How Swagbucks my default search engine?
When I turn on my default search engine, Swagbucks is not one of the choices. Visit this site did not do anything to add to the list of search engine options. It seems that Firefox only wants me to choose among search engine options they list - or what I am doing wrong?
Hello
I had a look at Swagbucks and it doesn't seem to be a search engine, but a site that you must register to use.
I think they have an extension that you can install that will allow this feature to link, but be aware that it is installed from outside the site of the add-on and may include banner ads in the browser.

How to change Mozilla.cfg to set google as default search engine
Need help with our setting mozilla.cfg file to change the default to yahoo search engine to google.
Browser.search.defaultenginename in comments: config already has the default value of 'google', so doesn't justing adding this line of modzilla.cfg - ' pref ("browser.search.defaultenginename", "google", as its currently by default.)I noticed that if I manually change the search provider (thru the interface), then this value changes from 'default' to 'user set', which retains google as the default search engine. So how do I either set this value as 'user set' within mozilla.cfg, or use some alternative?

You can restore the change in Google Yahoo search engine in the Firefox 34.0.5 by enabling / disabling browser.search.isUS to false.
Note that only 34.0.5 replaces the default search by Yahoo! engine.- https://www.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/34.0.5/releasenotes/

How can I choose the default search engine in the address window?
You explain how to change the 'address bar' default search engine at the top right. I want to know how to change the search engine in the address at the top window to the left. Currently, if I type in an address not recognized, my ISP search engine will appear. I'd rather have the search engine of Google or Bing when I make a mistake of addressing.
You can have an ISP that automatically redirects you to a search page if a DNS search fails.
Who takes control of Firefox to search with the normal keyword like a Google, I'm lucky search.
In this case, you will need to contact your ISP and ask for a DNS to opt-out of this feature.
You can also check if there is a link on the search results page to go to your ISP and opt-out. -

How can I change the default search engine in the address bar?
Beta toolbar AVG changed the search engine used when I type in the address bar of Yahoo search. I uninstalled AVG completely toolbar beta, but I can't seem to find out how to change the search back to Google search engine.
Skip this step if you also have a Yahoo toolbar
Remove the Yahoo toolbar- 'Ctrl + Shift + A' (add-on Manager)
- Select the piece of the Puzzle on the left side for list Extensions
- Find "Yahoo Toolbar" and click the "Uninstall" button and restart Firefox. (if you really need to keep the Yahoo toolbar, you can hide the toolbar instead with personal and always not to change all default search settings below)
Then to set the default search engine used in the address bar, change the value of the keyword. URL in Subject: config to one of the values in the search of the address bar with MozillaZine.
- Search Google (Google search results page)
http://www.Google.com/search?ie=UTF-8 & oe = UTF-8 & q =
- type about: config in the location (in a new tab) toolbar
- If the nonsense of warning message appears uncheck the box before dismiss the dialog box message
- filter by keyword
- Right click on the key word . URL and choose 'Edit' then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice.
- filter on defaulturl
- Right-click on browser.search.defaulturl (if it exists)and again choose "Edit" and then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice.
- filter on ytff
- Right-click on yahoo.ytff.search.popup_src (if it exists) and again once choose 'Edit' then paste in the string of search engine Google of your choice, so adventurous maybe see if 'reset' would delete and see if went into the session next (at least not for those keeping the extension).
Avoid problems: Several software installations contain additional baggage called crapware. The Yahoo toolbar is packed with Java photo

Somehow my default search engine has been changed to Google to what is called "My Web Search". I want to switch to Google, but I can't figure out how. I disabled the plugin and removed my options of search engine in the top right, but nothing has changed.
You have My Web Search installed; Look under Tools > Modules > Plugins. He could have grafted in on something that you have installed. Always seek and opt-out when installing other programs and Add-ons that you install from sites other than the site of Mozilla Add-ons. My search on the Web is considered malware/adware/spyware by many. You must remove it.
Step 1. You can check if you have one of these installed ' Fun Web products ' :
Control Panel > add or remove programs: Ask.com Bar, my search bar, of the MyWay Bar speed, my search on the Web Bar, Fun Web products Easy Installer

http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/troubleshooting+plugins#Manually_uninstalling_a_pluginStep 2 You may need to change a preference to reset your default URL/location bar search engine:
-Enter Subject: config in the URL/address bar and press the Enter key
-If you see a cautionary, accept it (promise you'll be careful)
-Filter = keyword.url
-Under the filter, right-click on the keyword. URL and choose "Reset".
-Restart Firefox (file > restart Firefox)
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keyword.urlStep 3 You may need to reset your homepage. Firefox can open multiple home pages. Home pages are separated by the ' | ' symbol.

the search box (with a magnifying glass to the left of it) is completely insensitive and there is no search option in the options of the menus/screens. Assistance from the address field in the search bar appears only intermittently to perform an Internet search for key words. a solution would be greatly appreciated.
You can check if you have the XML files including Google's default search engine in the browser\searchplugins file in the Firefox program folder.
If this isn't the case, then you need to reinstall Firefox.
Try to delete the file search.json and possible search - metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the profile folder of Firefox to reset the default search engines.
You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder currently in use:
- Help > troubleshooting information > profile directory: see file (Linux: open the directory;) Mac: View in the Finder)
Firefox will rebuild the file search.json from the default search engines in the folder "browser\searchplugins" in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

36 Firefox: How can I KEEP my choice of default search engine and Yahoo Search?
Firefox 36 insists now that I use Yahoo search constantly changing my default search engine choice. No matter now many times I put it for Google, I'll get something Yahoo and it's once again. I have Yahoo not checked in the search preferences, hoping that it will not be displayed again. Have restarted Firefox several times. No luck.
My last resort is to REMOVE Yahoo Search my list of search engines to prevent that from happening? I MIGHT want to use some time later, but not every day.
ALSO. If it's important, when I filled this question with 'installed plugins' information on my Mac and Firefox, a witness appeared, so I went to tools > Modules. This screen appeared for a second and instantly has far to another screen: DNS Yahoo Error Handler who had "garmin communicator plugin icon developer" entered in the search query box. My web experience is now taken by Yahoo?
Hmm, it sounds like you have some kind of hijacker in your Firefox. Try this:
Disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions on page modules. Either:
- Command + shift + a
- Tools menu > Modules
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, when in doubt, turn off. (Or if it is obviously the badware, delete).
If Firefox is redirected at this point, see the next section.
Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.
Who help me?
If Firefox is unable to use the addons page, you may need to block extensions using the Mode without failure of Firefox. It is a standard diagnostic tool to disable some advanced features of Firefox and extensions. More info: questions to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode.
You can restart Firefox in Mode safe mode using either:
- button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > restart with disabled modules
- Help menu > restart with disabled modules
(Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still works)
After stops in Firefox, a small dialog box should appear. Click on 'Start mode safe' (not reset).
Can remove you it?

How to search the selected text with a default search engine?
Hello
Before the recent update of the search bar, you can select your 'current' search engine, and a search for the selected text (right click on the selection) would use this engine.
Now, it seems that you can only search for the selected text using the default engine. If that is correct, it's a big step backwards for me. For example, I can't have Google as my default search engine and the search for a text selected on eBay!
Or am I missing something?
Thank you!
R.
I find this extension very useful for selected items in the web pages. It offers all your search engines with select > right click.
