  You can find the setting you need in the Performance Options.

  Click on the round to Start and then right click on computer and select Properties from the context menu. In the window of the System in the left column click on Advanced system settings.   I understand that after you upgrade to El Capitan yesterday, you see a badge notification for FaceTime and you want to get rid of it.  If you open system preferences > Notifications on your MacBook Air and then scroll to the bottom and select FaceTime, you can disable the feature icon App Badge.
