How to cancel a repair failure of Windows XP installation?
Hello, anyone know of a method to cancel a failed repair XP installation? After a virus removal, the box was still acting funny and blocks the installation of seven. I've repeatedly tried to repair the installation, but still get the adjustment buckle. I tried many patches of the forums about 'ASMS' questions 'CPP' etc. but in the end only the fatal error. The boot.ini file is directed to simple installation on the box. heart my question, is there a file temp or something that is causing to say in the loop I can delete putting the drive in another area or is there something in the reg that redirects to the installer?
any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been a long week deal and right now a wipe is not an option.
the box is a laptop computer with Windows XP SP1, but it has been upgraded to SP3. the original cd of XP SP1 was used as SP2 disc
Thank you
Marc
I hope not correctly restart after the installation of the portion in text of the Repair Mode:
1 - mount the drive in another computer
2 remove the following folders and files, they are all in the root folder, usually C:\
$WIN_NT$ ~ BT
$WIN_NT$. ~ LS
$LDR$
3. edit the Boot.ini file and remove the line pointing to C:\$win_nt$.~bt\bootsect.dat="Windows XP... »
4 - change the registry and make sure that the value data of the following are set to 0:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Setup\SystemSetupInProgress
See here for easy to follow information on how to edit the registry, while the drive is mounted in another machine:
http://www.RWIN.ch/XP-live/Regedit.htm
Don't forget to unload the hive after you change it, otherwise the changes will not be saved.

How to create a repair disk in Windows XP
Hello
How to create a Windows XP REPAIR disc?
I have Windows XP version 5.1, Build 2600.
Thank you very much
Michael
What do you think needs repair?
You were not able to find something suitable in the tutorials section?
You can make a CD of XP bootable following Recovery Console:
If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.
This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.
You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.
The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:
xp_rec_con. ISO
Download the ISO from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig
Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:
Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:
http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61
It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.
You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive. These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load. If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.
When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:
Press any key to boot from CD...
Installing Windows... going to pronounce.
Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.
Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)
You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).
You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS. It's the same as the
C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.
The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.
For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

Cannot cancel the repair and start a new installation
I encountered an error in my operating system and tried to do a repair. Now I am locked into installation mode after receipt of an error. I tried several times to boot from the disc, but it keeps starting in a mode to continue... Don't Let Me access a format. I continue to shut himself up about 25% of the windows installation. How do I start again?
Boot from to a CD of DBAN and wipe the drive completely (hopefully you have good backups.)
Looks like a hardware problem.

First disconnect the external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard.
Startup Repair is a Windows Vista recovery tool that can fix certain problems, such as system files missing or damaged that may prevent Windows from starting correctly. When you run the Startup Repair, it scans your computer for the problem and then tries to fix it so that your computer can start correctly.
As Windows automatically launches the Startup Repair tool there is a possibility that she cannot cross the whole scan problems.
I suggest that you do the startup repair using the Windows Vista installation disc and check if it works.
If you have a Windows Vista installation disc, you need to restart (boot) your computer using the installation disc. If you do not restart your computer from the disk, the option to repair your computer will not appear.
1. Insert the installation disc.
2. restart your computer.
Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
3. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
4. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
5. click on Repair your computer.
6. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
7. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair.
Check out the link for more information below.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/how-do-I-fix-a-boot-startup-problemIf startup repair does not resolve the issue then in the same way using the windows vista disc try to restore system until the day where computer was working fine.
I hope this helps!
