  RAID 0 distributes all your files on both drives. Break the RAID and you have data or programs, not even a bootable OS. So you have to backup your data before breaking the RAID.

  To preserve your current operating system and transfer it to one of your readers courses will require using a 3rd hard drive to clone the current operating system from before the breakup of the RAID, so that it can then be cloned to one of the original disks.

• Predictive failure, new discs, perc4/di, poweredge 2600, help!

  We have an old Dell poweredge 2600 with a Controller PERC 4/di with 3 disk raid 5 running array.  Drive 0 has been recently warning of predictive failure about once a day.   A consistency check has not helped, so we had 2 spare opportunity, but tested ok, records keep us under the hand of the old system.  After out-of-line-ing the old drive and insert the new drive, he threw another predictive failure on the new drive, but has continued to rebuild and completed successfully.  There is no new next failure error after reconstruction, server is operating normally, and all full nightly backups of the drive without any errors.  However, the State of the drive still shows a yellow warning on disk 0 triangle, and State of disk 0 is 'predictive failure '.  So after a few days we tried swapping to another different drive.  The same exact situation occurred with the second disc.  Once again, everything seems fine, backups and otherwise.  No new predictive error except initial insertion and the degree, again, says predictive.

  I understand that the problem might be odd chances of 2 bad discs, or a punched tape.  Would be - it something else?  How will I know what really is the problem?

  BTW... Reference Dell OMSA ver 1.7.0 is installed and Dell OpenManage Array Manager 3.5.0 build 555.3.

  6 x 147 Gb (Fujitsu MAP3147NC) in a RAID5 configuration

  It has worked well during the installation of Windows Server 2000. But now I need to install Windows Server 2008 R2.

  Here's the problem: when I boot server to Windows Server 2008 R2 installation DVD, it starts to load the files and after a few minutes shows an error (I copy the exact error number) who said he's trying to run the 64-bit application, but unfortunately, this processor does not support 64-bit applications.

  I was able to find a download for Windows 2008 x 64 on the page Support of Dell PowerEdge 2600. This means that you can install an operating system 64-bit on this PE 2600, is it not?

  The list 2008 x 64 in the list of OS for the 2600 is clearly a typographical error / support/web content team:
