How many groups of disks for + DATA?

Hi all

Made Oracle recommends that a group of disks asm wholesale/shared for all databases?
In our case we're going to 11.2 and 10 g rac against 11.2 ask...

Am I right to say that I need to set the compatibility of the asm to 10 in order to be able to use the same disk?
It is a good idea? Or should I create another group of disks for the db 10g?
I guess that there are features that are not available when compatibility is reduced to 10g...

Yes, it is possible but not recommended because the ASM would distribute the e/s in such a way to disc 1 would get 4 times requests for disk 2, which is probably not what you want in terms of performance.

There is no answer to a question like that. Gadgets are very different
    each other.

Most of the gadgets use no resources at all except when using them.
They are something like the programs that are installed, but not running.

  • How many per physical disk VHDs?

I'm new on the ESXi server.  My company is going through the transition from physical servers to virtual servers on one of our contracts.  The client has provided the material for us, but there are a limited number of hard disks of the 'new' server  The server will run three virtual computers, 2 Web servers and a database server.  Each VM has its own dedicated hard disk.  Our old server DB had 11 young readers and our initial plan was to migrate all of them in a virtual drive.  My feeling is that this will cause performance problems because the operating system will treat the separate virtual drives and physical disks and try more I/O that the drive can handle.  I think it might be better to move to a few large virtual drives and their partition into 11 partitions.  Any ideas on that?

For the DB (assuming that MSSQL server), you should have an OS vmdk, one for data files, one for the transaction logs files and possibly one for tempdb files.

That should be enough. It would be better to place the data, logs, and the Tempdb on high performance specifien 9VMFS built RAID 10) but of course, we can always what we want.

  • How many TEMP space needed for datapump import?

How exactly can we predict how TEMP table space is required before starting an import data pump (via impdp)?  I need a way to predetermine this before you start the import operation.  It is my understanding that data pump import, temporary table spaces are mainly used for the construction of indexes among other operations.

Such a formula assumes that you are not a multi-user system.  This could be essentially true, if you assign their temp temp abusers, or have a few batch series DW loader.

Since you're probably a multi-user system, it may be best to figure it out empirically, then set limits to limit runaway sessions.  One way to do that is to make autoextend with a limit based on your disk space, let the system run for awhile, then disabling autoextend, apply the ROT of X 2.  But it can be so many site and specific application, it is difficult to say what is the best advice for you - unless you find someone with a similar system with the app.

Many of us just test to see, for the import.

    Hello

    Thorny problem!

Unfortunately, LISTAGG was created to the Oracle 11.2. About half of the complexity here is the aggregation of chain, i.e. forming the list of the classnumbers, as '1.3', using only functions available in Oracle 10.2.

    Here's a solution:

    WITH got_gpno_classnumber_cnt AS
    (
SELECT gpno, classnumber, age_min, age_max, amount
, COUNT (*) OVER ( PARTITION BY gpno
                                      , classnumber
                          ) AS gpno_classnumber_cnt
         FROM fortest
-- WHERE ... -- If you need any filtering, this is where it goes
    )
    , pairs AS
    (
         SELECT a.gpno
         , a.classnumber
         , MIN (b.classnumber)
                    OVER ( PARTITION BY a.gpno
                              , a.classnumber
                      ) AS super_classnumber
         FROM got_gpno_classnumber_cnt a
         JOIN got_gpno_classnumber_cnt b ON a.gpno = b.gpno
                                      AND a.age_min = b.age_min
                                    AND a.age_max = b.age_max

  • Concepts: how much writing on disk for a single update

(I use 10.2.0.5 but I think that this applies to any version)

After reading lots of documentation on Oracle I started to think how often Oracle 'written' for a single update statement.

    The following is correct?

    For an update statement:
    (1) the original data are written in tables UNDO space
    (2) this is protected by a write first to REDO log
    (3) the new data is written to the table space
    (4) this is also protected by an entry first in the redo log
    (5) after that fills in the redo log, it is copied to an archived log
    (6) at the time of the backup that Archives archiving log is also best once more

So for a single update, I count at least six entries of the same data?
It is probably what makes the robust Oracle.

No, your data still haven't write (immediately) to datafiles (your tablespaces logically). When point of control (when manually to CHANGE the point of VERIFICATION SYSTEM, SWITCH of NEWSPAPER, when the buffer cache is full, STOP IMMEDIATELY in backup database tablespace mode) then your blocks of data will apply to data files.

    (4) this is also protected by an entry first in the redo log

    Yes

    (5) after that fills in the redo log, it is copied to an archived log

    YesIn ARCHIVELOG mode()

    (6) at the time of the backup that Archives archiving log is also best once more

    YES.

So for a single update, I count at least six entries of the same data?

These are not same data! This is the mechanism of oracle database. Cancel the information generated immediately and ensure uniformity reading (to restore). Redo information just, contain no information. It comes to redo change agent who used methods of recovery (media and instance) and finally your data updates do not immediately write data by DBWR because files there is reason of performance.

Yes, not all cameras have camera-specific profiles. For the most part it is Canon and Nikon and a few others. Take a look at yto our camera raw profiles directory, you will see all of the profiles here. On Vista, you can find it here C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\CameraProfiles\Camera.
