  Because it's a new account (even if with the same name), the restore procedure is unable to put files and folders in the same place, they came (because this place technically no longer - if yes, then the process is done and the transfer is complete). It can create a set of separate files (maybe even under a new user name, if it has been stored in this way).  If so, all you need to do is copy the data as you would copy any other files and folders (not the main files of the user profile themselves but the data in them) on the new files in your user account and who will take care of the transfer. Here is more information about the restore procedure which may help you in the process.

  Ah, Yes, that's - a ultra high resolution (dots per inch) display. It is a known problem in Flash Player, which Adobe is working on fixing.

  This CD should work and it should be bootable.  It seems that if you always boot from the hard drive and then you look at the content of the CD-ROM in Windows Explorer.

  If the BIOS is set to boot from the CD, you should not get a menu asking which device to boot from.  At most, you will get something like "Press any key to boot from the CD-ROM."

  You have an another bootable CD that you know works or do you have another computer you can try this CD to see if it works correctly?

  Right click on a place empty and try the option "Group by", which groups them by date.  For example, all changed yesterday is in a group of "yesterday".

  It all depends on how hard you want the person you are looking for the file to work.  What you did until the preserved most of other casual users to recover files.

  If you take the hard drive to a data recovery company, they would probably still recover (unsecured) files.  You can use programs that write too much data time and time again - but even in this case, it might be salvageable.

  It sounds like a problem with permissions for me - what you want is possible.

  To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.
   
  To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself).   I had to replace my main C: drive. My old install Thunderbird is on another internal drive. I installed Thunderbird on the new drive. I can access all the files on the backup drive. But how do I do a restore to my mail, mail files, and list of contacts? How can I find the necessary files?
