I just finished my website in french and I would like to be able to have it in french as well as English version. I made a copy of the version in french and translated to English on my own. So far, the Web site only in french was working smoothly, but I'll have a hard time to understand how should I proceed to operate also in English. I did find a lot of information on this point. I have tried everything first to have a few small flags that would redirect from one file to the other via hypertext links, but couldn't make it work so I thought I'd go just for a home page where the visitor would choose that once he wants the page to be in french or English. That did not work as well. I want the site to be like mysite.com and mysite.com/en /, so I guess I should go for the subfolders. in my root folder, I placed an external index page that performs a redirection for french and English Homepage located in 2 separate subfolders named en and in. Also tried to file only one image, but I don't know how to redirect pages so that they choose the content directly in the root folder. Here is the link to my site which is not working now:
redirection is done appropriately, but it leads to pages that contains no images (only translations of right) and they are not that records 'in' or 'fr' but some active folder located in the root folder. I don't really understand what are the assets.

Errmm, I actually would not follow the BC manual linked above.
The most effective way that I can tell you, the use of a liquid base is the coding. You can then use a users IP to display different versions automatically, this will provide a better user experience. In addition, you can add a manual change as a menu drop-down or flags in your navigation bar.
Regarding the structure of the files, I suggest the following:
- _SYSTEM
- en
- en
- IMG/global
- IMG/en
- IMG/en
You can then put all your global images (those shared between the two language versions) in the img/global and then all your images specifically for the en version in the img/en etc.

This is a typical and very common requirement.
The solution is to store your media library as well as your catalog on an external drive.
You can connect the external drive on both computers alternately. The performance is very good.
One way to make the transfer is to use the backup / restore process:
