How to change xp 32-bit to 64-bit xp

is it possible to upgrade windows xp 32-bit to 64-bit windows xp, I'm using xp 32-bit with 1 GB of RAM, which I want to switch to xp 64 bit 1 GB of RAM or if possible 2GB of RAM.

There is absolutely no reason to switch to XP 64 - bit on such a machine, unless you have specific software that requires a 64-bit operating system.

Driver for WIndows XP 64-bit support has been uneven at best.

If you need a 64-bit computer, you would be much better to save and to buying a PC more modern with 64-bit Windows 7.

    Hello!

I have the Satellite A300D-205, with a Windows 7 32-bit on it. I've upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista 32-bit by an upgrade DVD from Toshiba

I need Windows 7 64 bit. I was searching the net on this subject and the only thing I knew, I should have the 64-bit version of Vista. But I bought my laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit and have only Windows Vista RECOVERY DVD and the DVD of Windows 7 upgrade.

How can I change 32 bit to 64 bit

    Thanks for the attention

    Hello

To be honest, I don't know how you can do... I do not think, it is possible to obtain from Toshiba. I can't recommend allows you to get Win 7 64-bit to install. For all win7 drivers, take a look:

  • Satellite A660 - how to change the 32-bit system too 64 bit

    Howdy!

I bought a new Toshiba Satellite A660 i7-2630QM with windows 7 Home premium.

My problem is Toshiba includes instructions for the first start upward, and he said: I can choose between the 32-bit operating system and 64-bit operating system, but when I turned on the first time he didn't give me any option/choice.

Now ive got 6 GB memory and can use 4 GB because its too 32-bit system set is an easy way to change it because I don't have a windows disc, all the software is preloaded?

    Hello

I think that this info is mentioned in the user manual.
First of all, you can create a with the image of Toshiba recovery disc.
You must create this disk using the preinstalled software called Toshiba recovery disc creator (or creative recovery Toshiba).

In addition, there should be a possibility to recover the laptop using the recovery of HARD drive.
During the recovery of HARD drive, installation should provide an option that allows you to choose between the 32 and 64 bit.

But just one question: what A660-xxx you have exactly?

Original title: 32 bits 64 bits, exactly what they are refuring to

System have32bit what should I do to make it 64-bit?

    Hello

You can not 'do' your 32-bit to 64-bit

You have to get a 64 bit Vista operating system disk and do a clean install, which erases the hard drive clean in the process.

If you have a contact for OEM Vista Operating System (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) preinstalled manufacturer and ask is they provide you with a record of 64-bit and ask them if your computer will even run the 64-bit operating system.

If you have a Vista of detail except ultimate license, which included records of 32 and 64 bit, you will need to borrow a record of 64-bit as Microsoft is supplying more 64-bit Media for Vista retail licenses.

And read this information about 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems.

    Need help.

Satellite L635 bought a few months ago with Windows 7 Home Premium installed on the HARD drive. When the first time activate Windows, I can choose 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, then I chose Windows 7 32 bit.

Can I switch my laptop RAM 4 GB, 2 weeks ago. And I come to know that windows 7 32 bits can not read more than 3 GB of RAM. Only windows 7 64 bit can read more than 3 GB.

My question is, how do I change from 32-bit to 64-bit Windows because toshiba gave me Windows 7 install CD / DVD. Windows has already been installed on the HARD drive.

    Thank you.

    Hello

    > because toshiba gave me Windows 7 Installer CD / DVD
Yes, because you must create this disk yourself using pre-installed recovery media creator. But I m wondering why ask this question here because it s mentioned in the user manual you must create this disk as soon as possible. If HDD recovery would fail or install another OS, you need this CD to restore preinstalled settings of Toshiba.

If you use the (boot from it) Toshiba Recovery disk, you should be also asked if want to 32-bit or the 64 bit version of Windows 7. So I recommend creating these discs and use it to install Windows 7 64 bit.

    Hi Hugo,.

You use a color camera? coz usually 32 bit for a color image.

If so, you can try the unique color Pane.vi extract to extract its Luminance component. It then becomes an 8-bit grayscale image.

  • How to change Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit to 64 bit with no disc?

I've upgraded Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit to 32 bit Ultimate.  I want to do a custom 64-bit Setup, but does not.  Now that I've upgraded to Ultimate 32 bit how can I change to 64-bit?  My upgrade was merely a box with an activation key, no disc not provided.  Upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium to Vista buying and don't download from MS Store so no original or the other disk.  Thanks for any help!

You must have the disk to do a clean custom install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Contact the Microsoft Store for a replacement disk:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7install/thread/fb8230d4-000F-4ee7-b732-c9f8fff28bfd

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP
