sony Media Player network.  Help?
