  Of course, you can share the internet connection with 2 computers.
  If you have a WLan router, you can connect a computer to the LAN port and the laptop can be connected via Wireless LAN.

  You can also connect two computers to the LAN port. Some routers support two (or more) of LAN ports and assign TCP/IP addresses automatically.
  If your router supports one LAN port you could buy a Hub (or switch) for more LAN ports and connect multiple computers.

  Lastly but not least you can connect to the laptop of desktop PC, but the PC needs to be equipped with min 2 LAN cards.

• Can not share the internet connection through Wifi

  Hi all

  I am connected to the internet using an external antenna connected via USB to my mac (WIRELESS n 801.11). I want to share this connection since my mac with other devices, i.e. my iPhone. I use the internet connection through system preferences--> sharing--> sharing internet--> connection on the part of wlan to computers via WIFI and give a name and a password for the wifi settings. When I start the connection icon wifi on the the high watch the arrow menu to the top, but it gives an IP address from 169 auto... etc etc and I can't any traffic to my iPhone.

  I tried to configure IPv4 to use DHCP with a manual (instead of automatic DHCP) address and IP I enter the IP address used in the WiFi, wifi says that it is connected to the name of the internet connection in the shared connection, I opened but once again no traffic to the iPhone. Also tried disabling the firewall, once again nothing.

  I run El Capitan 10.11.2.

  Method 2: I suggest you to check the parameters of the power management of the device on the network adapter.

  To correct the settings please follow these steps.

  (a) click Start, click Run, and then type devmgmt.msc.

  (b) in the user account control dialog box, click continue.

  (c) in Device Manager, expand network adapters.

  (d) right click on the network driver and then click Properties.

  (e) click the power management tab.

  (f) click to uncheck the checkbox allow the computer to turn off this device to save power , and then click OK. If the option is checked, then uncheck the option and apply the settings.

  Once you have performed the steps, restart the computer so that the changes take effect, and then check the result.

  Thanks for posting. Intermittent connectivity can occur for several reasons. First to get a better idea of your installation. Do you use the dial-up or high speed internet?   In general, it is safe to do so - just a person granting access to your network will not give them access to your files on your computer unless you are already sharing files with another computer on your network.  In this case, you want to check your sharing settings to make sure that the shared files are not available for all users of the network.  The thing I'd be worried, is whether or not the person you share with is "don't own"-no virus, malware, etc. on their computer, given that some of these programs can spread via a shared network connection.

• Connect a Vista PC (host) with an XP PC in LAN and share the internet connection.

  I connect to internet using 3 different notebooks with Windows Vista with a wireless connection to a router and the DSL modem. I have a desktop PC XP computer in a secluded spot in my house, who does not have a wireless card. When I want to use the internet in Office XP, I connect it to a laptop using a LAN cable.

  I was able to do that with 2 of my notebooks (set up the network and share the internet), but with the third Vista notebook, desktop XP can't get the internet connection established. I was not able to detect which is the problem.

  First question: clues to debug this problem?

  Second question: I would like to start over again and configure everything again with this third book. How should I proceed?

  Turn on Internet connection sharing on the Vista wireless network connection.  If asked what to use for the home network connection, tell him to use the connection to the Local network. Then check the State of TCP/IP on both computers:

  1. On the Vista computer, right-click on the connection to the Local network, and then click on status > details . It must show:
     • IP address: 192.168.0.1
     • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
     • Default gateway: no
     • Server DNS = none
  2. On the XP computer, right-click on the connection to the Local network, and then click on status > support > details . It must show:
     • IP address: 192.168.0.x (1<>
     • Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
     • Default gateway: 192.168.0.1
     • = 192.168.0.1 DNS server

  I just changed my router and cannot allow internet sharing.  I could with the old router but now I said because I don't have that one ICS network tab is not available.  How do I set up another network connection so that sharing is available?  Can I share a connection?

  In a typical home network, there is no need to enable Internet connection sharing on all computers.  A broadband router connects to a modem cable or DSL and Internet access to all computers that connect to it, using a wired Ethernet connection or a wireless connection.
