How do you rename your computer when you buy it second part?

I just bought my computer from a friend and I want to remove his name off computer.  I tried to do it by changing its name in user accounts, but his name remains.  How can I put my name as the original owner?

Hello jeep62,

One who installs Windows, the installation program asks you to enter your name and optionally, the name of the organization. These registration information appears under recommended for in the general tab of the System when you click Start, click Control Panel, click performance and Maintenanceand then click System.

THEN:

  1. Click Startand then click run.
  2. In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
  3. Look for the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
  4. To change the name of the company, follow these steps:

In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOrganization. Under value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK.

  5. To change the name of the registered owner, follow these steps:

In the right pane, double-click RegisteredOwner. Under value data, type the name that you want, and then click OK.

  • Unable to restart your computer when you try to configure my PC back to factory settings.

So, recently I tried to reset my laptop to factory settings, but it says:

    Cannot restart your computer
Windows cannot restart the computer in the Windows recovery environment to complete the restore.

Maybe its weird, but that's exactly what he said. I have no idea what this means? I could get help :)
    Thank you.  -Nicolai

Try to start again in the recovery environment, then launch a reset:

New computers that come pre-installed with Windows often have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

This is how the recovery partition is accessible to most popular brands...

For Dell, press CTRL + F11 directly after switching on the device

For HP, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For LG, press F11 directly after switching on the device

For Toshiba, press and hold "0" BEFORE and during the power upward

For Acer, press and hold ALT + F10, as soon as you see the logo

For Asus, press F9, as soon as you see the Asus logo.

For Samsung, press F4 to the power upward...

For Fujitsu, press the F8 key directly after the power

Advent, restart your computer. Then, press F10 repeatedly until the message "Starting system recovery"

Sony VAIO, reboot and press "F8" or "F10" repeatedly until the screen "Advanced Boot Options".

  • Error message: "CARDS.dll is missing from your computer", when reinstalling Freecell.exe

Original title: Reinstall Freecell.exe and CARDS.dll

I permanently deleted freecell.exe from my computer at home about 3 months ago since I played him too much. [It is not in the Recycle Bin, but permanently deleted.]

It may be slightly addictive, see.

Now I want that he return!

I copied freecell.exe of my employer's computer to my home computer, but whenever I click on the icon, I get the message error "CARDS.dll is missing from your computer."

I looked for where I could get this dll on the net file, for example, Microsoft, but only get directed to sites who want to scan my registry until they give me the download, and I'm just wary of them and their peers.

I guess my basic question is: how to find a good copy of the CARDS.dll file and put it in the right place on my home computer.

I have my original purchase recovery discs, but I hesitate to start with there rooting.

    Thanks in advance.

I would accept a computer on a virtual private network computers that want to connect have their updated windows update.
How could I check that? a key value in the registry? access to a database?

    Hi tofke22,

Thank you for using answers Forum.

You can check if your computer if up-to-date by checking the Windows Update control panel section and see if updates are available.

However, if you want to know if a person who connects to you via the VPN is in common with their updates, the only method that I know would ask them. There is not a way to check the status of update a PC without having access to the office.

    I hope this helps.

Your computer is infected with malware. Windows XP Recovery also is a rogue malware. He is also known to be bundled with TDSS Rootkit. Follow the instructions below carefully.

    1. Click HERE to download iexplorer.exe. Save the file to your desktop.
    2. Click Start > run > paste the following command > %userprofile%\desktop\iexplore.exe > Press Enter
    3. A dialogue window will appear similar to the command prompt. Leave the course ends. When the window disappears, the process is complete. You will be informed of any malware process which took end. Note: If you get a message that RKill is an infection, don't be concerned. This message is just a fake warning given by Windows XP Recovery when it terminates programs that can potentially remove.
    4. Click HERE to download Malwarebytes. During installation, make sure there is a check mark in the boxes) 1 launch Malwarebytes and 2) update Malwarebytes. Update and launch may take a few minutes so be patient. Once launched the scanner performs a quick search. If you need help to use Malwarebytes click HERE. Once the analysis is completed, follow the prompts to remove the detected items.
    5. Click HERE to download TDSS Killer. It of a short sweep and will detect and remove TDSS Rootkit if it is present on the computer. Just follow the guests.
    6. After TDSS Killer finished click HERE to download Unhide.exe. Save the file to your desktop. Double-click on the file and choose run if you are prompted. Leave the course ends. Note that the process can take a long time. Once the process is complete your files is no longer must be hidden.

NOTE: It is sometimes necessary to perform steps 5 and 6 in reverse. Also, if TDSS Killer or Unhide.exe are not visible on your desktop after downloading, click Start > run > type tdsskiller.exe or unhide.exe > Ok to automatically launch the software respectively.

  • How to get to my computer when I forget my Windows login password? __

We have windows 7 starter edition. My daughter has changed the password for the connection. Then she forgot what she changed. Can someone help me?

You can change your password to something that you remember another administrative user account. If you had only an administrative user account and you have forgotten the password, all is not lost. You can then follow the general recommendations for configuring user accounts in Windows 7, I will give you at the end of this post.

All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

If you have a Windows 7 DVD installation (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [press Enter]
NET user [insert here the name of your user account] [insert the new password of user as 1234 here] [press Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

Remove the installation DVD and restart the computer. Now, you will be able to connect to your user account by using the password that you set; for example, 1234.

If you do not have a Windows 7 installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair the system Windows 7 (not a system recovery!) in the menu diagnosis. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode. Get to this menu by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. If you do not have this option, you can make a bootable DVD of Windows 7 repair of the file on this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2009/Windows-7-system-repair-discs/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. If you create the bootable DVD in an older operating system (XP, Vista), you will need to use third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com ) to burn the image .iso image file, not in the form of data. Windows 7 can burn the .isos natively.

Once you have fixed things, log on to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Windows 7:

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. Like XP, Vista and all the other modern operating systems, Windows 7 is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want account only one user with administrator privileges in Windows 7 because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult.  It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but there may be more that you want to do. Better not to put you in a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

I want to buy the Photoshop now, but I'm pretending to change my computer very soon. If I buy the software now and install in my computer run, when I buy a new one, I can't install the new with the same license free of charge?

Did you want to say «which intends "instead of"pretend"?»  Assuming you did, the short answer is Yes.

If you purchase a perpetual license for Photoshop CS6, you want to deactivate the software on your old system before installing it on your new system.

If your goal is to reach the creative cloud, all you have to do is disconnect on the old system and the newspaper in the new system during the new installation of creative cloud with your Adobe ID

I don't know where you intend to purchase your license, but I suggest on sources other than Adobe themselves.  There are a lot of fakers / scammers out there.
