How can I type of NETWORK adapter in the virtual computer a vCloud?

I'm trying to write a script that compares the type of NETWORK card in vCloud NIC type in vCenter to work around a bug in vCloud 1.5.  I can get the type of NETWORK adapter in the virtual computer a vCenter by getting the vCenter VM up and running:

$vcvm | Get-NetworkAdapter | FT-auto
Name Type NetworkName MacAddress WakeOnLanEnabled
----              ----           ----------- ----------        ----------------
Network adapter 1 isolated EnhancedVmxnet 00:50:56:01:00:33 True

I do not get the same results when you perform an action similar to vCloud:
$vcdvm | Get-CINetworkAdapter

Connected primary index IPAddressAllocation IPAddress ExternalIPAddress VM
----- ------- ---------  ------------------- ---------       ----------------- --
0 true true manual 192.168.10.30 nic1

I can get all the other info NIC, such as the network, IP, MAC, etc, but not the type:
($vcdvm. ExtensionData.section) [2] .networkconnection

Network: isolated
NeedsCustomization: false
NetworkConnectionIndex: 0
IP address: 192.168.10.30
ExternalIpAddress:
IsConnected: true
MACAddress: 00:50:56:01:00:33
IpAddressAllocationMode: MANUAL
Get_anyattr:
VCloudExtension:

For the moment, I get the type of NIC the vCloud himself database vCloud.  Thanks for any help.

I use VMware vSphere PowerCLI 5.1 Release 1 build 793510

I could tell you where to find it, but there is a bug in the API that shows only as PCNET32 anyway (sleep if she could be VMXNET3). Keep doing what you're doing with the database query.

See you soon,.

OK, here's my question, I know how to give themselves a phyiscal nic to a vmware, but I wanted to take it one step further and do not leave the host send or receive data from this network card, only the virtual machine can use this network/NIC...

Here's my reasoning, I have to network conections, one is for my internal/field network and the second is a direct connection to the internet (Comcast) I don't want to use to separate the machines have for internet connection, I want to be on the same machine phyiscal and have just the vmware machine talking to comcast... is it possible?  I am running VMware workstation 7, last update.

    Thank you

I assume you are using a Windows host?

    If Yes...

-first set up networking networking with vmnetcfg.exe

-assign vmnet0 to the network card for the internal network

-assign vmnet2 to the network card used for direct access to the internet

-Right-click on the map network-icon in the systray and access the properties of the network adapter for vmnet2

-Disable all other protocols and the Protocol of vmware_bridge for this network adapter

result: a virtual machine that uses vmnet2 can directly access the internet and the host has no IP address for this network adapter - and therefore cannot use it.

I'm running a physical machine with Dual Gigabit Lan and Windows 7 Pro. I would like to have all my virtual machines that I run under VmWare Workstation 6.5.3 using the 2nd physical NETWORK adapter on the mpotherboard. Is this possible? How do I? Thank you.

    Hello

You can specify in the virtual network Editor (Edit toolbar option)

    See the attached picture.

If you can't change that... go to the previous "self-link" tab and uncheck the box

  • Sending requests to network IN on the virtual computer invited

I just started a trial of VMWare Workstation and while my guest computer has obtained an IP address from my DHCP server and obtained all necessary to access the universe via the LAN (I can Google etc), I can not connect this computer invited. If I ping its IP address, it ignores the ping. If I ping the host machine, it responds to the ping command.

It is very imprtant to work I want to do that I could issue request for applications inside the guest VM for example the servers Web, SQL Server etc..

I would be grateful for any help anone can provide.

    Thank you

    Welcome to the community,

Since you say "has obtained an IP address from my DHCP server" I guess you setup a network bridged for the virtual machine. In this case, I would start to take a look at the firewall on the client to see if the ICMP traffic is blocked (the default for new Windows systems).

  • How can I put a custom icon on the MY COMPUTER folder on my desktop?

I am using windows 7 ultimate.  I recently had to reinstall my OS.  Before the reinstall, I had all my icons changed other than the regular folder photos.  I did this by clicking on each icon... Properties... Customize... Go to the icon... TADA!  For some reason, now I can't get that option when I right click on my computer and go to properties.  This is not an option.  Is there something else I should go for it?  Since a few years I did it originally, and I have the little icon that used to be on this issue - I can't put anywhere.

batch... If the first has, b, c steps are those that I said that I had made in my question.

Home built computer with Vista installed detail. I always have backups who intend to reinstall on the machine even if the HDD or MB went bad. Full image backup was on the hard drive of withdrawal which do not damaged. Never planned to lose computer any wave of sandstorm. I reinstalled on the same computer successfully before but never tried to migrate to a new computer.  Cannot uninstall Vista from your old computer, because it was submerged in salt water and died. • No network connection to the virtual computer after migration manually to the new host

We have added six new hosts to our environment, and I was tasked to test connections of VIRTUAL LAN on each of them before we move VM production of their.  This is probably a simple problem, but I am new to VMWare and need help.  I already talked to our network guys, and he assures me that the physical switches are setup and working properly.  We work a vDS.

I'm testing 14 VLANs on six new hosts.  All but one are constantly working.  (They all work on the hosts of origin which were in force before.)  I have a static IP configuration on my test VM and MAC is set to automatic.  I checked the MAC does not change when you migrate to other hosts and the VLAN correct is listed in the settings the VM network (it is not empty).  Him VLAN will work on three of the six hosts, but not all at the same time.  The strange thing is that guests at work are constantly changing.  For example, this morning hosts11, 12 and 14 may work, but this afternoon, that could change at hosts12, 14 and 16.  I don't understand why they would change on their own.

My test consists of VM testing, migration manually, powering back, then he ping from my computer off.  Of course everything works when I get ping responses.  When I get no answers, the test of the virtual machine has a yellow exclamation mark on the network icon in the system tray.

What should I do to fix this?

How is the network configured?  You have a different NIC port/cable for each VLAN or Trunking used on the side of the switch?

If you use circuits on the side of the switch, then your GRPE ports virtual switch a VLAN ID needs to match the vlan is underway to shared resources.  No matter if it's a standard switch or switch distributed... you still need this ID of vlan.

I've seen the random question that you encounter if missing one or more of of the uplinks on the side of the switch the VLAN.

I need to change the type of network adapter on the virtual machines, but to do this I will need to get all relevant intellectual property information. This is because the server returns to DHCP afer restart, after the change of the NIC with the command below. PowerGui FAQ.

Q: how to start the administration Console in 32-bit mode on a 64 bit system?

When you first install PowerGUI, on the last page of the installation there is an option to open the administration Console.  This option will open the default version of the administration Console.  The default version is 64-bit on 64-bit computers, or the 32-bit version on 32-bit computers.  Actually, on computers 32 bit, there is only one version, 32-bit version.  The PowerPacks to use a feature that is only available in mode 32 bits, so you can open the administration Console in this mode to use these PowerPacks.  To do this, you have a few options:

    1. from the start menu, open the programs PowerGUI, then x 86 folders and click the shortcut of PowerGUI x 86 to open the Management Console in 32-bit mode.

    2. in PowerShell, run the following command: & ${env:ProgramFiles(x86)} \PowerGUI\AdminConsole_x86.exe }

    3. in cmd.exe, run the following command: "% programfiles(x86) \PowerGUI\AdminConsole_x86.exe"

Note that you can have only one instance of the Console of administration open at a time, so if you have already opened the Management Console in 64-bit mode, you need to close this window before you open the Management Console in 32-bit mode.  Also note that you may need to wait a few seconds after closing the window of the Management Console for the process to stop completely, how you can re - open it in 32-bit mode.

  • Specify a physical NETWORK adapter to a virtual machine

It is a fundamental issue, or it was in VMware Server 1.x, but in v2.x options may not be available.  Here's what I do:

I have a physical host with 3 different network interface cards installed. I want to configure the vNIC on each of my 2 mV at one of the physical network cards, so they each have their own. In VMware server 1.x I would install a vmnet # for each NETWORK adapter and then configure each virtual computer to use one of the new vmnet I set everything up. VMware Server 2, I can still set up since both vnet (one for each NETWORK card), but when I go to change settings of NETWORK adapter in the virtual machine, I have three options (Bridged, host-only and NAT). Two of these two new vnets are "bridge", but I need to specify a fo the vnet jumpered for each.

I know I must be missing something very simple, do not hesitate to point out my mistake. Thank you!

What is your host operating system? If Windows, run the virtual network Editor (vmnetcfg.exe) announces the administrator, disable the automatic bypass and map each physical NIC to another VMNet adapter * in the tab "virtual host network address." If Linux, run /usr/bin/vmware-config.pl (it will take your virtual machines off / suspension) and choose to create more than one Bridged network when you are prompted, choosing different logical names and specitying eth0, eth1, eth2 or whatever they are called.

Then in the virtual machine, they must appear in the drop-down list for the card that you have.

  • How to change the type of adapter on a virtual computer network

    Hello

I'm testing the network drivers in the virtual machine. My current VM has a 79 c 970 AMD Ethernet controller but I want to test different drivers. so is it possible for me to use another Ethernet controller type on a virtual machine? For example all cards Realtek?

Currently, I use VMware Workstation 7.

    Thank you

    Zheng Da

You do not have a lot of choices:

-Without VMware tools, you will be using the vlance network adapter

-With VMware tools, by default, you use the VMware AMD Pcnet network adapter

-You can change inside the VMX configuration file and insert the following line:

    ethernetX.virtualDev = "e1000".

Where X is the number of your network adapter (0 for the first, 1 for the secod, etc...). This will transform the adapter in an Intel PRO 1000.
