  I have an Asus laptop with windows preinstalled 8 and when I try to use my keys f1 - f12 for shortcuts, none of them work. Except when I press the f3 key, which displays the image of a key board with a setting sun on it, which I guess means obscuring the brightness, but instead, it takes me to my files. I'm not an expert in computers, so I don't know what to do, but I looked through all my settings and not could not find a way to fix them. I have also tried to looked on websites windows 8, but could not find something or the other. If I could get help, I would be very grateful.

  You need to go out to the Asus support site and download the "ATKACPI driver and utilities based on the shortcut key" for your particular laptop model. You can start here:

  If you have a problem to find the right driver, reply back with your model number (all, as N56VM-AB71, N56 series) and someone here will help. The full number should be on a sticker on the bottom of the laptop, or under the battery.

  Had the same problem on the same hardware, found these posts was very angry and solved the problem.

  I am running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit - clean install (and not an upgrade) and same remote

  Here's how:

  1. Download "FIR_ITE_5.1.0.8_W7x86W7x64_A" from the Acer site

  (Select Windows 7 64-bit)

  2 extract the downloaded ZIP file to your. Do not run the Setup program.

  Navigate to the folder... FIR_ITE_5.1.0.8_W7x86W7x64_A\FIR_ITE_5.1.0.8_W7x86 x64\INFDrv

  3. double-click on the reg file called "InstallRegistry.reg" to import the configuration. Be sure to meet all guests Yes OK

  4. restart your PC

  5. If should start working just after you log on, but you need to run the "CIRAP.exe" file that is located in the same folder that REG file it.

  Steps above should work if you the devices work correctly:

  Check open your device manager:

  The Panel\All Control Panel Items\Device Control Manager

  and make sure you have no exclamation point on some unknown devices

  You should also see two devices in the list under "Human Interface Devices"

  (SIO2) ITECIR infrared receiver

  and

  Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver

  It worked for me earlier so it should work for you too.

  I just bought a windows 7, but before the case was made I said guys from dell, I needed a computer with Brazilian keyboard. also i paid 50.00 dollars more and they have installed the software to change the language of the computer to the Portuguese. Here's the deal, professional window 7 or windows Ultimate edition, you will have the layout and language... to make it work perfectly. Now if you want to get the layout of the keyboard and language on the regular windows 7 all you have to do is go to microsoft.com and download it. hope it will be useful. you will need to find a way to use the keyboard, codes may be an exercise. but in a day or two, you'll discover. Remember to make all updates as soon as you buy a computer. After you set your PC and all new updates start popping up, just download each important updates. all this information was passed to buy me no one selling Dell.

  Looks like you just have to switch the toggle autour:

  Apple > System Preferences > keyboard > check ' keys all F1, F2, etc. as standard function keys

  I'm afraid that it will not work. Two jacks, one of which was a standard on older PCs, serves as input and audio output microphone, in short, audio out, voice went in through your microphone. This has changed now because of recent trends and can be inconvenient for most users.

  I solved this problem by buying a USB soundcard with these two entries, and it cost me about US $ 10. As its USB cards helps stimulate an additional gain so I better sound now than ever. May be worth it.

  Sorry, I should have stated that my OS is Win 7 Pro 64-bit.  I have a C4100 and a scanner HP C4400 HP doesn't seem to have any drivers that would work on 64-bit.   I decided to install the virtual XP on my Dell XPS700 with Win7 Pro 64 bit OS.  That worked really well as I can boot normally and then go start the virtual XP and I managed to download the latest version of the software and drivers for XP in this virtual drive.   This allows me to do what I want with a scanner and I use the HP software to control everything.  I'm tired of a program called VueScan that I bought as he said he would work but discovered it was worthless.  So I ended up going the virtual XP mode as a way to continue to communicate with my two scanners.  Works very well.

  I will go back and check the HP website and maybe they decided to update their drivers (but I doubt of this kind).  Found the same problem with my card its Creative X - fi.  There is absolutely no driver for Win7 Pro 64-bit.   They have recently released some drivers supporting same Win 8 64 bit, but they don't work well.  Ended up getting a new card SBx creative and it works beautifully.  Businesses do not seem to care about existing systems more! :-(
